Poco F4 5G Update: Confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 870 SoC

Recently POCO unveiled its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1- powered smartphone in April. POCO F4 GT is the recent addition to its popular F series, launched with Snapdragon’s flagship chipset and liquid cooling technology. The specs for the upcoming POCO F4 5G have not been revealed yet, but the company did announce new information that can actually help to make a guess. Here is all that we know about it:

POCO F4 5G to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC

POCO’s Indian branch has announced that their upcoming F4 5G will feature Snapdragon 870 SoC. There is no other information yet revealed about the smartphone but the company has already confirmed that it’s coming with the best optimized 8-series chipset.

 POCO F4 GT was released with the flagship chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Now the upcoming 5G –enabled model is also confirmed to sport the best optimized Snapdragon 8-series chip. Now, what is so great about the chipset? Or what’s there that functions so dynamically, let’s have a quick look at it:

Snapdragon 870 processor

It is said to be the most optimized and powerful 8-series chipset. The Snapdragon 870 processor is known as Qualcomm’s annual god U. This chip is based on TSMC’s 7nm process. The CPU contains one A77 (3.2GHz) super core, three A77 (2.42GHz) large cores and four A55 (1.8GHz) ) small nuclei.

Only the premium tier smartphones can have the privilege to sport this chipset to power up their CPU. It is also called the connectivity powerhouse, featuring both the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System and the Qualcomm FastConnect 6800 Subsystem. It is capable of giving the users high speeds, increased capacity, and widespread accessibility no matter where they connect with 5G.

POCO F4 5G images surfaced online: Said to be a rebranded Redmi K40S

Recently, following the postings from a Weibo account, the images for POCO’s upcoming F4 5G were spotted online. The leaked images show the design of this upcoming smartphone. The images reveal that the phone might feature a triple camera configuration on the rear headlined by a 64MP lens paired with OIS.

Similarly, there was some information spotted on Geekbench related to the storage options and operating system of the upcoming POCO F4 5G. The smartphone is also expected to feature Android 12 paired with 8GB RAM.

Interestingly, the upcoming phone is said to be a rebranded Redmi K40S. It is expected to feature a higher-resolution primary lens (64MP instead of 48MP). The Redmi K40S is known for its amazing gaming performance and hence, F4 5G is also expected to come with the same performance. The rest of the specs for K40S includes a 6.67″ FullHD+ AMOLED screen paired with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 20MP selfie unit, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and a 4,500 mAh battery with 67W charging as well.

POCO F4 5G is also spotted with a two-step camera bump paired with three lenses. Also, these all were arranged in a triangle, as shown. The design itself gives a striking resemblance to the Redmi K50, K50 Pro and K40S.
