Netflix Tudum 2022 Announces Brand New TV Shows; Quality Content on the Rise

In terms of churning out topnotch content for the audience, Netflix India and Amazon Prime are the top two over-the-top (OTT) platforms in the country that have given us some of the best web-series over the past few years like Sacred Games, The Family Man, Mirzapur, among others.

It was Sacred Games that ushered in the OTT revolution in India and took the whole nation by storm with its innovative storyline, acting performances, background score, direction, production value, among others.

Netflix is the platform that many give credit for shooting an acting wizard like Nawazuddin Siddiqui into the celluloid stratosphere although he had become a name to reckon with through Gangs of Wasseypur 1 & 2.

Brief Summary

Sacred Games was Netflix’s first original series based on the novel of the same name by noted Writer/News Anchor Vikram Chandra that proved to be one of the biggest hit television shows on Netflix, eventually finding a place in The New York Times’ ‘The 30 Best International TV Shows of the Decade’ list.

The first season, consisting of 8 episodes, was released in 2018 in more than 189 countries in over 20 languages. Netflix, through this series, showed the entire world that Indian Cinema was way more than silly musicals with dance numbers and hyperactive melodrama that prompted the whole world to see Indian content in a whole new light.

Now we are in 2022 and Netflix is having booming business in terms of OTT content from India, which has finally provided a platform for great actors that was unable to get good roles in a film industry obsessed with the star system and a big chunk of credit goes to Netflix for the same.

Netflix Tudum 2022 was the second ever global fan event held by the global platform for its loyal fans so as to provide them with a first-hand glimpse of all their upcoming OTT projects throughout the world, including India, which is undoubtedly its biggest market in current times.

Tudum 2022 is one such event where Netflix wants to make the whole world familiar with its oncoming projects that they can look forward to alongside the teasers and trailers of their forthcoming releases on the platform, which includes Guns & Gulaabs, Kathal, Soup, among others.

International Projects

Apart from Indian projects, Netflix has a slew of International TV Shows lined up for the coming months, including new seasons of previous successful shows that we are going to discuss about.

  • Squid Game Season 2: It is a known fact that Squid Game was quite successful during its release, which prompted to come up with the sequel and its development is currently underway as Hwang Dong-Hyuk, director and creator of the original series is working on the script so that viewers won’t have anything to complain about.
  • Witcher Season 3: This is one that will most probably see a summer 2023 release as Geralt of Rivia, a firm favourite character of many an individual, is all set to come back for the new season after a year and a half along with Ciri, Yennefer, both of whom are played by Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, respectively, while Henry Cavill is essaying Geralt.

All three stars graced the Tudum event where they announced the reveal timeline along with some artwork from Season 3. While the first season involved killing demons, the new season is speculated to be something different.

  • The Crown Season 5: The Crown, after a successful run for four season, is all set to make a comeback with the fifth on November 9, 2022, which is quite soon after the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II and will have some new characters and story arc that will definitely be appealing to its fans.
  • The Watcher: This TV series involves the Braddock Family that will move into their new home in a quiet neighbourhood but will find danger lurking at every step as they witness a shocking truth in and about the neighbourhood they’ve just come to.
  • Wednesday: This one is going to be a TV show based on the famous Addams Family and revolve around Wednesday Addams, daughter of Gomez and Morticia “Tish” Addams, and sister of Pugsley Addams. The first season will be out on November 23, 2022, and will involve Wednesday at Nevermore Academy, which is a spooky boarding school with many magical elements.

Conclusion

These are few of the shows that you can look forward to on Netflix as it is going to be a busy schedule for the global platform with a lot of expectations riding upon it that can go either ways.
