If you’re an Android enthusiast, circle May 7th on your calendar.
That’s when MediaTek is expected to unveil its latest flagship mobile processor – the Dimensity 9300+ – at the company’s annual Dimensity Developer Conference in China.
Let’s rewind a bit first.
The standard Dimensity 9300 that arrived last year was already an impressively beefy piece of silicon.
Packing a cluster of four powerful Arm Cortex-X4 CPU cores complemented by four Cortex-A720s, it delivered top-tier performance on benchmarks like Geekbench.
Early leaked scores for the 9300+ suggest MediaTek has entirely taken things to another level.
According to bits of info floating around the web, the Dimensity 9300+ is shaping up to be an out-and-out performance monster.
Rumored Geekbench results show eye-watering scores of 2229 in single-core and a whopping 7526 in multi-core testing.
To put those numbers in context, they absolutely crushed last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and could even give the latest Apple A16 Bionic a run for its money.
So what’s MediaTek’s secret sauce?
For starters, you can expect the 9300+ to double down on raw CPU power, likely via a combination of higher clock speeds and architectural optimisations.
But the bigger story may be on the AI and machine learning front – the theme of this year’s conference is “AI for Everything,” so we’re probably in for major AI processing enhancements.
Speaking of AI, there are already whispers that Vivo’s upcoming X100S flagship will be one of the first devices packing the Dimensity 9300+.
If the rumor mill is to be believed, the X100S will pair MediaTek’s new chip with an expansive 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display, blazing 120W fast charging, and an advanced multi-lens camera system.
A true premium showcase for the 9300+’s capabilities.
Of course, while vivo is tipped to lead the charge, you can bet major players like Xiaomi, OPPO, and others will be able to catch up in adopting MediaTek’s latest and greatest once it’s officially announced on May 7th.
After years of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon dominance, could the Dimensity 9300+ finally give Android’s biggest brands the flagship processing muscle to start closing the gap with Apple?
The Dimensity 9300+ is expected to offer significant performance enhancements over its predecessor, particularly in CPU speed and AI processing, making it a standout in high-end mobile processors.
Early benchmarks suggest that the Dimensity 9300+ could outperform last year’s leading processors, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and potentially rival the Apple A16 Bionic.
The vivo X100S is rumored to be among the first smartphones to incorporate the Dimensity 9300+, with other major brands like Xiaomi and OPPO expected to follow.
Set for May 7, the event will likely highlight the chip’s advanced AI capabilities under the theme “AI for Everything,” indicating broad applications beyond just smartphone performance.
This new chipset could provide Android device makers with the processing power to compete more closely with Apple, shifting the dynamics in high-end smartphone performance.
