Some of the most popular compact flagship smartphones are solving one of their biggest problems, which has been their struggle with the low battery life. The new high-density silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries are helping these smartphones to pack over 6,000mAh of battery capacity. A recent example is the OnePlus 13T, which features a massive 6,260mAh battery.
OnePlus 13T will launch in India soon as the OnePlus 13s. However, before the India launch, the phone was recently put to the test against a lineup of premium phones including the Xiaomi 15 Pro, Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pixel 9 Pro XL and the OnePlus 13.
Tech-oriented YouTube channel TechDroider recently posted a detailed Battery Drain Test using some of the popular compact flagship devices.
Below are the phones in the test and their battery capacities –
OnePlus 13T – 6,260mAh
OnePlus 13 – 6,000mAh
Xiaomi 15 Pro – 6,100mAh
Pixel 9 Pro XL – 5,060mAh
Galaxy S25 Ultra – 5,000mAh
iPhone 16 Pro Max – 4,685mAh
Despite the different chipsets, four of the six phones in the test use the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the Pixel and iPhone use the Tensor G4 and A18 Pro, respectively. Meanwhile, the varying screen sizes and resolutions, the test still gives a solid picture of real-world battery life.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL had the lowest battery percentage throughout the test and also ran the hottest. It was the first to power off. Next came the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which shut down just 14 minutes before the OnePlus 13. Surprisingly, even though Samsung reused much of its hardware from the previous Ultra, the software optimisation clearly helped it stay competitive.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro held on a bit longer than the Galaxy, lasting 19 minutes more, but it still powered off 6 minutes before the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple’s iPhones are known for squeezing out great battery life thanks to their A-series chips and software tuning, and that held true again.
But the real surprise was the compact OnePlus 13T. It kept running for another 32 minutes after the iPhone had already died, an impressive performance that highlights just how far battery tech has come in compact devices.
If this trend continues, we could be looking at a major leap in battery life across more phones in the near future, especially from Chinese brands that seem serious about optimising both hardware and software.
