MediaTek has finally introduced its Helio G100 chipset.
The official announcement came around eight days after the first phone using the chipset saw the light of the day.
Yes, we are talking about the Tecno Camon 30S Pro, which was just about a week ago.
According to the MediaTek product brief on their official website, the Helio G100 is pretty much the same as the Helio G99 in terms of CPU and GPU specs.
The main difference is the G100’s ability to support 200 MP main cameras.
Specifying the chip’s power efficiency, MediaTek mentions in the product brief, “The MediaTek Helio G100 is manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 6nm (N6) chip production process, which significantly enhances power efficiency. This innovation provides device makers with new opportunities to develop gaming smartphones with unprecedented battery life.”
The Helio G100 features an octa-core CPU with two 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
It uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, with a maximum display resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels.
The product also mentions, “MediaTek’s Intelligent Display Sync technology boosts power-efficiency by dynamically adjusting the refresh rate, activating higher speeds only when necessary, resulting in power efficiency improvements up to 20%.”
The Helio G99 has been a popular choice for mid-range phones in LTE markets due to its lower price compared to similar-performing Dimensity chipsets.
As camera technology has advanced since 2022, the Helio G100 now supports 200 MP single cameras.
It also supports 16 + 16 MP dual shooting and 32 MP video capture at 30 fps, which were already available on the G99.
Additionally, the new chip includes a feature called “Elevator Mode,” which quickly restores cellular connection when emerging from areas without coverage, like tunnels or elevators.
It supports dual 4G SIMs with VoLTE and ViLTE.
MediaTek is already supplying the Helio G100 to customers, so we can expect to see more phones with this chipset in the near future.
