Google’s Pixel 10 series is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Android launches of the year. While Google has yet to make anything official, new leaks are giving us a clearer picture of what to expect including the launch date, details about the Pixel 10 Pro prototype and even some new ringtones.

Pixel 10 Launch Date and Pre-Orders

According to a report from Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 series will be officially launched on August 20, 2025, with pre-orders starting the same day. That’s a week later than the Pixel 9 series, which launched on August 13, 2024.

Pre-orders will also begin on August 13 for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Meanwhile, some reports claim that Pixel Watch 4 can also be announced on this date, although no official confirmation on that has been made yet.

If the timeline holds, the Pixel 10 series will start shipping on August 28, 2025, just eight days after launch.

Before that, Google is planning a special pre-launch event for “Superfans” on June 27.

Pixel 10 Pro Prototype Surfaces

A prototype of the Pixel 10 Pro has also leaked, showing up on the Chinese social platform Coolapk. The prototype carries the codename ‘blazer’ and is labelled as ‘DVT1.0’, which stands for Design Verification Test.

This early version confirms a few key hardware specs. The Tensor G5 chip will use a configuration of 1x Cortex-X4, 2x Cortex-A725, 3x Cortex-A725, and 2x Cortex-A520 cores. While the image mentions a 5nm process, tipster Mystic Leaks claims it’s actually built on a 3nm process.

The prototype also reveals 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage with a 512GB model likely on the way. It will ship with Android 16 out of the box.

Design-wise, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn’t look too different from its predecessor and includes triple rear cameras. Based on earlier rumours, the camera setup could include –

  • 50MP 1/1.31″ Samsung GNV main sensor
  • 48MP 1/2.55″ Sony IMX858 ultra-wide
  • A matching IMX858 telephoto and front camera

Pixel 10 – New Ringtones and Sounds (Leaked)

There’s more! Tech & Leaks Zone on Telegram shared some new system sounds claimed to be from the Pixel 10 series. These include an updated ringtone, notification chime and alarm sound.

  • “The next adventure” is the new ringtone, a refreshed version of “Your new adventure.” It’s more upbeat and feels like it could be from a video game, while still sounding familiar.
  • “Kernel” is the new notification sound. It’s similar to “Eureka,” but slightly softer and more refined.
  • “Fresh Morning” is the new alarm tone. It starts gently and builds in volume and pace, a calm and gradual way to wake up.

All three sounds share melodies with existing tones like “Bright Morning” and “Fresh Start,” but with new instruments and updated pacing.

You can listen to these new sounds in the above video that’s making the rounds online. Some users even shared an APK allegedly pulled from a Pixel 10 Pro that includes the sounds, though it’s wise to be cautious, installing random APKs can be risky.

It’s also worth noting that these might not be the default sounds on the Pixel 10 series. And if you’re upgrading from an older Pixel, your current sound settings will probably carry over during setup.

More details are expected to leak as the official launch gets closer.

WhatsApp Username Feature in the Works, PIN Protection Also Coming Soon

0

Highlights

  • WhatsApp is developing a username system allowing users to connect without sharing their phone numbers.
  • The feature was spotted in beta testing and usernames will replace phone numbers in chats once fully rolled out.
  • WhatsApp is working on a PIN feature where users must enter a PIN before messaging someone via their username.

WhatsApp is finally getting ready to roll out a new usernames feature that users have been waiting for a long time. With this, you’ll soon be able to connect with others without sharing your phone number. Here’s everything we know.

WhatsApp Username Feature Spotted in Beta

According to trusted source WABetaInfo, the username feature was spotted in a recent TestFlight beta version of the app. It’s still in development, but it looks like users will eventually be able to pick a unique handle, similar to what you see on Telegram, Signal and other messaging apps.

Revealing the details of the feature, WABetaInfo said, “WhatsApp appears to be actively refining the ability to configure a username ahead of its official beta release, aiming to provide users with a more optimized experience from the outset. Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.17.10.70 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to choose a username for phone number privacy!”

While it’s not live yet even for beta users, WABetaInfo found clues in the app’s code that suggest WhatsApp is actively working on building the username system and the rules around it.

Once usernames go live, people who contact you without knowing your phone number will only see your username.

image

Caption – WhatsApp username rules. (Image credit – WABetaInfo)

There are already a few rules in place for usernames. They can’t start with “www.” to avoid confusion with websites. Each username must include at least one letter, so it can’t be made up of only numbers or symbols. WhatsApp is also limiting characters to lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), periods, and underscores to keep things clean and easy to understand.

