Motorola might have a surprise in store for its fans. While everyone’s been focused on the upcoming Moto G86, a new leak hints that a more powerful Moto G96 is also on the way. Moreover, it could end up being the top-tier model in the Moto G lineup. Here’s what we know so far.

Moto G96 Mentioned

After launching the Edge 60 and Razr 60 series, Motorola is now shifting its attention back to its budget-friendly Moto G series. The Moto G86 was already generating buzz, with its leaked design pointing to a June 2025 launch.

But now, tipster @evleaks on X (formerly Twitter) has revealed that the Moto G96 is also in development, and it’s expected to sit above the G86 in the lineup.

So far, nothing is known about the G96’s specs or design. There’s speculation that it could pack something like the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, similar to the Edge 60. The Moto G86 is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen and a 50MP main camera, so the G96 may offer even better hardware.

Unfortunately, don’t expect it to launch in the U.S. since Motorola hasn’t released a Moto G series device there since the G100 back in 2021.

As a quick recap, the Moto G85 comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ P-OLED display, curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a 50MP + 8MP dual camera setup, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor and a 5000mAh battery with 30W charging.

It’s still unclear when the G96 will launch, but it could arrive in late 2025 or early 2026. Some rumours suggest it might compete directly with the Poco X7, which is currently priced at ₹19,499 on Amazon. There’s plenty of speculation that it could feature a 200MP camera or 100W fast charging. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, full specs for another Moto G series phone have also leaked online. Thanks again to @evleaks on X, the Moto G56 5G is fully out in the open.

According to the leak, the Moto G56 will feature a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits of peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs Android 15 and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chip with an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU.

The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 main sensor with PDAF and Quad Pixel tech, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 32MP front camera. The phone is backed by a 5200mAh battery and supports 33W TurboPower fast charging.

Audio features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and two microphones. Connectivity options cover a wide range of 5G and 4G bands, plus Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. It will support single, dual and hybrid dual SIM setups.

Security and sensors are well covered with a fingerprint reader, face unlock, ThinkShield protection and standard sensors like proximity, ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and e-compass.

The phone measures 165.75 x 76.26 x 8.35mm, weighs 200g and has an IP68/IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. It also meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards. As for colour options, it will arrive in choices such as Pantone Black Oyster, Pantone Gray Mist, Pantone Dazzling Blue and Pantone Oil Blue.
