With the new feature, users receive a personalised playlist inspired by their favourite tracks or songs they may want to play next. Spotify also curates recommendations under “More like your top artists/songs”, helping listeners explore new music that aligns with their taste.

In addition, the feature introduces weekly highlights that capture key moments in a listener’s music journey such as milestones, new artist discoveries, or unique fan experiences. Users can easily share these weekly stats through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and more.

Spotify described the feature in a blog post, saying, “This new feature shows your top artists and songs from the past four weeks, and it serves up playlists inspired by what you love or tracks you might want to queue up next. Each week, it also includes a special highlight that captures what makes your listening unique, whether it’s a milestone, a new discovery, or a fan moment.”

How to Access Spotify Listening Stats?

Here’s how you can use the new Listening Stats feature in Spotify –

  • Open the Spotify app on your smartphone or desktop.
  • Tap on your profile icon located at the top left corner.
  • You’ll now see the “Listening Stats” icon.

From there, you can view your listening history and share it internally with other Spotify users or externally via social media platforms.

Spotify ‘Listening Stats’ Different from Spotify Wrapped

While Spotify Wrapped gives users a year-end summary of their listening habits from January to October or November, the Listening Stats feature provides real-time, rolling updates every day. This makes it a more dynamic and continuous way to track listening behaviour throughout the year rather than waiting for the annual Wrapped release.

Spotify isn’t the only platform offering personalised listening insights. Apple Music introduced its Music Replay feature last year, which provides monthly breakdowns of users’ favourite songs, artists, albums, and genres. Similarly, YouTube Music has a Music Recap feature that summarises top songs, artists, videos, and listening patterns four times a year.

Q1. What is Spotify’s Listening Stats feature?

Answer. Listening Stats is a new feature that shows your top artists and songs from the past four weeks, updating daily to reflect your latest listening habits.

Q2. How is Listening Stats different from Spotify Wrapped?

Answer. Unlike Spotify Wrapped, which offers a year-end summary, Listening Stats provides real-time, rolling updates every 24 hours for continuous music insights.

Q3. How can I access my Listening Stats on Spotify?

Answer. Open the Spotify app, tap your profile icon at the top left, and select the “Listening Stats” icon to view and share your recent music trends.

Microsoft Forms MAI Superintelligence Team Under Mustafa Suleyman to Build ‘Humanist Superintelligence,’ Moves Beyond Relying On OpenAI

0

Highlights

  • Microsoft has formed a dedicated division led by Mustafa Suleyman to build “Humanist Superintelligence”.
  • Microsoft’s updated agreement with OpenAI lifts previous restrictions on AGI development and allows independent superintelligence research while retaining a 27% stake in OpenAI.
  • Suleyman emphasises a human-centered approach, rejecting the AI arms race narrative with a roadmap extending to 2032.

Microsoft has officially entered the race to develop superintelligent AI. The tech giant has announced the creation of a new division called the MAI Superintelligence Team, led by Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft’s AI division. The company says it no longer plans to wait for approval or restrictions to pursue this next phase of artificial intelligence development.

Microsoft’s MAI Superintelligence

According to reports, Microsoft’s new mission is to go far beyond achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), systems that can match human cognitive ability. Instead, the company will develop superintelligence or AI that can outperform humans in every domain including healthcare, clean energy, and materials science.

image

In a blog post, Suleyman explained that while AGI represents AI that can do anything a human can, superintelligence goes “far beyond that performance.” He described Microsoft’s approach as building “Humanist Superintelligence,” a system designed to serve humanity directly. Examples include advanced personal AI assistants, improved medical outcomes, and sustainable energy innovations.

Microsoft-OpenAI New Contract Lifts AI Restrictions

This new direction comes after Microsoft removed a key limitation in its partnership agreement with OpenAI. Previously, Microsoft was restricted from developing its own AGI and from training AI models beyond a set computing power threshold, measured in FLOPS (floating-point operations per second). FLOPS represent the number of mathematical calculations an AI model performs per second and serve as a rough measure of the total computing power used during training.

For a company of our scale, that’s a big limitation,” Suleyman told Fortune.

The updated contract now lifts these restrictions allowing Microsoft to develop its own AGI and superintelligent systems. It also grants Microsoft a 27% stake in OpenAI’s public-benefit company, signaling a shift from full collaboration to what now appears to be strategic competition between the two tech giants.

Microsoft’s previous agreement with OpenAI not only capped model sizes but also prohibited it from building beyond a certain computational limit. The arrangement that effectively prevented independent AGI research. With the revised deal, those boundaries have been removed and opened the door for Microsoft to pursue more advanced models.

