According to a recent post by popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, Realme is shifting its yearly flagship launch schedule starting with Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro. This marks a significant change from the company’s recent approach. Last year, Realme unveiled the GT 7 Pro in November, but the standard GT 7 didn’t arrive until May 2025.
That staggered launch not only split the spotlight between the two models but also highlighted a considerable difference in hardware.
While the GT 7 Pro came equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the regular GT 7 was powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e.
This time around, Realme seems to be aiming for a level playing field. The leak suggests that both the GT 8 and GT 8 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850), Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship processor that’s expected to bring significant performance improvements.
Additionally, both phones are rumoured to bring competitive upgrades across the board including enhancements in display quality, periscope zoom capabilities, and battery life. This would position the flagship phones directly against other leading Android flagships.
The Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to feature a flat 6.85-inch 2K OLED display from Samsung, complete with the same AR anti-glare coating used on the “Galaxy S25 Ultra.” Under the hood, it will reportedly pack a battery rated above 7,000mAh, housed within a metal middle frame. Fast charging support is also on the cards with speeds up to “100W.”
On the camera front, the highlight is expected to be a “200-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor”, possibly the Samsung HP9, which is also rumoured to appear on Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro.
That’s all the information currently available about the GT 8 Pro. Details about the standard GT 8 remain under wraps for now, but more should surface soon.
