Samsung’s much-anticipated “Project Moohan” has been one of the company’s most secretive projects until now. Originally teased during Samsung’s January Unpacked event, it will reportedly launch as the Samsung Galaxy XR. Now, a fresh set of renders, screenshots, and specifications has surfaced offering the most detailed look yet at the upcoming XR headset. Here’s what we know based on the recent leak.
In a recent report by Android Headlines, we now have a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy XR and it appears to draw strong design inspiration from Apple Vision Pro. The device has been spotted several times before including at the Galaxy S25 launch event, Mobile World Congress and in early hands-on sessions late last year. However, these newly leaked renders are reportedly sourced from within Samsung and reveal the headset from almost every angle.

According to the renders, the Galaxy XR features dual internal lenses, a wraparound “Light Shield” for a snug fit, and an external battery pack, much like Apple’s premium headset.
The front and back panels of the Galaxy XR are equipped with numerous cameras and sensors. Four sensors sit beneath the front glass for hand tracking, while two circular sensors near the nose cutout track the lower field of view. A proximity sensor near the forehead helps detect the user’s surroundings, such as walls, floors, and ceilings.
Inside, the headset includes dual cameras beside each lens for eye tracking, paired with infrared LEDs and AI-based algorithms that monitor eye movement and pupil position in real time.
The Galaxy XR reportedly sports 4K micro-LED displays with a pixel density of 4,032 PPI, totaling around 29 million pixels. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, which has been jointly optimised by Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google for superior mixed-reality performance.
Audio and usability have also been carefully designed. The headset comes with multiple microphones that isolate the user’s voice from background noise and enhance others’ voices for clearer conversations. Speakers are built into the head strap, while the right side features a touchpad for easy navigation. A long tap re-centres content and a double tap toggles between VR and passthrough modes.
On the top, there are two physical controls, a “Top” button on the right for launching the main interface and a volume rocker on the left. Air vents along the bottom provide cooling during extended use.
According to previous updates, we know Samsung’s XR headset supports advanced multimodal input such as –

Software-wise, the Galaxy XR runs on “One UI XR”, layered over Google’s new headset-focused OS. The interface will feel familiar to Galaxy smartphone users featuring app icons for Samsung, Google, and third-party platforms like Netflix and Calm. A top menu bar offers quick access to the home panel, Google Search, Gemini, settings, notifications and more, alongside the date and time.
Samsung is also adding support for controllers within the Galaxy XR ecosystem. These controllers will offer 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF), analogue sticks, and haptic feedback for enhanced 3D interaction.
Battery life is rated for up to 2.5 hours of video playback and around 2 hours of general use.
The headsets are expected to debut later this month.
