Xiaomi has announced a new lineup of Redmi products at its latest event. While Redmi Turbo 5 Max mostly took the centre stage, the company also introduced the more affordable yet performance-focused Redmi Turbo 5 alongside. This model brings flagship-grade hardware at a lower price point. Here’s more about Redmi Turbo 5, starting with its price and availability.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is already available for purchase in China.
Pricing starts at 1,999 yuan (around $287 or Rs. 26,430 approx.) for the base variant and goes up depending on the configuration. Variant-wise price is as follows –
The device is available in Shadow Black, Light Sea Green, and Auspicious Cloud White colour options.
The Redmi Turbo 5 becomes the first smartphone to debut MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset. Built on a 4nm process, the processor is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To manage heat efficiently, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with its 3D ice-sealed circulating cold pump cooling system, a solution also used in its flagship devices.
The smartphone also introduces a new “Rampage Engine”, designed to fine-tune CPU, GPU, and DDR frequencies, helping deliver more stable performance during demanding tasks and extended gaming sessions.
For display, the Redmi Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel uses its Super Sunlight Screen technology, built with M10 luminescent material and capable of reaching up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The display also includes Xiaomi’s eye protection features to reduce strain during prolonged usage.
Powering the device is a large 7,560mAh battery, which supports 100W wired fast charging along with 27W wireless charging.
Camera hardware remains modest, as the Redmi Turbo 5 focuses more on performance. It comes with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor on the rear, while a 20MP camera handles selfies and video calls.
In terms of design, the Redmi Turbo 5 adopts a more refined look compared to earlier Turbo models. It features a metal frame, a glass back panel, a clean vertical camera layout, slim bezels, and rounded corners.
For durability, the phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance. Additional features include kilometre-level wireless connectivity, improved compatibility with Apple devices, and cross-platform support for file transfers and notification sharing.
