Apple Might Be Planning A New iPhone 19 Pro Design For iPhone’s 20th Anniversary In 2027

  • Apple is planning significant updates for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027.

The criticism of Apple not really innovating when it comes to iPhone design has been constant in the last few iPhone series launches. It seems the Cupertino Giant is now keen on changing that and introducing some bold new designs for future iPhones.

According to the latest update from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up for a big change to mark the iPhone’s 20th anniversary next year. One of the most exciting updates could be the launch of the first-ever foldable iPhone. But that’s not all, Apple is also said to be working on a “bold new Pro model.”

If everything goes according to plan, this new Pro iPhone could finally bring to life the vision Jony Ive had for the iPhone. He had always imagined a phone that would “appear like a single sheet of glass,” something Apple started leaning into with the iPhone X.

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman writes, “But the company is preparing a major shake-up for the iPhone’s 20-year anniversary, including a foldable version and a bold new Pro model that makes more extensive use of glass.”

In recent years, Apple’s iPhones have become a bit thicker and less sleek. But now, the company seems to be returning to Jony Ive’s original idea. That shift starts this year with the introduction of the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air and will likely continue next year with the 20th anniversary Pro model.

A design with even more glass might sound like a nightmare for durability and repairs, but honestly, it feels exactly like something Apple would go for, especially to celebrate a major milestone like the iPhone’s 20th birthday.

Gurman has also previously said that the iPhone 17 Air is just the beginning of Apple’s push toward ultra-thin designs. So it’s possible that the iPhone 19 Pro could combine both a super slim build and a glass-heavy design bringing Apple closer than ever to making an iPhone that truly looks like a single sheet of glass.

As for the details, Gurman hasn’t revealed much beyond the fact that more glass is involved. For now, we’ll just have to imagine what Apple has in store.

FAQs

Q1. What are Apple’s plans for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027?

Answer. Apple plans to introduce a foldable iPhone and a bold new Pro model to celebrate the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.

Q2. What design vision is Apple pursuing for the new Pro model?

Answer. The new Pro model aims to embody Jony Ive’s vision of a phone that looks like a single sheet of glass, emphasizing a glass-heavy and sleek design.

Q3. How is Apple progressing toward ultra-thin iPhone designs?

Answer. The shift began with the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, with future models like the iPhone 19 Pro potentially combining slim builds and extensive glass usage.

iPhone 17 Pro Likely to Stick to Familiar Design, Says Gurman

0

Highlights

  • Gurman says iPhone 17 Pro will have a design similar to the iPhone 16 Pro with no major visual overhaul.
  • The front will remain largely unchanged and there won’t be a two-tone design or a smaller Dynamic Island cutout.
  • Bigger design changes are expected in 2027 including a foldable iPhone and a bold new Pro model.

image

There has been a lot of speculation about what Apple might be doing for its next iPhone series design-wise. Some leaked iPhone 17 Pro dummy images and other rumours suggested a major change in how the camera module of upcoming iPhones will look. However, the recent word is there might not be something major to look forward to.

According to Bloomberg’s trusted Apple source Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Pro isn’t expected to come with a major design overhaul. Contrary to the earlier rumours hinting at a more dramatic redesign, Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter now writes that the iPhone 17 Pro will look a lot like the iPhone 16 Pro.

He mentions that we shouldn’t expect a “particularly bold new look.” The front will look “quite similar” to the current model, but the back camera setup will have some noticeable changes.

There had also been speculation about Apple shrinking the Dynamic Island cutout, but Gurman’s latest update suggests that won’t be happening either.

As for the rumoured two-tone design? Gurman says that’s not on the cards.

“Some images online even show a two-tone design, with a dark-black camera block on top of a silver iPhone back. Those are, like many renders on the internet, not an accurate representation of what’s to come. The iPhone 17 Pro won’t have a two-toned back, I’m told. The camera area will be the same color as the rest of the device. That speaks to the more gradual design changes that Apple is making: The iPhone 17 Pro isn’t a major departure from current models,” Gurman writes.

