The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for implementing SMS traceability guidelines from November 30 to December 10.

With effect from 11th December 2024, any traffic (messages) where the chain of Telemarketers is not defined or does not match with the pre-defined chain shall be rejected.

PEs and TMs are again advised to expedite the declaration of chains on priority as any message that fails to adhere to the traceability regulation will be rejected with effect from 11th of December 2024,” TRAI stated.

The updated system needs telemarketers to define the chain of Principal Entity (PE) and Telemarketer (TM) chain.

This will enable the telecom operators to trace the origin of messages and telemarketers sending messages without compliance will be blocked.

This initiative aims to curb spam and make it easier to identify defaulters behind unsolicited communications.

TRAI announcement comes after a review of the progress of PE-TM chain declarations and considering requests from telecom operators.

The deadline was previously pushed from November 1 to November 30.

Telecom operators have expressed concerns stating that while they are technically ready, it might be difficult for PEs and TMs might be to register their chains on the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platform. This would disrupt the delivery of critical messages.

However, TRAI noted that “more than 27,000 PEs have already registered their chains with the respective Access Providers and further registration is in progress at a rapid pace.” It also reassured users that “the rules won’t cause any disruption in OTP messages.”

TRAI warned that starting December 11, any message where the PE-TM chain is undefined or mismatched will be rejected.

“Access Providers have sent and are continuing to send warning notices to all PEs and TMs who have not yet implemented necessary changes,” TRAI said in a release.

“PEs and TMs are again advised to expedite the declaration of chains on priority as any message that fails to adhere to the traceability regulation will be rejected with effect from 11th of December 2024,” it added.

It also said, “All the Principal Entities (PE) and Telemarketers (TM) shall complete the PE-TM chain binding at the earliest to avoid disruption in the transmission of messages.”

Telecom operators are submitting daily progress reports with message details that meet or fail the traceability requirements to ensure compliance.

TRAI remains firm on its directive to implement the system prioritising spam reduction while maintaining the smooth flow of essential communications.

Samsung has largely kept the fans and tech community in suspense about the Android 15-based One UI 7, until now.  It seems details about the new One UI 7 have finally started surfacing from official sources. Here’s everything we know.

According to leaker Chunvn8888 on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung’s Spanish website has officially revealed some exciting features for the upcoming update. The highlight of One UI 7 is its heavy integration of AI, with Samsung promising that “AI powers every step” and introducing a “sophisticated new look.”

As per reports, the key updates include redesigned icons, a smart notification centre and a refreshed lock screen that displays ongoing activities at a glance.

Here’s a closer look at some standout features –

New Icons

Sketch to Image

Already available on recent Galaxy devices, this feature is now expanded in One UI 7. You can transform sketches into images using options like 3D Cartoon, Sketch, and Watercolor. Note that this requires a network connection and Samsung Account login along with results in resized images (up to 12MP) with a visible AI watermark.

Portrait Studio

A new way to enhance portraits, this tool uses AI to create artistic profile photos with themes like Comics, 3D Cartoons and Sketches. Similar to Sketch to Image, this also produces images up to 9MP with a watermark.

Live Effects

Realme GT 8 Pro Can Get Massive 8000mAh Battery Upgrade

0

Highlights

  • Realme GT 8 Pro might offer a massive battery upgrade.
  • Research going on in configurations: 8,000mAh with 80W charging, 7,500mAh with 100W charging, and 7,000mAh with 120W charging.
  • The larger battery capacities are driven by silicon-carbon anode battery technology.

It’s just been a few days since the Realme GT 7 Pro saw a wider launch and we are already getting reports on the next upgrade of the line.

In November, Realme launched the GT 7 Pro in China with its slim 8.55mm body and a massive 6,500mAh battery.

While these upgrades might impress many tech enthusiasts and reviewers, it appears folks at Realme are not satisfied.