Once you choose a valid username, WhatsApp will confirm it with a fun confetti animation. From that point on, your username will show up in chats and groups instead of your phone number.

If you change your username later, WhatsApp plans to send a system message in your chats just like it does when you update your profile photo or phone number.

Username PIN Feature Also Spotted

That’s not all. WABetaInfo in a separate report also shared details of a support feature for the usernames. WABetaInfo also found signs of another privacy feature in the works, which will be the ability to set a PIN for your username.

WABetaInfo reveals that the feature was spotted following the release of the Android 2.25.17.48 update, which is available on the Google Play Store.

This feature is meant to stop unwanted messages. It lets you add an extra layer of protection by setting a PIN that others must enter before they can message you using your username. Even if someone knows your username, they won’t be able to contact you unless they also have your PIN.

image

Caption – WhatsApp username PIN feature in works. (Image credit – WABetaInfo)

WhatsApp is expected to encourage users to set a PIN right after picking a username. The goal is to cut down on spam or random messages from strangers.

If you don’t set a PIN, WhatsApp will show a reminder banner at the top of your Chats tab, suggesting you enable it for better privacy. This is especially useful if your username is short, common, or easy to guess.

The PIN feature is designed to give you full control over who can contact you through your username. You can choose to share your PIN only with trusted people. It’s an extra step, but one that adds a strong layer of security to username-based messaging.

As of now, both the username and PIN features are still in development and not available for testing. But their appearance in recent beta builds shows that WhatsApp is getting closer to making them official.

FAQs

Q1. How will WhatsApp usernames improve privacy?

Answer. WhatsApp is introducing a username system that allows users to connect without sharing their phone numbers. When this feature goes live, people who contact you without knowing your phone number will only see your username instead.

Q2. What are the rules for creating a WhatsApp username?

Answer. Usernames must include at least one letter and cannot start with “www.” to avoid confusion with websites. They are restricted to lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), periods, and underscores to keep them clean and easy to understand.

Q3. How does the PIN protection for usernames work?

Answer. WhatsApp is developing a PIN feature to prevent unwanted messages. This allows users to set a PIN, which others must enter before messaging them via their username. Even if someone knows your username, they won’t be able to contact you unless they also have your PIN.

Apple is gearing up for its Worldwide Developers Conference 2025 (WWDC), which is scheduled to run from June 9 to June 13 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. However, just ahead of the event, reports are hinting that Apple’s upcoming WWDC 2025 is shaping up to be more low-key than previous years.

According to reports, this year’s event will be smaller in scale with no major new hardware announcements and limited AI breakthroughs.

Why WWDC 2025 Might Feel Smaller?

In the past, Apple has used WWDC to launch both exciting software updates and major hardware like the Vision Pro at WWDC 2023 and Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024. But this time around, there’s no big hardware reveal lined up, which could make the event feel more toned down.

Unlike recent years, Apple reportedly won’t showcase any new devices during the keynote.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is holding back on big AI updates this time, which has sparked some internal concern about falling behind rivals like OpenAI and Google.

The spotlight this year will be on design, specifically, a visionOS-style redesign across all platforms such as iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26 and watchOS 26. Expect more translucent, glass-like elements inspired by Apple’s mixed reality interface.

What to Expect at WWDC 2025?

Even without big hardware or major AI breakthroughs, WWDC 2025 will still bring a few meaningful updates –

  • Swift Assist Improvements – Apple’s developer tools will get better, making coding on Apple platforms smoother.
  • New Rich Text Editor for SwiftUI – A much-requested feature for developers to improve app creation workflows.
  • On-Device AI for Developers – Apple might allow third-party devs to integrate its AI models into their apps. However, these models are expected to be smaller and less powerful than those from OpenAI or Google.

In short, WWDC 2025 will focus more on refining Apple’s ecosystem rather than making bold leaps.

FAQs

Q1. Will Apple announce new hardware at WWDC 2025?

Answer. No, reports suggest there won’t be any major hardware announcements this year, making it a more low-key event compared to previous WWDCs.

Q2. What software changes can users expect?

Answer. Apple is focusing on design updates, bringing a visionOS-style, glass-like look to iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26.

Q3. Will WWDC 2025 include new AI advancements?

Answer. Apple may introduce on-device AI for developers, but reports suggest its AI models will be smaller and less powerful than OpenAI or Google’s offerings.

