Nothing made headlines in 2025 with the launch of its first full-fledged flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3). The device introduced new elements such as the Glyph Matrix and carried a starting price of INR 79,999. However, those waiting for the brand’s next flagship will need to be patient. Nothing has now officially confirmed that the Phone (4) will not arrive this year.
Clarity around Nothing’s smartphone roadmap comes from a video published on the company’s official YouTube channel titled “Phone (4a): A New Chapter”. In the video, Nothing CEO and Founder Carl Pei clearly states that there will be no new flagship launch this year.
He says, “The first thing is there’s no new flagship this year. Phone 3 is our flagship for 2026.”
Pei explains that Nothing does not want to follow an annual flagship refresh cycle just for the sake of it. Instead, the company aims to ensure that every major product release represents a meaningful upgrade.
Elaborating on this approach, Pei says, “We want every upgrade to feel significant. So that’s a strategy we’ve had since the beginning.” He further adds, “And just because the rest of the industry does things a certain way, doesn’t mean we’re going to do it the same way. If it were that case, why do we start this company to begin with?”

During the discussion, Pei also sheds light on Nothing’s software direction and the company’s ongoing work on “Essential Apps”. These are described as tools that let everyday users create custom widgets and apps based on their personal needs and preferences.
With the flagship conversation settled, attention shifts to Nothing’s upcoming mid-range lineup. Pei confirms that the company is actively developing the Phone (4a) series with a launch expected in the near future.
According to Pei, the Phone (4a) lineup will bring noticeable improvements over the previous generation. Upgrades are expected in areas such as the display, camera, and overall performance. He also highlights the use of more premium materials, fresh colour experimentation, and confirms that the devices will feature UFS 3.1 storage.
Talking about the upcoming series, he says, “So, with the 4A series, that’s what we’ve done. We can expect premium materials, uh, build new experimentation in terms of color, and, uh, the overall look and feel is going to be quite interesting.”
As of now, Nothing has not revealed how many smartphones will be part of the Phone (4a) series. For reference, the Phone (3a) lineup included three models – the Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Lite. More details are expected to emerge as the launch timeline gets closer.