The massive 6500mAh battery in GT 7 Pro was made possible by the brand’s use of silicon-carbon anode battery technology, which combines silicon and carbon to create high-energy-density, long-lasting batteries.

Realme now seems to be too eager to push the battery capacity limits to even further with its next rumoured flagship the GT 8 Pro.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the brand is considering three battery configurations each offering impressive capacity but with trade-offs in charging speed.

image
Digital Chat Station’s recent post on Weibo.

DCS share below possibilities –

8,000mAh Battery + 80W Charging: The largest option focuses on exceptional endurance but sacrifices speed. It could take up to 70 minutes to fully charge.

7,500mAh Battery + 100W Charging: This strikes a balance between battery size and speed, with estimated charging times of around 55 minutes.

7,000mAh Battery + 120W Charging: The smallest of the three options still has a bigger than usual battery life while maintaining fast charging. Full charges could take just 42 minutes.

While these configurations are based on leaks and may change, they hint at Realme’s ambitious plans for long-lasting, high-performance smartphones.

These configurations when paired with flagship processors like the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor can turn the GT 8 Pro potentially into a device with multi-day battery life.

It is still soon to expect any official word on this development. However, we can expect more updates to emerge. If the leaks turn out to be true, Realme’s next flagship could redefine battery performance in smartphones.

FAQs

Q1. What battery configurations are being considered for the Realme GT 8 Pro?

Answer. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the brand is considering three battery configurations: 8,000mAh + 80W charging, 7,500mAh + 100W charging and 7,000mAh + 120W charging.

Q2. What technology is Realme using for the GT 8 Pro’s batteries?

Answer. The massive 6500mAh battery in GT 7 Pro was made possible by the brand’s use of silicon-carbon anode battery technology, which combines silicon and carbon to create high-energy-density, long-lasting batteries.

Q3. What upgrade can Realme GT 8 Pro potentially have?

Answer. Paired with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the GT 8 Pro could potentially deliver multi-day battery life, a feature that would truly stand out in the flagship market.

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Design and Portability

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Design and Portability

The first thing we noticed about the new U&i power bank is its sleek and compact design. The power bank perfectly fits in the palm of your hand. You can easily carry it in a small bag or even in your pocket.

Moreover, it is quite lightweight, which means you won’t feel any weight when you are on the move with it.

The build quality is solid too.

The unit we had for this review was in purple colour, which is quite eye-catching. If such a colour doesn’t suit your aesthetic, the power bank is also available in silver and grey colour variants.

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Battery Capacity

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Battery Capacity

The 10000mAh battery capacity of U&i UiPB 2151 is low compared to many power banks available in the market. The device also seems to be overpriced for the capacity it offers. We felt it is more suited for topping up your devices rather than providing full charges.

For users who rely heavily on their gadgets, this might not be enough for a full day without access to a wall charger.

However, it serves its purpose well if you are a light to moderate user.

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Fast Charging Performance

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Fast Charging Performance

We felt the biggest highlight of this power bank is its PD + QC 22.5W output. It delivers ultra-fast charging for compatible devices.

This feature ensures your gadgets are ready to go in minimum time whether you’re in a hurry to top up your smartphone or power up a tablet.

The fast charging capabilities are particularly useful for heavy users who depend on their devices throughout the day. You can confidently rely on it to give your phone a significant boost in just a few minutes.

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Wireless Charging

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Wireless Charging

The 22.5W Magsafe wireless charging feature is another useful addition. This feature allows you to simply place your device on the power bank for a quick and cable-free charge.

It’s ideal for times when you don’t want to deal with tangled wires or when you’re multitasking.

However, the wireless charging isn’t as fast as the wired PD output.

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Port Versatility

U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank – Port Versatility

The UiPB-2151 model comes with a USB output and a Type-C port that supports both input and output. You can use the power bank with a wide range of devices and even recharge it with the same Type-C cable you use for your gadgets.

This makes the UiPB-2151 a practical choice for anyone with multiple devices as you will not have to carry multiple chargers or adapters.

