Realme has officially teased the launch of its upcoming Realme 16 5G smartphone in India, putting an end to recent speculation. Earlier, a leaked retail box shared by a tipster on X suggested that the device could debut in the second week of April 2026. Now, the launch has been further confirmed with a dedicated microsite going live on Flipkart. Here’s what we know so far.
The Flipkart microsite reveals that Realme is marketing the device as “India’s first selfie-mirror phone.” One of the standout features highlighted is a unique rear camera module that includes a built-in mirror. This setup is designed to help users take “rear selfies” more effectively, especially for group shots.
According to a video teaser shared by the company, capturing these shots involves three simple steps. Users will have to twist the phone, frame the shot using the rear camera and then capture wider portraits with better accuracy.
The microsite also mentions an “Air Design,” which is claimed to offer a lightweight build along with a premium, gleaming finish. So far, only the white colour option has been teased.
Globally known as the “White Swan” variant, it features a colour-shifting blue-to-purple gradient that changes depending on lighting conditions.
The Realme 16 5G had earlier appeared on India’s BIS certification platform with the model number “RMX5171,” indicating an imminent launch in the country. Additionally, the leaked retail box unit has revealed several key specifications of the smartphone.
As per the leak, the device is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 Turbo processor. It may feature a 50MP Sony IMX852 rear camera and a 50MP front-facing selfie camera.
The smartphone is also said to come with a 120Hz AMOLED display offering up to 4200 nits peak brightness, along with a large 7000mAh “Titan” battery. Other expected features include IP69-rated water and dust resistance and support for multiple 5G bands including n1, n3, n5, n8, n28B, n40, n41, n77, and n78.
The device is likely to be available in an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. Additionally, the retail box leak also mentions another colour option called “Air Black.”
When compared to the global version, the Realme 16 5G appears to retain the same specifications and overall design.