Microsoft’s Superintelligence Push – What We Know So Far

Caption – Microsoft Forms MAI Superintelligence Team Under Mustafa Suleyman. (Photo by Steve Johnson on Unsplash)

Suleyman, 41, joined Microsoft in March 2024 after co-founding Inflection AI, whose technology and intellectual property Microsoft acquired. He previously co-founded Google DeepMind and has since reorganized internal Microsoft AI teams, integrating key staff into the new group and launching what he called an internal “AI self-sufficiency effort” to make Microsoft less dependent on outside partners.

He has also recruited top researchers from Google, DeepMind, Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic to strengthen the company’s AI division.

Microsoft is simultaneously working to extend its OpenAI partnership through 2030 to maintain early access to OpenAI’s most advanced models and intellectual property, even as it builds independence through its own superintelligence program.

Karén Simonyan, who joined Microsoft alongside Suleyman from Inflection AI, will serve as the chief scientist of the new Humanist Superintelligence team.

Suleyman has also told employees that Microsoft plans to invest heavily in its AI infrastructure. While its current AI models remain smaller than those of OpenAI or Google, the company’s long-term roadmap extends to 2032. It is the year its licensing rights to OpenAI’s models are set to expire.

Trend Toward “Superintelligence” Branding

Microsoft’s new initiative aligns with similar efforts across the AI industry. It basically joins a growing list of tech giants rebranding their AI programs around superintelligence.

Former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever recently launched Safe Superintelligence, a startup focused on building and controlling superintelligent AI. Meanwhile, Anthropic continues research into the safe development of advanced AI systems.

In June 2025, Meta renamed its AI division Meta Superintelligence Labs, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has claimed that his company is already moving beyond AGI toward superintelligence.

However, Microsoft has taken a distinct philosophical approach. Suleyman emphasised that his team rejects the idea of an AI arms race, writing, “We reject narratives about a race to AGI, and instead see it as part of a wider and deeply human endeavor to improve our lives and future prospects. We also reject binaries of boom and doom; we’re in this for the long haul to deliver tangible, specific, safe benefits for billions of people. We feel a deep responsibility to get this right.”

Despite its focus on ethics and safety, Suleyman said Microsoft will still innovate rapidly. He acknowledged that building a “humanist” superintelligence requires caution with capabilities that aren’t ready for widespread deployment, but insisted that this won’t slow the company’s pace of progress.

Interestingly, a noteworthy promise in Suleyman’s essay is that “everyone who wants one will have a perfect and cheap AI companion helping you learn, act, be productive and feel supported.”

As of now, the concept of superintelligence remains theoretical with no existing system close to achieving it. Having said that, Microsoft’s new team represents one of the most significant corporate pushes yet toward that goal. This evident race could very well shape the next decade of AI innovation.

FAQs

Q1. What is Microsoft’s MAI Superintelligence Team?

Answer. Microsoft has launched the MAI Superintelligence Team under AI chief Mustafa Suleyman to build “Humanist Superintelligence,” AI that surpasses human capabilities across domains like healthcare, energy, and science.

Q2. How has Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI changed?

Answer. Microsoft’s updated contract with OpenAI lifts previous restrictions on AGI development and computing power, allowing Microsoft to build its own superintelligent systems while retaining a 27% stake in OpenAI’s public-benefit company.

Q3. What makes Microsoft’s superintelligence approach different?

Answer. Led by Suleyman, Microsoft emphasizes a human-centered philosophy, rejecting the AI arms race and focusing on safe, long-term benefits for billions through ethical innovation.

  • GTA VI will feature dual protagonists, Lucia and Jason inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, set in Leonida and modern-day Vice City.
  • Despite delays, GTA V remains a top-seller with over 220 million units sold, strong GTA Online engagement, and growing GTA+ membership revenue.

Rockstar Games has once again delayed the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing its release date to November 19, 2026. This marks another setback for the title, which was initially expected to arrive in late 2025 before being postponed to May 2026. The first official trailer for GTA VI was unveiled in December 2023, sparking massive global excitement among fans.

GTA 6 Delayed Again

In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar revealed the updated launch timeline.

The company wrote, “Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve. We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.

The studio initially aimed for a Fall 2025 release window before pushing it to May 2026 earlier this year. Now, with the latest delay, GTA VI is expected to arrive in November 2026. Rockstar explained that the additional time will help the development team deliver the high-quality experience fans have come to expect from the franchise.

During a recent earnings call, Rockstar’s parent company  Take-Two Interactive shared its latest financial results. Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick noted that Grand Theft Auto V continues to see growth with the game having sold over 220 million units globally. He also mentioned that player engagement in Grand Theft Auto Online remains strong, boosted by holiday-themed events, new vehicles, community activities, and outfits, while the GTA+ membership program saw over 20% year-over-year growth.