Verdict – Should You Buy U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank?

Verdict – Should You Buy U&i UiPB 2151 10000mAh Power Bank?

The U&i UiPB-2151 Power Bank is an excellent choice for users seeking a compact and efficient charging solution. Its combination of fast charging, wireless functionality and port versatility makes it a good choice in this category.

The smaller capacity may limit its usage and we also wish there was a cable inside the box. However, it is still perfect for quick power top-ups.

If you prioritise convenience and portability, the UiPB-2151 is a solid option to consider.

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Design and Build Quality

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Design and Build Quality
  • Kickstand
  • Magnetic travel keyboard
  • Magnetic pen

First of all, the Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable is more tablet than a computer. However, this in no way means that it is any less of a computer.

This 13-inch tablet comes with a detachable magnetic keyboard cover along with a magnetic stylus pen hidden in the keyboard garage.

The tablet has a compact and lightweight design, which makes it a perfect product for professionals who are always on the move.

The tablet has a kickstand that is not only useful but is very aesthetically designed to complement the overall design.

The hinge is strong. However, we did feel the magnetic hold of the keyboard should have been a lot stronger. It easily comes off the tablet, which can cause issues when you are on the move.

The build quality is solid and Dell has paid special attention to sustainability.

The back of the tablet is made up of 90 per cent recycled magnesium and the kickstand is made out of 75 per cent recycled aluminium.

As for the ports, there’s much to explore since it looks like Dell wants to keep true to the tablet design philosophy.

It comes with a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support on either side. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a great addition.

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Display

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Display
  • 13-inch 3K 2880×1920 IPS Touch
  • AR, AS Support
  • Gorilla® Glass Victus®
  • Low Blue Light Support

The display of a Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable is a 13-inch 3K panel with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels.

This IPS panel with a glossy finish appears beautiful and vibrant offering sharp visuals.

The 60Hz refresh rate might make a few tasks slugging but we didn’t notice any slags as we used it for everyday work.

The colours appear bright with close to 76 per cent sRGB colour gamut coverage. The display is absolutely suitable for outdoors with its 500nits brightness.

However, it might not be very clear when under sunlight but still will be workable.

The display also comes with low blue light, anti-reflective and anti-smudge features. Apart from this, it also has HDR support as well.

While the display may not look extraordinary on the specification sheet, it does its job pretty well.

Considering the device is developed for professionals, it packs enough to ensure it supports all types of tasks optimally.

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Performance

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Performance

The Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable unit that we had for the review came with a more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 164U processor.

It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 512GB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD.

We tested the device on some benchmarks and it scored well in most. Here are some benchmark results:

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Battery Life

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable – Battery Life

It clocks good battery life with its 46.5-watt-hour battery. We were able to get almost 10 hours of battery life with average use and about 7-8 hours with heavy streaming.

The Detachable 7350 comes with Dell Optimizer, which offers different settings to optimise the system and prioritise applications based on requirements.

It helps in adjusting the power that can extend battery life.

Users can always use different settings to optimise the battery such as using various audio features like removing background noise or 3D audio.

There is also a presence detection feature, which locks your tablet whenever the user moves away.

It also detects and unlocks the system whenever the user is back in the front using Windows Hello.

Moreover, it comes with a feature that detects onlookers and dims the screen to save power.

Verdict – Should You Buy Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable?

Verdict – Should You Buy Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable?

Dell Latitude 7350 Detachable at first glance appears to be that perfect device that has a lot to offer. It’s sleek and premium appears definitely works in its favour.

The excellent form factor makes it a useful machine for any professional.

It comes with a great display that supports all types of tasks optimally.

The battery life is also great.

So, what’s the downside? Well, price is one of the biggest points of consideration here. There are also some limitations in case someone is looking for a laptop.

While this is a 2-in-1 detachable device, you have to keep in mind that it is a tablet first.