GTA 6 May Let Civilians Call 911, Changing How You Play Forever

0

Highlights

  • Civilians might call 911 in GTA 6 as leaks suggest NPCs could report crimes.
  • NPCs may react differently and creating a more immersive open-world experience.
  • Rockstar is aiming for realism and making GTA 6 one of the most reactive and unpredictable open-world games yet.

image

As Rockstar Games gears up for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, fans are already buzzing about what could be the most immersive GTA world yet. Among all the rumours and trailer teases, one small but potentially huge feature that stands out is the civilians calling 911.

If true, this could completely change how chaos and consequences work in Vice City. Here’s everything we know so far.

Civilians Calling 911 in GTA 6

In previous GTA games, causing trouble like stealing a car or attacking someone would automatically trigger a police response based on scripted rules. But that might be different in GTA 6.

Leaks and trailer hints suggest that NPCs might actually call the cops when they see something happening.

This idea fits Rockstar’s push for realism, especially considering the detailed NPC systems in Red Dead Redemption 2. If people on the street can react and report crimes, even smaller acts of mischief might snowball into full police chases.

That means players will need to think twice before causing trouble, because someone nearby might be watching and ready to dial 911.

Smarter AI in Vice City

GTA 6 trailers also hint at smarter and more dynamic civilian behaviour. Instead of everyone just running away in fear, some characters might react differently. This could include hiding, filming crimes on their phones, or even trying to step in themselves.

If Rockstar pulls this off, it could push GTA’s AI ahead of other open-world games like Watch Dogs or Cyberpunk 2077. Rather than just reacting to pre-set triggers, the game world itself might respond to your actions, creating a deeper feedback loop where every choice really matters.

While Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed this 911 feature yet, it’s a strong possibility based on the direction the studio seems to be heading. And if it does make it into the final game, it could mean a more intelligent, reactive and immersive Vice City, one where every move you make comes with real-time consequences.

In short, playing Grand Theft Auto might never feel the same again if civilians can call 911 in GTA 6.

FAQs

Q1. Will civilians be able to call 911 in GTA 6?

Answer. Leaks suggest NPCs might report crimes, making police chases more dynamic and increasing the consequences of player actions.

Q2. How will AI interactions change in GTA 6?

Answer. NPCs may react differently, some might hide, film crimes, or even intervene, creating a more immersive and unpredictable open-world experience.

Q3. What is Rockstar’s goal with GTA 6 AI improvements?

Answer. The studio aims for realism, pushing AI advancements to make Vice City more reactive, ensuring player choices have real-time consequences.

  • Samsung is reportedly finalising a deal to preload Perplexity’s AI-powered search tools on future products.
  • Galaxy S26 could feature Perplexity as the default assistant embedded into its browser and enhance Bixby.
  • The tech giant is expected to join Perplexity’s funding round to help diversify its AI strategy.

Samsung is reportedly in the final stages of closing a major deal to preload Perplexity AI’s technology on its future devices. According to a report by Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter say the plan is to integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered search into Samsung products to boost the company’s AI features.

Perplexity AI Could Be Default on Galaxy S26

The agreement could lead to Perplexity’s app and assistant being preloaded on upcoming Samsung devices, starting with the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected to launch in the first half of 2026. Samsung also wants to make it a default assistant option for users.

As part of the discussions, Samsung is looking to build Perplexity’s search tools directly into its web browser, offering users a more powerful and AI-driven search experience.

There are also plans to bring Perplexity’s features to Bixby, Samsung’s existing virtual assistant. However, final terms of the deal are still being worked out and could change.

Samsung May Invest in Perplexity

Samsung is also expected to become one of the top investors in Perplexity’s upcoming funding round. The AI startup is reportedly aiming to raise $500 million at a $14 billion valuation.

This move could help Samsung reduce its dependence on Google and take a more diverse approach to AI, something Apple has also been exploring.

For Perplexity, this could become its biggest mobile deal yet, following a recent partnership with Motorola. Meanwhile, Apple has also been in talks with Perplexity to potentially integrate the AI search tool into Siri, offering users an alternative to Google Search and ChatGPT.

It’s still unclear how Samsung’s potential partnership might affect those discussions.

As for impact, it is well-known that Google has been under investigation by the DOJ for unfair practices like integrating its Assistant or Gemini as the default on Android devices. As multiple reports pointed out, a possible Samsung deal with Perplexity AI could actually work in Google’s favour from this perspective.

FAQs

Q1. What is Samsung planning with Perplexity AI?

Answer. Samsung is finalising a deal to preload Perplexity’s AI-powered search tools on future devices, including direct integration into its web browser.

Q2. Will Perplexity AI be the default assistant on Galaxy S26?
