Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. While rumours about a foldable iPhone have been circulating for years, Gurman confirms that Apple is actively working on it. Unlike a clamshell-style foldable, this device will have a book-style fold, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.

Apple’s foldable iPhone will borrow key technologies from the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which is set to be one of Apple’s thinnest products ever, measuring just 5.5mm thick.

The iPhone 17 Air will make some compromises, particularly with speakers and cameras, but will still deliver the full iPhone experience, including solid battery life.

Apple is using this ultra-thin design as a testbed to see how many components can fit in a slimmer form factor, an essential step toward making a foldable iPhone.

Apple’s Foldable iPhone – What We Know So Far?

  • Expected Price: Around $2,000
  • Release Year: 2026 (part of the iPhone 18 lineup)
  • Outer Display: 5.5 inches
  • Inner Display: 7.8 inches (similar to an iPad mini)
  • Availability: Limited at first as production ramps up

While details are still scarce, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that the foldable iPhone will feature a compact outer display and a larger inner screen, offering a tablet-like experience.

Revealing details in their blog, Kuo wrote, “The foldable iPhone will have a book-style design, featuring an approximately 7.8-inch crease-free inner display and an approximately 5.5-inch outer display.”

According to the same blog post, it was also disclosed that the “final specs will be locked in 2Q25, with the official project kickoff in 3Q25 and mass production slated for 4Q26.”

With Apple’s focus on ultra-thin designs and foldable tech, 2026 could be a major turning point for iPhones.

Future Apple Watch Models Could Get Cameras As Part of AI Push, Apple Watch SE’s Plastic Design In Jeopardy, Says Gurman

0

Highlights

  • Apple is exploring camera-equipped Apple Watch models to align with its AI-driven Visual Intelligence strategy for release by 2027.
  • Plans for a plastic Apple Watch SE face hurdles due to design aesthetics and cost, making its future uncertain.
  • The upcoming Ultra model is expected to include satellite texting and 5G connectivity with advancements in AI integration.

Apple is exploring ways to make the Apple Watch a more AI-driven wearable and one of the key changes could be the addition of cameras. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on multiple versions of future Apple Watch models that will include cameras to help the device “see the outside world.”

This move aligns with Apple’s broader AI strategy, particularly its Visual Intelligence technology, which the company also plans to bring to AirPods. Right now, Visual Intelligence heavily relies on ChatGPT and Google, but Apple wants to change that.

Gurman writes, “Apple’s ultimate plan for Visual Intelligence goes far beyond the iPhone. The company wants to put the feature at the core of future devices, including the camera-equipped AirPods that I’ve been writing about for several months. Along the way, Apple also wants to shift Visual Intelligence toward its own AI models, rather than those from OpenAI and Google.”

Apple is reportedly developing camera-equipped versions of both the standard Apple Watch and the Ultra model. The standard Apple Watch will have the camera built directly into the display, similar to the iPhone. However, it’s unclear whether this would use under-display technology or require a visible cutout.

Meanwhile, the camera in the Apple Watch Ultra would be placed on the side of the watch, next to the digital crown and side button. This placement would make it easier for Ultra users to point their wrists at objects to scan.

According to Gurman, these camera-equipped Apple Watch models won’t launch before 2027, alongside the rumoured AirPods with cameras. Apple’s AI teams are still working on the underlying technology, and a recent executive shake-up could impact development timelines.

Apple Watch SE’s Plastic Design in Jeopardy

Meanwhile, Apple’s rumoured plan to switch the next-generation Apple Watch SE to a plastic design is facing serious challenges.

Last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple was considering using rigid plastic for the Watch SE to lower costs. However, Gurman now says this plan is “in serious jeopardy” because the design team doesn’t like how it looks and the company hasn’t been able to make it cheaper than the current aluminium casing.

Gurman explains, “And the redesigned, plastic Apple Watch SE I’ve written about is also in serious jeopardy. The design team doesn’t like the look, and the operations team is finding it difficult to make the casing materially cheaper than the current aluminium chassis.”

It remains to be seen whether Apple will overcome these issues. However, the Apple Watch SE is nearly three years old, so a refresh is likely in the next six months.

Moreover, Gurman reiterates that the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra will gain satellite texting support and 5G connectivity.

FAQs

Q1. When will camera-equipped Apple Watch models be introduced?

Answer. Camera-equipped Apple Watch models are expected to launch by 2027, as part of Apple’s AI-driven Visual Intelligence strategy.

Q2. What challenges is Apple facing with the plastic design for the Apple Watch SE?

Answer. The plastic design for the Apple Watch SE is facing hurdles due to unappealing aesthetics and difficulty in making it cheaper than the current aluminium casing.

Q3. What new features are expected in the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra?

Answer. The next-generation Apple Watch Ultra is anticipated to include satellite texting support and 5G connectivity.