So overall, the iPhone 17 Pro won’t be a huge visual leap from the 16 Pro. The camera bar design is expected to remain, but it’ll match the color of the rest of the phone.

Looking ahead, Gurman hints at bigger changes in 2027, which will mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone. Apple is reportedly planning a foldable iPhone and a “bold new Pro model” that year.

FAQs

Q1. Will the iPhone 17 Pro have a major design overhaul?

Answer. No, according to Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Pro will not feature a major design overhaul and will look similar to the iPhone 16 Pro.

Q2. What changes can be expected in the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera setup?

Answer. While the back camera setup will see some noticeable changes, it will match the color of the rest of the device.

Q3. Are there any significant design updates planned for future iPhone models?

Answer. Yes, bigger design changes are expected in 2027, including a foldable iPhone and a bold new Pro model to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone.

Pixel 10 Camera Specs Leak – Expected To Add Telephoto, Downgrade Sensor for Base Model

0

Highlights

  • The Pixel 10 is to get an 11MP telephoto sensor enhancing zoom capabilities.
  • The base Pixel 10 model replaces its larger sensors with smaller ones, potentially impacting low-light performance despite AI support.
  • The Pixel 10 Pro series retains existing hardware but leverages the Tensor G5 chip and improved algorithms.

We’re getting closer to the launch of Google’s Pixel 10 series and leaks are starting to spill the details. A new report has now revealed the full camera specs for all the upcoming Pixel 10 models and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Here’s what we know.

Google Pixel 10 Camera Details (Leaked)

image

Caption – Google Pixel 10’s previously leaked render. (Image credit – OnLeaks/Android Headlines)

According to recent reports, one of the most noticeable changes is with the base Pixel 10, which is finally getting a telephoto lens, something that’s been exclusive to the Pro models until now. It’ll feature an 11MP Samsung 3J1 telephoto sensor, the same one used in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. That’s definitely a step up in terms of Zoom capabilities.

But it appears the main camera and ultrawide sensor on the base model are getting downgraded.

Instead of the larger GNV sensor (1/1.31″) used in earlier Pixels, the Pixel 10 will use a smaller Samsung GN8 sensor (1/1.95″). The ultrawide sensor is also getting swapped out from the Sony IMX858 (1/2.55″) to a Sony IMX712 (1/3.1″). These are the same sensors used in the Pixel 9a, which could be disappointing for those expecting upgrades across the board.

Smaller sensors generally struggle more in low-light situations, and while Google’s AI image processing can help, it can’t completely make up for the hardware downgrade. The selfie camera, on the other hand, remains unchanged from last year.

So overall, the base Pixel 10 feels a bit like a Pixel 9a with a telephoto lens added on.

Google Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL and Pro Fold – Camera Details (Leaked)

image

Caption – Google Pixel 10 Pro XL’s previously leaked render. (Image credit – OnLeaks/Android Headlines)

As for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, the camera hardware is staying the same. Google is instead banking on its new Tensor G5 chip and improved image algorithms to bring better photo results.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold also gets a minor change. It will swap out the Sony IMX787 for the GN8 sensor, but that’s not a huge shift and probably won’t make headlines.

This move shows that Google is continuing to create more space between its regular and Pro models, a trend that started last year. Adding a telephoto lens to the base model is a welcome change, but it looks like it came at the cost of better main and ultrawide sensors.

Whether that gamble pays off depends on how much Google’s image processing can do with the new setup. We can expect to find out more details later this year.

FAQs

Q1. What new camera feature is being introduced for the base Pixel 10?

Answer. The base Pixel 10 is getting an 11MP telephoto lens, previously exclusive to the Pro models, enhancing its zoom capabilities.

Q2. Are there any downgrades in the Pixel 10’s camera hardware?

Answer. Yes, the main and ultrawide sensors are being downgraded to smaller ones (Samsung GN8 and Sony IMX712), potentially affecting low-light performance.

Q3. How are the Pixel 10 Pro models improving their cameras?