“Consumers’ ongoing passion and engagement with the franchise, which we believe will help usher in a record-breaking launch for Grand Theft Auto VI,Zelnick added.

GTA 6 – What to Expect?

Following in the footsteps of GTA V, the upcoming instalment will feature multiple protagonists with Lucia and Jason taking centre stage. According to the trailer, the duo draws inspiration from infamous American criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.

A year before the official trailer dropped, over 90 early gameplay videos were leaked online, showing glimpses of the game in development. Although the massive leak fueled speculation about further delays, Rockstar initially maintained its 2025 launch target.

Despite the repeated postponements, Grand Theft Auto remains one of the best-selling AAA franchises in gaming history. GTA V’s online mode continues to be a major revenue source for Rockstar, thanks to its microtransaction model, which has generated billions since launch.

Apple Developing iPhone Air 2 with Dual 48MP Cameras, Claims Leaker

0

Highlights

  • Apple is reportedly developing the iPhone Air 2 with a dual rear 48MP Fusion Main + 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera setup.
  • Apple may need to rework the internal structure, especially around battery placement, to accommodate the second lens.
  • The iPhone Air 2 is expected to debut in the second half of 2026 alongside other iPhone 18 models.

Apple’s latest iPhone 17 series is still new to the market, but early leaks are already offering insights into what’s coming next. Reports suggest that Apple is finalising plans for its 2026 lineup including the successor to the iPhone Air. It is the model in the current lineup that has reportedly struggled to meet sales expectations. But despite the lukewarm response, Apple appears determined to refine the series and the rumoured iPhone Air 2 could bring the upgrade fans have long wanted.

iPhone Air 2 Could Have 2 Cameras?

Concept image of iPhone Air 2. (Image credit - DCS on Weibo)
– Concept image of iPhone Air 2. (Image credit – DCS on Weibo)

According to a new leak from the popular Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Apple’s second-generation iPhone Air is currently in development and may come equipped with two rear cameras instead of one. The leak claims Apple is testing a dual-lens configuration similar to the base iPhone 17, combining a 48MP Fusion Main camera with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide sensor.

Interestingly, the report suggests Apple will retain the iPhone Air’s unique horizontal camera plateau, meaning the new dual-camera setup will sit side by side, unlike the vertical layout seen on the iPhone 17.

Sharing more details, Digital Chat Station wrote, “The iPhone 18 Air is currently at the usual stage of development [for a model to be launched next year]. The 6.5-inch high-brush mid-screen 3D face horizontal runway design remains unchanged. It is also an ultra-thin design. Apple is considering adding a lens to supplement the 48MP main camera with a 48MP ultra-wide one.” (Translated via Google Translate)

Given that the current iPhone Air houses multiple internal components in its raised camera plateau to optimise space for the battery, Apple would likely need to redesign parts of the internal structure to accommodate the second lens. Still, the company reportedly aims to keep the iPhone Air 2 exceptionally thin and lightweight.

Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already predicted that Apple will launch the iPhone Air 2 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026. The company is also said to be preparing a third iPhone Air variant with a larger display, expected to arrive in late 2027. However, considering that the first-generation iPhone Air hasn’t performed strongly outside of China, these plans may still evolve.

As for how much we can believe this update, Digital Chat Station has built a solid reputation for accurate Apple leaks in the past. The tipster has leaked early details about the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus camera sensors, as well as the display design of the iPhone 12 back in 2020.

In any case, if the latest reports hold true, the iPhone Air 2 could finally deliver the camera upgrade many tech enthusiasts were looking for.

FAQs

Q1. What camera setup is expected on the iPhone Air 2?

Answer. The iPhone Air 2 may feature a dual rear camera system, combining a 48MP Fusion Main sensor with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide lens. This marks a significant upgrade from the single-camera setup on the first-generation iPhone Air.

Q2. Will the iPhone Air 2 retain its horizontal camera design?

Answer. Yes, Apple is expected to keep the iPhone Air’s unique horizontal camera plateau. The dual lenses will be arranged side by side, unlike the vertical layout seen on the iPhone 17.

Q3. When is the iPhone Air 2 expected to launch?

Answer. According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone Air 2 will likely debut in the second half of 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. A larger-screen variant may follow in 2027.

With this, users can ask real-time questions while driving such as finding EV charging stations, checking for restaurants along the route, or sharing their ETA with friends. All without needing to touch their phone.

Gemini’s advanced reasoning also supports multi-step questions, allowing users to ask, for instance, “Is there a budget-friendly restaurant with vegan options along my route, something within a couple of miles? What’s parking like there?” Beyond navigation, users can even permit Maps to create a Calendar event for their plans.

