Realme is reportedly preparing to introduce its next Neo-series smartphone. According to fresh leaks, the Realme Neo 8 is expected to launch in January 2026. The device is also said to arrive in India and other global markets under a different name, possibly as the Realme GT 8. Here’s what we know about the smartphone based on recent leaks.
Famous Indian tipster Abhishek Yadav @yabhishekhd on X recently shared details about the phone’s launch timeline, global branding and some of its key specifications.
As per the X post, the Realme Neo 8 will first launch in China, followed by a global rollout under an alternate branding likely the Realme GT 8.
In terms of performance, the Realme Neo 8 is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. This setup indicates a strong focus on near-flagship performance, aimed at users who prioritise speed, gaming, and long-term performance.
The smartphone is expected to feature an AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Other leaks point towards a flat LTPS panel with 1.5K resolution and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.
Battery performance is expected to be one of the key highlights of the Neo 8. Recent reports, including one from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, suggest the phone could pack a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging.
Additionally, a Realme smartphone bearing the model number RMX8899, believed to be the Neo 8, has surfaced on China’s 3C certification website confirming 80W charging support. However, the listing does not disclose the battery capacity.
Further details shared indicate that the Realme Neo 8 may feature a metal frame with a glass back panel. The device is also tipped to include an X-axis linear motor for improved haptic feedback, along with modern connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
It could also offer IP68 or IP69-rated dust and water resistance. On the software side, the phone is expected to ship with Android 16-based Realme UI 7. Camera details remain limited, though a 50-megapixel primary sensor has been hinted at.
If the Realme Neo 8 launches globally as the Realme GT 8, it would be positioned below the Realme GT 8 Pro in the lineup. The GT 8 Pro launched in India last month with a starting price of Rs 72,999 and offers premium features such as a QHD+ AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and an advanced camera setup that includes a 200-megapixel telephoto lens.
