Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi 15A 5G in India as a new addition to its budget smartphone lineup. This is the third model in the Redmi 15 series and marks the first time the company has launched an ‘A’ variant in this number series. Here’s more on the newly launched smartphone.
The Redmi 15A will go on sale starting April 3 via Flipkart, Mi.com, and authorised Xiaomi retail stores.
The price in India starts at ₹12,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at ₹14,499, while the top-end model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage comes in at ₹16,499.
The smartphone is available in three colour options, which are Ace Black, Awesome Blue, and Amaze Purple.
The new Redmi 15A sports a large 6.9-inch HD+ display with a dynamic refresh rate that switches between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. The display also supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate and offers peak brightness of up to 800 nits.
Under the hood, the Redmi 15A is powered by an octa-core Unisoc T8300 5G processor built on a 6nm process, paired with a Mali-G57 GPU. It offers up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The device supports virtual RAM expansion, and storage can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card.
The dual-SIM smartphones runs on Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 skin. The company is promising long-term support, including up to four years of Android updates and six years of security patches. The phone also brings AI-powered features such as Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and Xiaomi Interconnectivity.
For photography, the smartphone features a dual rear camera setup with a 32-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a single LED flash. On the front, it houses an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The phone comes with an IP52 rating, offering basic protection against dust and water.
The phone is backed by a 6,300mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging. It also supports 7.5W wired reverse charging. The battery is claimed to deliver up to two days of usage on a single charge.
In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 15A supports 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack, USB OTG, and a USB Type-C port. It also includes essential sensors such as an ambient light sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, and a fingerprint scanner. The device is equipped with stereo speakers for enhanced audio output.
The handset measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 8.15mm and weighs 210 grams.
