Nothing has officially unveiled the Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition, a special-edition variant of the Phone (3a) created through the company’s global Community Edition Project. This initiative allows fans and creators to contribute directly to the development of real product elements spanning hardware, software, accessories, and marketing. The company reveals that it received over 700 entries and selected four winning concepts that have been transformed into the final device and its campaign.

The winning hardware concept by Emre Kayganacl is rooted in late ’90s and early 2000s tech nostalgia. According to Nothing, the packaging and rear-panel design channel the playful feel of handheld gaming devices from that era while maintaining the futuristic design language of the Phone (3a).
The new colour finish also sets it apart from the standard Blue, White, and Black options.

For the new 2025 accessory category, the winning idea called Dice comes from designers Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymonod (Reveland). The cube-shaped accessory draws inspiration from more than 5,000 years of dice symbolism and features numbering in Nothing’s Ndot 55 font.

In the software category, designer Jad Zock created a custom lock-screen clock that uses multiple font weights to minimise visual clutter and guide the eye more naturally. Jad also designed the exclusive wallpapers bundled with the Phone (3a) Community Edition. These wallpapers arrive in two blue and two purple versions, connecting the phone’s rear colour and texture to the UI and incorporating subtle easter eggs.
Meanwhile, the marketing campaign titled “Made Together” was developed by Sushruta Sarkar.
The Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition is priced at Rs. 28,999 in India for the single model featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Only 1,000 units will be produced globally as part of this limited release.
Indian customers will be able to purchase the device at a special drop event in Bengaluru on December 13.

Apart from the unique design, the Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition carries the same specifications as the standard Phone (3a). It features a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3000 nits peak brightness. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, paired with Android 15 and Nothing OS 3.1. The company promises three Android OS updates and six years of security patches. While not class-leading in performance, the phone comfortably handles daily tasks.
The device includes the Essential Key beneath the power button, which opens Essential Space, an AI-driven space for quick note-taking and idea capture. Camera hardware includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 2x telephoto camera with a 25cm telemacro mode. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera.
A 5,000mAh battery with 50W PD fast charging keeps the phone powered throughout the day.
