Samsung has recently rolled out the Android 14-based OneUI 6.0 update for its Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, a robust and rugged tablet designed for tough environments.
This update is the second major Android OS update the device has received since its launch and it might just significantly enhance its functionality and user experience.
As per Sammobile, the latest update, with firmware version T636BXXU4CWL5, is a comprehensive upgrade, boasting a size of over 2GB.
Users will notice a revamped Quick Panel layout, offering a more intuitive access to toggles and settings.
The update also introduces a fresh default font, redesigned emojis, and new options for customizing the lock screen clock widget.
Furthermore, the update is said to enhance media playback with a new lock screen and notifications area widget, complete with waveform animations for a visually engaging experience.
Samsung has also refined its stock apps, including the Camera app, simplifying their interfaces while adding new functionalities.
The image and video editors, notably the rebranded Samsung Studio, now offer more prominent controls and draft-saving capabilities for ongoing projects.
The Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, equipped with a 10.1-inch TFT LCD and a resolution of 1920 x 1200, is powered by an octa-core processor, believed to be the Snapdragon 778G SoC.
Available in two configurations, it offers either 4GB RAM with 64GB storage or 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, expandable via microSD up to 1TB.
The tablet’s 7,600mAh battery provides reliable endurance, and uniquely, it features a user-removable battery, a rarity in modern tablets.
This functionality adds to the device’s practicality in various work environments.
Its build quality is further reinforced with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and a MIL-STD-810H certification, making it a rugged companion of choice is testing conditions.
Other notable specifications include a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and robust connectivity options including 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The tablet also includes a USB-C port and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
The One UI 6.0 update brings a new Quick Panel layout, a redesigned font and emojis, enhanced lock screen customization, and a media playback widget with waveform animations. It also updates stock apps for a more streamlined user experience.
The update refines the Camera app interface and adds features to Samsung Studio, the built-in image and video editor. Users can now save drafts and access improved editing controls.

One UI 6 offers a revamped interface, including an enhanced quick settings panel, Samsung DeX improvements, and lock screen customization.
It also introduces new widgets, improved camera controls, and a fresh emoji style on the Samsung keyboard.
Mid-range Samsung models like the Galaxy A52 and A72 are part of the second phase of the rollout, scheduled to receive the update by November 30. The Galaxy A04s, XCover 5, and A25 5G will follow in early to mid-December.
