Foxconn is taking another big step in supporting Apple’s growing manufacturing presence in India. The company is now preparing to start making iPhone casings locally, a first for Foxconn in the country.

According to a report from The Economic Times, Foxconn is setting up a new facility at the ESR Industrial Park in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, dedicated to producing metal enclosures (or casings) for iPhones. Until now, Tata Electronics has been the only company manufacturing iPhone casings in India, and recently gained attention for becoming Apple’s new partner for iPhone and MacBook repairs in the country.

A new leak from the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo claims that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will finally feature under-display Face ID along with a camera hidden beneath the screen. This would allow Apple to move towards a more seamless, full-screen look.

What makes this leak more interesting is Apple’s reported use of HIAA (Hole-in-Active-Area) tech. This allows certain parts of the screen to become see-through by removing some pixels, making it possible for sensors like Face ID to work from behind the display.
