Oppo has just launched the Oppo A5 Pro internationally, but the global version comes with noticeable downgrades compared to the original model released in China in December 2024. Here’s what we know thanks to its listing on the Oppo e-store.
The biggest change between the China version of Oppo A5 Pro and what’s been launched internationally is the use of the older MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset in the global version instead of China’s Dimensity 7300. Other than that, both versions come with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, which can be expanded to 1TB via microSD.
The display also isn’t the same as the China version. The global model features a 6.67-inch LCD screen with a lower 1604 x 720p resolution, compared to the Chinese variant’s 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel. However, it still supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000-nit peak brightness.
The camera setup remains unchanged. Both versions sport a 50MP main sensor, a 2MP depth sensor on the back and an 8MP front camera. The phone keeps its tough build with IP66/68/69 dust and water resistance, MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability and 360° drop protection.
One of the biggest downgrades is the battery, which has been reduced from 6,000mAh to 5,800mAh. However, Oppo keeps the same 45W wired fast charging.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 5, 5G+5G dual SIM dual standby and ColorOS 15.
The in-the-box contents include an Oppo A5 Pro mobile phone (including a screen protector), charger, quick guide, Type C data cable, SIM card pin, safety guide and protective case.
Similar to the version launched in China last year, Oppo A5 Pro Global comes in two colour options including Flower Pink and Mocha Brown.
In Taiwan, the A5 Pro starts at NT$7,990 (about $243) for the 6GB + 128GB model, while the 8GB + 256GB version costs NT$9,490 (around $290).