Apple to Bring 2nm Chip Tech to Next Year’s iPhones: Report

0

Highlights

  • Apple plans to debut TSMC’s 2nm chip technology with its A20 chip in the iPhone 18 lineup next year.
  • It will make a major transition from the 3nm architecture used in the iPhone 17 series.
  • TSMC’s 2nm chips are expected to deliver 15% better performance with the same power consumption
  • It is still uncertain whether Apple’s M6 chip lineup for Macs in 2026 will incorporate 2nm technology.
image
Kuo reveals that Apple will adopt 2nm chip technology. (Image credit – Apple/9to5Mac)

Apple is set to take a big step forward in chip technology with next year’s iPhones. According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming A20 chip will use TSMC’s 2nm process for the first time. This means the entire iPhone 18 lineup is expected to move to this next-gen chip architecture. Previously, it wasn’t clear if all iPhone 18 models would make the switch.

Kuo reposted one of their September 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter) recently and wrote, “Reiterating my prediction from six months ago: the 2H26 new iPhones (iPhone 18) will be powered by TSMC’s 2nm chips. Worth noting, TSMC’s 2nm R&D trial yields reached 60–70% three months ago, and they’re now well above that.”

Kuo’s previous post specified, “The processors for 2025 iPhone 17 models will be made by TSMC’s N3P process/3-nanometer technology. The processor for 2026 iPhone 18 models is anticipated to use TSMC’s 2-nanometer technology. However, due to cost concerns, not all new iPhone 18 models may be equipped with a 2-nanometer processor.”

For this year, the iPhone 17 series will feature TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, known as N3P. While newer chip architectures generally improve performance and efficiency, the biggest gains typically come with major node transitions like this one.

Apple first introduced 3nm chips in 2023 with the A17 Pro and M3 series. The move to 2nm next year will kick off a new three-year chip cycle, as usual. TSMC claims its 2nm chips will deliver about 15% better performance while maintaining the same power consumption.

Kuo also mentioned that TSMC’s trial production of 2nm chips had a 60-70% yield rate three months ago and has improved “well above that” since then.

It’s still uncertain whether Apple’s M6 chip lineup for Macs in 2026 will adopt 2nm technology, but there’s hope it will.

FAQs

Q1. When will Apple introduce 2nm chip technology in its devices?

Answer. Apple plans to introduce TSMC’s 2nm chip technology with the A20 chip in the iPhone 18 lineup next year.

Q2. What performance improvements are expected with TSMC’s 2nm chips?

Answer. TSMC’s 2nm chips are expected to deliver about 15% better performance while maintaining the same power consumption.

Q3. Will Apple’s M6 chip lineup adopt 2nm technology?

Answer. It is uncertain whether Apple’s M6 chip lineup for Macs in 2026 will adopt 2nm technology, but there is hope it will.

Google Pixel 9a VS iPhone 16e – Design and Display

Apple is known for its premium build quality, and the iPhone 16e keeps that tradition alive with an aluminium frame and glass back. On the other hand, Google went with a metal frame but opted for a plastic back on the Pixel 9a, likely to keep costs down.

However, Google takes the lead with its display. The Pixel 9a has a 6.3-inch pOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, HDR, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2700 nits.

The iPhone 16e, in comparison, features a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, HDR, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. Apple’s lack of a high refresh rate is still a letdown in 2025, especially when most competitors have moved beyond 60Hz.

Google Pixel 9a VS iPhone 16e – Performance

When it comes to raw power, Apple has the edge. The iPhone 16e is powered by the A18 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 16, making it great for gaming and demanding tasks.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 9a comes with the Tensor G4, the same chip as the Pixel 9 Pro. While Google’s Tensor chips aren’t known for raw performance, they handle everyday tasks well.

The iPhone 16e features iOS 18 and comes with six years of updates. It further brings Apple Intelligence features such as Writing tools, an Image Playground app (for creating unique pictures), Clean Up and more.

As for Pixel 9a, the phone has Android 15 and seven years of updates. Google AI features include Gemini, Pixel Studio (for creating stickers, images, and more), Pixel Call Assist and more.

Google Pixel 9a VS iPhone 16e – Battery and Charging

Google scores a win in battery life. The Pixel 9a packs a 5,100mAh battery, claimed to last up to 30 hours on a single charge. It supports 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging (Qi-certified).

Apple hasn’t revealed the iPhone 16e’s battery size, but it claims up to 21 hours of battery life. While that sounds decent, the iPhone misses out on MagSafe charging, which might be a dealbreaker for some.

Google Pixel 9a VS iPhone 16e – Cameras

Both phones deliver excellent photography, but the Pixel 9a offers a more versatile setup. It features a 40MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The iPhone 16e sticks to a single 48MP sensor with 2x lossless zoom, but no ultra-wide lens.

For selfies, the Pixel 9a has a 13MP front camera, while the iPhone 16e uses a 12MP sensor along with its Face ID suite. If you love ultra-wide shots, the Pixel is the better pick.