This cannot replace a 13-inch laptop even though it won’t fall short in performance.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has surprised many by praising Apple’s latest holiday advertisement promoting the new Hearing Aid feature of the AirPods Pro 2. Mush is known for his usual clashes with Apple including a past threat to ban Apple devices at Tesla if OpenAI was integrated at the OS level. This makes Musk’s positive comment on Apple a rather unexpected shift.

Apple CEO Tim Cook shared the ad on X (formerly Twitter) expressing his pride in the innovation. “I’m so proud of the many teams across Apple developing powerful technologies that are improving people’s lives,” he wrote.

“The Hearing Aid feature on AirPods Pro 2 uses your personalised sound profile so you can hear the moments that matter,” he added.

Musk’s reaction was brief but impactful. He wrote, “This is cool” while quoting Cook’ss post. His comment quickly gained traction with over 4 million views and countless users agreeing with his sentiment.

The advertisement showcases a touching Christmas morning scene. It follows a father with hearing loss who struggles to hear his family’s joyful chatter.

The moment he puts on his AirPods Pro 2, the muffled sounds turn into crystal-clear voices allowing him to fully engage in the special moment with his wife and daughter.

The ad also sheds light on a significant issue. Millions of people suffer from untreated hearing loss often delaying help for years.

Apple’s new feature aims to bridge this gap by offering a quick, scientifically validated hearing test and a clinical-grade hearing aid experience directly through the AirPods Pro 2.

Viewers have been deeply moved by the ad. “I actually teared up. Very heartfelt,” commented one user.

Another wrote, “It’s amazing to see technology being used in such meaningful ways. Kudos to the team.”

India’s GDP Growth Slows to 5.4% in Q2 FY25, Raising Chances of RBI Rate Cuts

0

Highlights

  • India’s GDP growth slowed to 5.4% in the July-September quarter of FY25.
  • Key sectors saw mixed performance with manufacturing growing modestly.
  • Agricultural sector growth rose to a five-quarter high.
  • The weaker-than-expected growth has increased the likelihood of a policy rate cut by RBI.

India’s economic growth slowed significantly in the July-September quarter of FY25 while recording a seven-quarter low of 5.4%, well below analysts’ projections of around 6.5%.

The slowdown driven by weaker industrial performance and reduced investment demand has raised concerns about the overall economic trajectory.

Analysts suggest the current forecast of 7% growth for FY25 might need a revision if this trend continues.

This weaker-than-expected performance has also increased the likelihood of a policy rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India during its February Monetary Policy Committee meeting.

Key Highlights from the Report

  • Gross Value Added (GVA) grew at 5.6%, while net taxes on GDP growth fell to a seven-quarter low of 2.7%, according to data from the National Statistical Office (NSO).
  • Nominal GDP growth for the quarter was 8%, significantly lower than the previous year, raising concerns about its impact on the government’s tax revenues.
  • Manufacturing grew by a modest 2.2%, while the electricity sector expanded by 3.3%.
  • The labour-intensive construction sector slowed to 7.7%, down from 10.5% in the previous quarter.
  • Overall services growth eased slightly to 7.1% from 7.2% in the June quarter.
  • Trade, hotels, and transport services saw 6% growth, while financial and professional services slowed to 6.7%.
  • Public administration and defence recorded 9.2% growth, a dip from the previous quarter.
  • Agricultural growth stood out, rising to a five-quarter high of 3.5%, supported by robust kharif sowing.
  • Mining and quarrying contracted by – 0.1% due to unseasonal rains.
  • Private consumption growth slowed to 6%, despite a favourable base.
  • Government spending increased by 4.4%, recovering from a pre-election slump.
  • Investment demand growth, reflected in gross fixed capital formation (GFCF), fell to 5.4%, down from 7.5% in the June quarter.
  • Exports growth slowed to 2.8%, down from 8.7% in the June quarter.
  • Despite weaker exports, net exports supported GDP growth, as they were 40.5% lower than the same period last year

What Industry Expects Have To Say?

