Apple Might Be Working On A New Sky Blue Colour Variant For iPhone 17 Pro

0

Highlights

  • Apple is reportedly testing a Sky Blue variant for the iPhone 17 Pro.
  • Leaker Majin Bu suggests it could be the standout colour for the September 2025 launch.
  • Sky Blue was recently introduced with the M4 MacBook Air, which makes it unusual for Apple to offer the same new colour for both Mac and iPhone in the same year.

There’s a new rumour making the rounds revealing that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro could come in a Sky Blue colour. While plenty of leaks have already revealed details about the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, colour options have mostly stayed under wraps until now.

Leaker Majin Bu has shared that Apple is testing out Sky Blue for the iPhone 17 Pro.

image

Caption – Representative image of Sky Blue colour on iPhone 17 Pro. (Image credit – Majin Bu)

On his website, he says, “Sources close to the supply chain confirm that several iPhone 17 Pro prototypes have been made in various colours, with Sky Blue currently the frontrunner. In prototypes, it reportedly looks even more stunning than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible. Unless Apple changes course at the last minute, this will be the star of the September 2025 launch event.”

Majin Bu has a decent track record when it comes to Apple leaks especially recently, though not all of his predictions have been spot-on.

What makes this even more interesting is that Sky Blue was just introduced with the M4 MacBook Air. It’s not very common for Apple to launch the same new colour on both Mac and iPhone in the same year. But if the colour has been a hit on the MacBook Air, it could be a smart move to bring that excitement to the iPhone lineup too.

Usually, Apple sticks to a few standard grey tones for its iPhone Pro models with just one special colour that changes each year. Last year, that was Desert Titanium and it appears this time, it could be Sky Blue stealing the show.

FAQs

Q1. Will the iPhone 17 Pro come in a Sky Blue colour?

Answer. Leaker Majin Bu has shared that Apple is testing out Sky Blue for the iPhone 17 Pro. Several prototypes have been made in various colours, with Sky Blue currently the frontrunner.

Q2. Has Apple ever launched the same new colour for both Mac and iPhone in the same year?

Answer. It’s not very common for Apple to do this, but since Sky Blue was just introduced with the M4 MacBook Air, it could be a smart move to bring that excitement to the iPhone lineup too.

Q3. What is Apple’s pattern for iPhone Pro model colours?

Answer. Apple typically sticks to a few standard grey tones for its iPhone Pro models, with just one special colour that changes each year. Last year, that was Desert Titanium. This time, it could be Sky Blue stealing the show.

New Gmail Scam Alert – That Email from “Google” Might Be a Scam, Here’s What to Know

0

Highlights

  • A new Gmail phishing scam uses emails from no-reply@google.com to trick users into verifying their account activity via fake links.
  • Scam emails mimic Google’s branding but often feature urgent language, grammatical errors and suspicious links.
  • Users should avoid clicking links, check Gmail directly for activity, report phishing emails and enable two-factor authentication for added security.

If you recently got an email from no-reply@google.com telling you to “verify your account activity” or risk your Gmail being deactivated, don’t click anything. A convincing Gmail phishing scam is making the rounds and it’s catching people off guard because it looks very real.

The scam was first flagged by X (formerly Twitter) user Nick Johnson, who posted, “Recently I was targeted by an extremely sophisticated phishing attack, and I want to highlight it here. It exploits a vulnerability in Google’s infrastructure.”

Why This Gmail Scam Feels So Real?

image

Caption – Gmail scam mail sender details. (Image credit – @nicksdjohnson on X)

The email is dressed up with official Google branding, a legit-looking logo and wording that sounds just like Google’s usual alerts. Johnson explained in a details X thread, “The first thing to note is that this is a valid, signed email — it really was sent from no-reply@google.com. It passes the DKIM signature check, and Gmail displays it without any warnings — it even puts it in the same conversation as other, legitimate security alerts.”

So yes, it looks totally legit. But it’s not.

The phishing message claims your Gmail account is under review because of suspicious activity. It urges you to click a “Review Activity” button to keep your account from being suspended in 24 hours. It’s all designed to create panic and get you to act fast, a common tactic in scams.

If you click the link, you’re taken to a fake website that looks exactly like the real Google login page. That’s where the trap is set. Once you type in your Gmail info, the scammers can steal –

  • Your email and password
  • Your recovery email and phone number
  • Even your two-factor authentication (2FA) codes

That gives them full control of your account. They can lock you out, steal your personal info, or use your email to target other people.

Johnson further said, “From there, presumably, they harvest your login credentials and use them to compromise your account; I haven’t gone further to check. So how did they do it – especially the valid email? This is due to two vulnerabilities in Google’s infra that they have declined to fix.”

