Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi K90 Max in China introducing a major innovation in smartphone cooling. The device becomes the first Xiaomi phone to feature a built-in active cooling fan alongside flagship-grade hardware and gaming-focused features. Here’s everything about the new device starting with price and availability.
The Redmi K90 Max starts at 3,499 yuan (approximately $513) in China. With limited-time discounts and national subsidies, the effective starting price drops to 2,549 yuan (around $373) although the official pricing remains as follows –
The smartphone is available in Space Silver, Shadow Black and Sky Blue colour options.
About the design and build, Redmi K90 Max features an aluminium alloy frame with slim bezels and a clean, minimal design.
The standout feature of the Redmi K90 Max is its integrated cooling fan measuring 18.1mm in diameter, which the company claims is larger than most existing implementations. The system uses a vertical air intake with forward-leaning blades to enhance airflow efficiency.

It is paired with a sealed air duct and a vortex-style airflow structure designed to minimise turbulence. According to Xiaomi’s internal tests, this cooling mechanism can reduce temperatures by up to 10°C within approximately 100 seconds. Users can choose between three adjustable fan modes with noise levels going up to 32dB.
The fan is built using an all-metal bearing system and has passed a 50,000-hour durability test. Xiaomi is also offering a six-year warranty on the fan and lifetime free cleaning for customers who purchase the device before May 5.
Despite the inclusion of a cooling fan, the device carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The Redmi K90 Max is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset paired with a dedicated AI-based D2 discrete graphics chip. This combination is designed to deliver high-performance gaming supporting 1.5K resolution gameplay at refresh rates of up to 165Hz across a wide range of titles.

The display uses M10 backlight technology that supports full-brightness DC dimming and includes a low 1-nit brightness mode along with a dedicated eye protection setting tailored for gaming.
The device is backed by a large 8,550mAh single-cell battery, which supports 100W wired fast charging. For photography, the Redmi K90 Max sports a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor (1/1.55-inch) and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
