A leaked prototype of the Apple Watch Series 10 suggests Apple may have had some interesting plans for last year’s model. While the official release brought a refreshed design, it kept the same health sensors as the Series 9. However, this prototype hints at features that never made it to the final version.
Apple Watch Series 10 Prototype – Unseen Health Sensor Arrangement
Apple leaker and collector StellaFudge shared images of the prototype on X (formerly Twitter) recently and revealed a “very unique health sensor arrangement.” The design differs not only from the Series 10 but from any Apple Watch released so far.

According to the leaker, the prototype’s heart rate and blood oxygen sensors are much smaller than Apple’s current ones. More interestingly, the back of the watch features an “extra light ring” positioned between the ECG and heart rate sensors, something never seen on an Apple Watch before.

Rumours have long suggested that Apple is developing blood pressure and blood glucose sensors for the Apple Watch. It’s believed that these new sensors were tested during the Series 10’s development but were ultimately delayed in favour of the updated design.
The leaked prototype was likely used for the internal testing of these health features.

Although the prototype is fully functional, it runs an internal version of watchOS 11.1. Since it doesn’t have stock apps installed, which can only be downloaded through Apple’s internal network, it’s unclear whether any new health features were included in the software.
Moreover, the prototype’s software build dates back to October 2024, which could mean that Apple is still experimenting with these advanced health sensors. There is a chance we will be able finally see them in the next Apple Watch.
