OnePlus 16 is expected to come out later this year if everything goes right. Although the company has not officially confirmed the OnePlus 16, we have new leaks that suggest major upgrades in display, performance and camera capabilities.
According to latest information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 could introduce a significantly enhanced display that may surpass the already impressive refresh rate seen on its predecessor. Here’s more on that.
The OnePlus 16 is tipped to feature a 6.78-inch custom BOE LTPO flat display with a 1.5K resolution. The panel is expected to use LIPO packaging technology, which could result in ultra-slim and symmetrical bezels measuring around 1mm on all sides.
In terms of refresh rate, the smartphone could offer one of the highest in the segment. The tipster claims that the minimum target is 185Hz, while the company is reportedly testing support for up to 240Hz. If this turns out to be accurate, it would be a notable upgrade over the OnePlus 15, which offers up to a 165Hz refresh rate.
Notably, other models like the OnePlus 15R and Nord 6 also support similarly high refresh rates.
The display is said to support the BT.2020 colour gamut and feature a custom touch control IC for improved responsiveness. The screen has been described as a “full-package flagship display”.
On the performance front, the OnePlus 16 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly carrying the model number SM8975. The device may also be paired with next-generation LPDDR6 RAM for improved multitasking and performance.
The smartphone is likely to compete with other upcoming flagship devices such as the iQOO 16, which is also rumoured to feature the same chipset.
In terms of optics, previous reports suggest that the OnePlus 16 could feature an upgraded triple rear camera setup with improved sensors and imaging performance. The highlight could be a periscope telephoto camera equipped with a 200-megapixel Samsung sensor.
Another notable upgrade could come in the form of a new “Glacier Battery”. The device is tipped to feature a battery capacity close to 9,000mAh, which would be a significant jump compared to the 7,300mAh battery on the OnePlus 15.
More official details are expected to emerge closer to the launch.