Answer. The Pro models retain the same camera hardware but will rely on the Tensor G5 chip and improved algorithms for better image processing.

WhatsApp Testing New Audio And Video Call Features on Android

0

Highlights

  • WhatsApp beta introduces a mute option in the notification panel that lets users accept voice calls while staying muted.
  • The new Beta feature now allows users to disable their camera before answering video calls.
  • WhatsApp also adds real-time emoji reactions for video calls, making group interactions more engaging.

WhatsApp is working on some handy new features for voice and video calls on Android. According to trusted WhatsApp Beta source WABetaInfo, these updates were spotted in the beta version 2.25.10.16 of the app and are currently available to a limited number of beta testers. Here’s what we know so far.

WhatsApp Testing New Features

WABetaInfo recently reported with screenshots details of the three new features that aim to improve the WhatsApp calling experience.

Caption – WhatsApp is working on an update to improve user experience for voice and video calls. (Screenshot credit – @WABetaInfo on X)

The first one is a mute button that shows up in the notification panel during an incoming voice call. It lets you accept the call while keeping your microphone muted. This can be super helpful if you’re in a meeting, in a noisy place, or just need a moment before speaking. You can quietly join the call without the other person hearing anything on your end right away.

The second feature brings more privacy control to video calls. Previously, when you got a video call, you had to answer it before turning your camera off, which is not ideal if the call was unexpected or from someone you don’t know.

With this new update, you can now disable your camera before picking up the call. This way, you can decide if and when you want to appear on screen. It’s a nice privacy boost, especially when you’re caught off guard.

The third feature is all about making calls more fun. WhatsApp is adding emoji reactions during video calls, allowing you to express yourself without having to interrupt the conversation. These real-time reactions are especially useful in group calls, where you might just want to show a quick thumbs-up or laugh without speaking.

Right now, these features are only available to some beta users on Android, but WhatsApp plans to roll them out to more users in the coming weeks.

FAQs

Q1. What new feature is being introduced for incoming voice calls in WhatsApp?

Answer. WhatsApp beta introduces a mute button in the notification panel, allowing users to accept voice calls while keeping their microphone muted.

Q2. What privacy enhancement is being added for video calls?

Answer. Users can now disable their camera before answering video calls, offering better privacy control, especially for unexpected or unfamiliar calls.

Q3. How is WhatsApp making video calls more interactive?

Answer. WhatsApp is adding real-time emoji reactions during video calls, allowing users to express themselves without interrupting the conversation, particularly in group calls.

Samsung Getting Ready To Launch One UI 8 Based On Android 16 in July With Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7

0

Highlights

  • Samsung is reportedly working to launch One UI 8 based on Android 16 in July 2025.
  • It aims to come with the release of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
  • Compared to the delayed One UI 7 rollout, this timeline hints at a faster software release cycle for Samsung.

image

It seems Samsung doesn’t want any delays with its next big software update. While One UI 7 based on Android 15 faced major delays, a new report suggests that One UI 8 built on Android 16 could arrive much faster. In fact, it might debut as early as July alongside Samsung’s next-gen foldable phones. Here’s what we know so far.

One UI 8 Expected In July With Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7

According to SamMobile, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to launch with One UI 8 right out of the box based on Android 16. This lines up with earlier reports suggesting that Samsung is already internally testing One UI 8.

There have also been rumours that the company might skip its usual in-between updates like One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1, jumping straight to One UI 8.0 instead.

There’s no confirmed timeline yet for when One UI 8 will reach other devices, like the Galaxy S25 series or older models. Still, if this new update rolls out with the upcoming foldables, it’ll be a big improvement compared to the delay with One UI 7.

If the report is accurate, One UI 8 could launch in July. That’s the same month Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 last year, specifically on July 10, 2024. While we don’t know the exact date for the Fold 7 and Flip 7, it’s likely to be in the same window. Last year’s phones actually hit the market on July 24.