Google Pixel 9a VS iPhone 16e – Price and Verdict

Phone Variant Price
iPhone 16e 128GB Rs 59,900
iPhone 16e 256GB Rs 69,900
iPhone 16e 512GB Rs 89,900
Pixel 9a 8GB + 256GB Rs 49,999

At $599, the Pixel 9a gets you 256GB of storage, while the iPhone 16e offers only 128GB. That alone makes the Pixel 9a a better deal for most people. However, if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem or want to try an affordable iPhone, the iPhone 16e makes sense.

FAQs

Q1. Which phone has a better display, the Google Pixel 9a or the iPhone 16e?

Answer. The Pixel 9a has a better display with a 6.3-inch pOLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2700 nits brightness, compared to the iPhone 16e’s 6.1-inch OLED screen with 60Hz and 1200 nits brightness.

Q3. Which device offers better camera capabilities between the Google Pixel 9a and the iPhone 16e?

It appears Motorola is bringing some cool new back finishes with the upcoming Razr 60 Ultra. If true, this will be something different for fans to look forward to and a step away from the usual glass or metal build phones. Here’s what we know so far.

Leaked Video Shows the Razr 60 Ultra In Wooden Back

Popular tipster @evleaks on X (formerly Twitter) recently shared a 360-degree video of the Razr 60 Ultra also known as the Razr+ 2025. While the X account is now private, the video was quickly picked up by tech enthusiasts online and shared widely. The clip gives a clear view of the device opening and closing, highlighting the wood-grained rear panel.

It’s still unclear if the back is real wood or a high-quality imitation. The glossy finish seen in the video suggests it might not be genuine wood, but it still adds a classy and nostalgic touch. In times when brands are reducing packaging in the name of sustainability, chopping down trees for a stylish smartphone might not sit well with everyone.

This isn’t Motorola’s first attempt at wood-themed phones. The brand previously offered custom wood back panels for its Moto X series through the Moto Maker program. That feature was loved by users who appreciated the unique and premium feel.

It looks like Motorola is tapping into that same personalised aesthetic by bringing back a wood-like finish and offering something different in a market filled with lookalike smartphones.

The wooden back version of the Razr 60 Ultra is likely to be a premium option, but details on pricing and availability are still unknown. This device is shaping up to be a real standout with its foldable tech and classic wooden finish.

Truke Buds Elite – Design, Build Quality and Fit

Truke Buds Elite – Design, Build Quality and Fit

The Truke Buds Elite come in a sleek case that looks good and feels smooth in hand. It’s compact enough to slip into a small pocket or rest comfortably in your palm, making it easy to carry around. We had the Black colour variant for the review, which looks good.

On the front, there’s a small indicator light along with the Truke branding in silver. The build quality is solid. The hinge feels quite sturdy and it snaps shut securely making a sound when closed. The magnets inside hold the earbuds firmly in place, so there’s no worry about them falling out when opening the case.

As for the earbuds, the TWS have the same glassy finish as the case. Together both the case and the earbuds have quite a premium look. The earbuds are lightweight and fit comfortably in the ears. After using them for almost a week, we felt these are perfect for long listening sessions and don’t really make wearing the earbuds for long hours uncomfortable.

Moreover, with an IPX5 water resistance rating, they can handle sweat and light splashes, so they’re a good fit for workouts or outdoor use.

Truke Buds Elite – Sound and ENC Quality

Truke Buds Elite – Sound and ENC Quality

The Truke Buds Elite with 10mm dynamic audio drivers that promise to deliver a powerful and immersive audio experience. The bass is deep and rich, which makes them a good choice if you like punchy lows.

We felt Buds Elite to be a good pair of earbuds for regular everyday usage. Whether you’re listening to music, watching videos, or playing games, the sound feels well-balanced.

Speaking of gaming, the buds come with 40ms Ultra Low Latency. Our experience with gaming was decent. There were issues similar to not getting the sounds of footsteps clearly but considering the affordable segment, such issues are understandable.

The earbuds support AAC and SBC codecs. We felt the vocals sounded crisp and the highs and mids were decent without too much distortion at higher volumes.

Let’s talk about call quality. The earbuds feature dual microphones with Pure Voice ENC. It helps cut down on background noise for clearer conversations. We tried using the earbuds in different environments including slightly noisy areas and the voice clarity remained solid.

The ENC does a decent job of reducing unwanted noise. Since these are entry-level earbuds, you can’t really expect extraordinary performance. But these were good in making sure the person on the other end heard you without distractions.

Overall, the sound quality is impressive for the price segment and the calling experience is reliable even in slightly noisy surroundings.

Truke Buds Elite – Battery Support

Truke Buds Elite – Battery Support

Probably one of the strongest points of the Truke Buds Elite is the long battery life it comes with. You will get up to 70 hours of uninterrupted playtime as per the brand’s claim. As we tried testing the exact playtime, we were surprised that the real-world performance of the buds was quite close to the claims.

These earbuds easily last for days without needing a recharge. During our testing, we didn’t have to worry about constantly charging them.

It also comes with a Smart Rapid Charge feature. So, just a quick 10-minute charge gives you another good 8 to 9 hours of playback time.

Overall, the battery life is solid and the fast charging feature makes it even more convenient.
