While the Galaxy A55 was launched in March 2024 with Android 14, it has already received the Android 15-based One UI 7. Now, with Android 16 in testing, the phone is on track to receive its second major OS update, and Samsung still plans to give it two more big Android updates in the future.

Samsung has picked up the pace with One UI 8 development across its lineup. The company is already preparing to ship its upcoming foldables on July 9 with One UI 8 pre-installed. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 series has joined the Beta Program and more older flagships are also testing Android 16 internally.

Samsung promises that One UI 8 will bring more than just new features. It’s expected to refine the overall user interface and user experience to make it a meaningful upgrade. This version is also very likely to bring deeper AI integration and advanced features tailored for flagship phones.