Meanwhile, Google is also speeding things up with Android 16 and the update could go official as early as June or July. That means Samsung might beat everyone else, even Google’s own Pixel phones in launching the first Android 16-powered devices this year. The final Beta 4 version is expected to drop sometime this month.

To recall, One UI 7 has had a rocky rollout. Despite Google finalising Android 15 six months ago, Samsung only released the beta in December 2024. The Galaxy S25 series launched in January with One UI 7 pre-installed, but no other Samsung phone had access to it at the time. The stable version of One UI 7 is finally set to start rolling out early next week.

FAQs

Q1. When will One UI 8 be launched?

Answer. Samsung is reportedly planning to launch One UI 8 based on Android 16 in July 2025, alongside the release of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Q2. Will Samsung include intermediate updates like One UI 7.1 before One UI 8?

Answer. According to rumours, Samsung might skip intermediate updates such as One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1, and jump directly to One UI 8.0.

Q3. How does the rollout timeline for One UI 8 compare to One UI 7?

Answer. The One UI 8 rollout is expected to be much faster than One UI 7, which faced significant delays. If accurate, this represents an improved and faster release cycle for Samsung.

Apple’s Foldable iPhone Could Come With A Compact Display

  • The iPhone Fold may feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display.

It has already been widely reported that Apple is working on a foldable iPhone and now a new report suggests it is going to be quite compact. According to a new report, the iPhone Fold expected to launch next year could bring back that small-screen experience in a whole new form. Here’s what we know so far.

Foldable iPhone – Compact Display

While the iPhone Fold is still in the rumour stage, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared some interesting details. The device will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch outer display, which is just a hair larger than the 5.4-inch screen on the iPhone mini.

If true, this would make the foldable iPhone the smallest modern iPhone screen, considering all current models start at 6.1 inches or more.

But that’s not all.

Once you unfold it, the iPhone Fold is expected to reveal a 7.8-inch inner display, similar in size to the iPad mini. This combination of compact portability and a larger screen could make it appealing to both small phone fans and power users who want more screen real estate.

Kuo revealed that the foldable iPhone will “adopt a left-right folding design (book style), equipped with an approximately 7.8-inch inner screen (without crease) and an approximately 5.5-inch outer screen. The thickness is about 9-9.5mm when folded, and about 4.5-4.8mm when unfolded.”

Foldale iPhone – Expected Price

The iPhone Fold is expected to start at $2,000, which translates to roughly Rs 1,66,000. That’s significantly more than the iPhone mini and even pricier than the iPhone Pro Max. Compared to other foldables on the market, this one sits firmly in the premium category.

As of now, the details remain limited. We will have to wait and see what surprises Apple has in store when it finally makes this device official.

FAQs

Q1. What is the expected screen size of the iPhone Fold?

Answer. The iPhone Fold is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display, offering both compact portability and expanded screen real estate.

Q2. How much will the iPhone Fold cost?

Answer. The iPhone Fold is expected to launch at a price of $2,000 (roughly Rs 1,66,000), placing it in the premium category compared to other foldables and iPhones.

Q3. When is the iPhone Fold likely to be launched?

Answer. The iPhone Fold is anticipated to make its debut next year, bringing a foldable design that appeals to both small phone enthusiasts and power users.

We earlier reported that Samsung fans might have to wait a bit longer for the Galaxy S25 Edge as the launch date has reportedly been pushed back. While an initial report pointed to an April 15 unveiling, a new SamMobile report now suggests that Samsung is now planning to reveal the device on May 13. Here’s what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Delayed for “Technical Reasons”

The new launch timeline lines up with reports from ET News and WinFuture, which claim the delay was a last-minute decision. Citing sources close to Samsung, WinFuture notes that the shift happened due to “technical reasons” that “make further testing necessary.”

It’s unclear exactly what those issues are, but it sounds more serious than initially reported. Still, reports from Korea make it clear that the delay wasn’t due to “quality” issues, which should be somewhat reassuring.

Instead of a big global launch event, Samsung is reportedly opting for an online-only presentation, which might vary by region.

  • Cameras: A 200MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP front camera for selfies.