Proactive Local Tips and AI-Based Place Insights

Google is also launching Proactive Local Tips, another Gemini-backed feature that provides real-time recommendations about local attractions, shops, or restaurants along the user’s route. This expands on the AI-powered Inspirations feature introduced in 2024.

Additionally, Maps can now answer detailed questions about places using reviews, images, and business data helping users make decisions without switching apps. These AI-driven updates will be available on both Android and iOS in the coming days.

Proactive Traffic and Safety Alerts

Another major addition is Proactive Traffic Alerts, which notifies users about traffic jams, closures, and delays even when they’re not navigating. Initially, this feature will roll out to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai Android users within the next few weeks.

In terms of road safety, Accident-Prone Area Alerts will inform users when they enter zones known for frequent accidents. This feature, based on government data, will launch in Gurugram, Hyderabad’s Cyberabad region, Chandigarh, and Faridabad for both Android and iOS users.

Similarly, Authoritative Speed Limits also derived from official government sources will display the legal speed limit beside the speedometer. This will be available soon in Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, Jaipur, Faridabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

Google is also collaborating with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to integrate real-time data on road closures and repairs via NHAI’s API Setu, improving route accuracy and planning.

Metro Ticket Booking Within Maps

Another convenience-focused addition allows users to book metro tickets directly from Google Maps, eliminating the need to switch between apps. The service currently covers Delhi, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Chennai, with Mumbai next in line. Purchased tickets can also be saved in Google Wallet and accessed directly within Maps.

Flyover Voice Navigation and Two-Wheeler Avatars

The Flyover navigation feature, which helps drivers know when to take or skip a flyover, now includes voice guidance support to enhance safety during high-speed or congested travel. This voice navigation will be available in nine Indian languages for Android and iOS soon.

Rounding off the update, Google is launching customisable two-wheeler avatars for riders in India. This India-exclusive feature lets users choose from multiple bike icons and personalise them with different colours. It will roll out to Android users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new ‘Strict Account Settings’ feature that aims to protect users from targeted cyberattacks. The upcoming security mode will introduce a lockdown-style setup, giving users tighter control over their privacy and communication on the platform. The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (v2.25.33.4). Here’s what we know about the feature based on the report.

What is WhatsApp’s ‘Strict Account Settings’ Mode?

According to the feature tracker WABetaInfo, the Strict Account Settings mode will allow users to enable advanced privacy protections with a single toggle. It’s designed for individuals who may be more vulnerable to cyber threats, making it easier to apply multiple security measures at once without manually adjusting each setting. Although still under development, the discovery indicates that WhatsApp plans to roll it out in a future Android update.

When activated, the new mode will automatically enable several enhanced safety features. One major addition is IP address protection during calls. WhatsApp will route voice and video calls through its own servers, preventing attackers from tracking users via IP-based location data.

The feature will also block media files and attachments from unknown contacts. This will stop automatic downloads of suspicious photos, videos, or documents that could contain malware or phishing links. Conversations with unfamiliar accounts will be limited to text-only messages, reducing exposure to potential threats.

Added Privacy and Anti-Spam Controls

WhatsApp is also expected to include an option to disable link previews within chats. Since link previews typically require the app to connect to the linked site, disabling this feature will prevent unintended IP address leaks. Although already available under privacy settings, this control will now be automatically enabled as part of the new strict mode.

In addition, calls from unsaved numbers may be muted automatically to reduce spam and scam attempts including so-called “zero-click” attacks. The mode is also expected to restrict who can add users to group chats, limiting it to saved contacts only. Personal profile details like profile photo, status, and last seen timestamps will likely be visible only to contacts, ensuring greater privacy.

To further safeguard accounts, two-step verification will be turned on by default under this mode, adding a PIN-based security layer to prevent unauthorised access or identity theft. The system will also send security alerts whenever a contact’s encryption code changes, allowing users to confirm the authenticity of their chats.

FAQs

Q1. What is WhatsApp’s ‘Strict Account Settings’ mode?

Answer. It’s a new security feature under development that enables multiple privacy protections with a single toggle, designed to safeguard users from cyber threats.

Q2. What protections does WhatsApp’s ‘Strict Account Settings’ mode offer?

Answer. It includes IP address masking during calls, blocks media from unknown contacts, disables link previews, and restricts group additions to saved contacts only.

Q3. Will two-step verification be enabled in WhatsApp’s ‘Strict Account Settings’?

Answer. Yes, two-step verification will be turned on by default, adding a PIN-based layer of security to prevent unauthorised access.