Regarding reporting the issue to Google directly, Johnson wrote, “I’ve submitted a bug report to Google about this; unfortunately they closed it as ‘Working as Intended’ and explained that they don’t consider it a security bug. Obviously I disagree – but until they change their mind, be on the lookout for deceptive security alerts from Google.”

However, he also confirmed in a follow-up post that , “Google has reconsidered and will be fixing the oAuth bug!”

How To Spot the Red Flags Upon Receiving Such Emails?

Even though the sender shows up as “Google,” take a closer look. These scam emails often come from weird-looking addresses full of random characters. Also, watch out for:

  • Urgent language (“act within 24 hours!”)
  • Grammatical errors
  • Suspicious links that don’t go to Google’s real site

Meanwhile, Google also offers general tips for spotting phishing scams such as always checking the full email address, don’t click on links you don’t trust and never enter your password unless you’re 100% sure you’re on a secure, official site.

How to Stay Safe?

If you get one of these emails, here’s what to do:

  • Don’t click any links. Instead, open a new browser tab and go directly to your Gmail account to check activity or settings.
  • Report the email. Click the three-dot menu in Gmail (top-right corner of the message) and choose “Report phishing.” This helps Google crack down on similar scams.
  • Turn on 2FA if you haven’t already. Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security in case your password ever gets compromised.

FAQs

Q1. What is the Gmail scam currently circulating?

Answer. It’s a phishing scam where emails claiming to be from no-reply@google.com ask users to verify their account activity or risk deactivation. These emails are designed to steal login credentials, recovery information, and 2FA codes.

Q2. How can users spot a phishing email?

Answer. Look out for red flags such as urgent language (e.g., “act within 24 hours”), grammatical errors, and suspicious links that don’t lead to Google’s official website.

Q3. What steps should users take to stay safe from phishing scams?

Answer. Avoid clicking any links in suspicious emails, check Gmail directly for account activity, report phishing emails using Gmail’s “Report phishing” option, and enable two-factor authentication for additional security.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Start April 24, But There’s A Catch

0

Highlights

  • Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders to start from April 24 with the launch set for June 5.
  • Retailer Best Buy will host midnight launch events.
  • The Switch 2 console price remains $449.99 (approx INR 42,687).
  • Accessory prices have increased slightly due to new tariffs.

Nintendo has officially confirmed that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will go live on Thursday, April 24. While this is exciting news, it also comes with a catch that might not completely seem like a reason to rejoice.

Pre-orders were originally supposed to begin on April 9, but Nintendo pushed the date back. The reason was that the company wanted to evaluate the impact of new “reciprocal” tariffs introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this month.

Are Switch 2 Prices Staying the Same?

The good news is the price of the Switch 2 console hasn’t changed and it’ll still cost $449.99 (approx INR 42,687), just like Nintendo announced earlier.

Game prices are also holding steady –

  • The “Mario Kart World” bundle will be $499.99 (approx INR 42,687)
  • The digital version of “Mario Kart World” stays at $79.99 (approx INR 6,829)
  • “Donkey Kong Bananza” will be $69.99 (approx INR 5,975)

These are the same prices Nintendo shared on April 2, so no surprises there.

However, there is a not-so-good part to this update. It is being reported that the Switch 2 accessories are going up in price. It will be as follows –

  • The dock set will cost $10 more
  • The controller strap is $1 more
  • Most other add-ons will cost $5 more

Nintendo confirmed these increases are due to the tariffs, and they could impact future product pricing too. “Future price changes are possible for ‘any Nintendo product’,” the company said.

Why The Delay?

It appears Nintendo needed more time to figure out how the new tariffs would affect them financially. The original Switch consoles were made in China and Vietnam, and both countries are now facing tariffs of 145% and 10%, respectively.

“We apologise for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our consumers may be experiencing,” said Nintendo.

“We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025,” it added.

Pre-Order Date Confirmed

Meanwhile, Retailer Best Buy has confirmed it will also begin pre-orders on April 24.

Many Best Buy stores will hold midnight openings on launch day June 5, so fans can grab their console the moment it drops. This is the first time in six years Best Buy is doing a midnight launch, which shows just how big the hype is.

Check out Nintendo Switch 2 First-look trailer below –

FAQs

Q1. When will Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders and launch take place?

Answer. Pre-orders begin on April 24, 2025, and the console officially launches on June 5, 2025. Best Buy stores will host midnight launch events.

Q2. Has the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 or its games changed?

Answer. The console price remains $449.99 (approx INR 42,687), and game prices like the “Mario Kart World” bundle at $499.99, stay the same. However, accessory prices have increased slightly due to tariffs.

Q3. Why was the pre-order date delayed?

Answer. Pre-orders were delayed from April 9 to assess the impact of new U.S. tariffs (145% for China, 10% for Vietnam) on manufacturing costs.