Experts suggest that elevated interest rates and fiscal consolidation could impact GDP growth this year, though rural demand may drive consumption in the coming months.

Chief Economist at CRISIL Dharmakirti Joshi said, “Rural demand is expected to drive improvement in consumption. The impact of healthy kharif production, coupled with gains from the festival season, is expected to increase demand in the second half. However, slowing credit growth is expected to weigh, particularly on urban demand.”

Similarly, Chief Economist at Bank of Baroda Madan Sabnavis noted, “Consumption is already recovering with festival rural spending and wedding season. The government will expedite budget spending and hence will be picking up. Investment shows positive signs as intentions higher than last year post July. We expect growth for the year to average 6.6-6.8 per cent in FY25.”

However, Chief Economist at India Ratings & Research Devendra Kumar Pant cautioned, “Both consumption and investment demand is still dependent on the government, with the government’s focus on fiscal consolidation, the growth outlook doesn’t appear to be very good.”

Here are some more opinions as shared in a recent ToI report.

Upasna Bhardwaj, Kotak Mahindra Bank – “The sharply lower-than-expected GDP figures reflect the highly disappointing corporate earnings data. The manufacturing sector appears to have taken the maximum beating.”

Harry Chambers, Capital Economics – “We expect growth to remain subdued over the next few quarters as household consumption moderates and investment growth eases in an environment of still-high interest rates.”

Aditi Nayar, ICRA – “In light of the recent spike in CPI inflation, we anticipate a status quo from the RBI’s monetary policy meeting next week. However, a February 2025 rate cut may be on the table if the next two inflation prints recede.”

Sakshi Gupta, HDFC Bank – “The softer economic growth stemmed from lower manufacturing, electricity and mining growth in the second quarter. On the demand side, consumption growth slowed probably due to a moderation in urban demand.”

Garima Kapoor, Elara Securities – “Amid sluggish consumption growth owing to moderating real income growth and the effect of concentrated and heavy rains, demand drivers remained weak in Q2 FY25.”

Radhika Rao, DBS Bank – “The outcome reflects a miss in domestic-oriented as well as external-driven segments. This quarter likely marks the bottom of the cycle and we count on a modest recovery in the second half as few of these constraints are expected to even out.”

Apple has been putting a lot of work into integrating essential and reliable health features into its Apple Watches. Health features have somewhat dominated the last few Apple launches and now it appears Apple plans on bringing some more innovation in this regard in future as well.

As per recent reports, Apple has patented a new technology that could bring blood pressure monitoring to the Apple Watch. This is a long-awaited feature by many health-focused Appl Watch users.

According to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple plans to use a method inspired by traditional blood pressure monitors moving away from reliance on optical sensors.

Apple has reportedly been working on blood pressure monitoring for several years. Previous rumours suggested that the technology might be ready for the Apple Watch Series 10, but no official timeline has been announced.

How Does The Technology Work?

The Apple patent describes a wearable device featuring a strap, pump, inflatable chamber and a liquid-filled sensing chamber. Other components include a vibration sensor and a pressure sensor to measure blood pressure parameters.

Here’s how the process works:

  • The inflatable chamber compresses the user’s wrist with the help of a pump.
  • The liquid-filled sensing chamber measures vibrations and pressure during inflation.
  • Once deflated, the device rechecks these parameters to ensure accuracy.

Reports suggest a flowchart in the patent details the sequence including how the chamber maintains inflation to verify the readings before deflating completely.

Apple claims the liquid-filled sensing chamber offers better accuracy and sensitivity compared to air-based methods, which makes it a reliable option for wearable blood pressure monitoring.

Apple Patent Design Insights

The diagrams in the patent show a design resembling the Apple Watch complete with the signature crown and side button. While the technology could theoretically be used in other wearables, the illustrations strongly suggest its integration with future Apple Watch models.

Meanwhile, Apple fans will need to wait for further announcements from the Cupertino giant.
