iPhone Ultra Leak Suggests Unusual Corner Placement of Front Cameras

0

Highlights

  • iPhone Ultra’s leaked screen protector suggests an outer display camera in top-right corner and inner display camera in top-left.
  • The first foldable iPhone is expected with 5.5-inch cover display, 7.8-inch inner display, A20 Pro chip, dual 48MP rear cameras, dual front cameras and a 5,000mAh battery.
  • Launch of next-gen iPhones including iPhone Ultra is expected in September.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, is expected to be unveiled next month. Ahead of its anticipated debut, a new leak has suggested that the device could feature an unusual camera placement on both its displays.

Is iPhone Ultra Moving Front Cameras to the Corners?

A video of an alleged third-party screen protector of the upcoming iPhone Ultra has recently surfaced online and was shared by trusted tipsters like Ice Universe on X. It appears to show a camera cutout in the top-right corner of the outer display, while the cutout for the inner display appears to be positioned in the top-left corner.

The iPhone Ultra will mark Apple’s first entry into the foldable smartphone market and its design is expected to differ from other iPhone models in several ways. The camera setup could be one of those major changes.

The foldable iPhone is rumoured to feature two rear cameras including a main and an ultra wide sensor along with two front-facing cameras. It was expected that the front camera on the outer display would sit in the usual top-centre position. However, a newly leaked accessory suggests Apple could take a different approach.

iPhone Ultra’s previously leaked dummy unit images.

Multiple sources have, however, cast doubt on the authenticity of the viral screen protectors. There is a possibility that the accessory manufacturer has simply got the placement wrong. Third-party accessory makers often have to make educated guesses about unreleased devices.

However, if the leak turns out to be accurate, the camera placement would represent a significant change from Apple’s classic iPhone design.

Apple has traditionally placed the front-facing selfie camera at the top centre of its iPhones. Tech enthusiasts online have raised concerns that moving the selfie camera to a corner may result in users looking away from the camera while taking selfies, particularly when capturing group shots.

iPhone fans have been mostly expecting an off-centre camera on the inner display considering the camera simply cannot be positioned over the fold. And if the outer screen also has its camera positioned away from the centre, users may need considerable time to adjust to the new placement.

Overall, we will have to wait for more details to know more about these design choices that Apple is making. As of now, we know that Apple’s first foldable will most likely arrive next month. Expected features include a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner display, the A20 Pro chip, a 48-megapixel dual rear camera and a 5,000mAh battery.

Honor 700 May Get 1.7-Inch Rear Screen

Highlights

  • Honor is reportedly testing a slim, camera-focused smartphone with a 1.7-inch rear display, possibly debuting with the Honor 700 series later this year.
  • The brand has reportedly begun trial production of a 12,000mAh battery, expected in early 2027 with a 3nm Dimensity 8600 chipset.
  • Honor is also exploring a larger wide-screen foldable and developing its WIN 2 gaming series with 7-inch panels.

Honor appears to be expanding its smartphone portfolio with several new devices in development. The company just unveiled its Robot Phone in China and flagship Magic 9 series is also expected in September. Now, new details shared by reliable tipsters on Weibo have revealed what could be next from the brand.

Honor 700 Could Feature a Rear Display

DCS’s post on Weibo.

According to Digital Chat Station’s latest post, Honor is testing a smartphone design that would feature a secondary display on the rear. The device is said to be a slim, camera-focused smartphone with the rear screen measuring around 1.7 inches.

However, the tipster claims that Honor’s flagship series is currently not expected to use this design.

DCS has not revealed the exact model that could get the rear display. However, the upcoming Honor 700 series is one possibility. Based on Honor’s previous launch schedule, the Honor 700 lineup could be introduced in China sometime in November or December this year.

Honor Testing Phone With 12,000mAh Battery

Separately, DCS has also revealed that Honor has started trial production of a new smartphone battery with a rated capacity of 11,790mAh and a rated energy of 43.86Wh. The battery’s typical capacity is expected to be around 12,000mAh, making it another ultra-large battery solution being tested by the company.

The tipster has not confirmed which Honor smartphone will use this battery. However, it could potentially be used in the upcoming Honor Power 3. The phone is expected to launch by early 2027 and could be powered by the next-generation 3nm Dimensity 8600 chipset.

Honor’s Larger Wide-Screen Foldable and WIN 2 Series

Honor is also reportedly looking into a new wide-screen foldable smartphone. However, DCS says the project has not yet entered formal development. If the company moves ahead with it, Honor is considering a larger display as the two existing wide foldable smartphones currently on the market are said to feature screens measuring between 6.3 and 6.4 inches.

Earlier reports have claimed that Honor’s wide foldable could feature a 20-megapixel primary camera, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and a 7,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, development and launch of its Win 2 series of gaming smartphones is also speeding up. The new gaming-focused models are speculated to debut in China as early as October.

As per tipster SmartPikachu on Weibo, Honor is considering two 7-inch large display panels for the WIN 2 series. Apart from the large display, the brand is also reworking an equal-depth quad-curved design.

Notably, Honor hasn’t revealed any of the details officially yet.

Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold Display and Design

image - 2026-08-12T223900.425

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a 6.5-inch external Super Actua display with a 1,080 x 2,342-pixel resolution, 399ppi pixel density and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Inside, there is a larger 8-inch Super Actua Flex display with a 2,076 x 2,152-pixel resolution and 372ppi density.

Both displays use LTPO technology and support a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. They can reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness, while HDR content can reach 2,400 nits. The outer display is protected by glass ceramic cover glass, while the foldable inner screen uses Ultra Thin Glass.

Google has also updated the hinge mechanism with multi-alloy steel and an aerospace-grade aluminium cover. The new foldable is thinner than the previous generation, measuring 10.1mm when folded, which is 0.6mm thinner than its predecessor. When unfolded, its thickness has dropped from 5.2mm to 5mm.

Tensor G6 Powers the Pixel 11 Pro Fold

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chipset. According to Google, the new processor delivers 20 percent better energy efficiency, 25 percent faster web browsing and 15 percent faster app launch times compared with the previous-generation Tensor G5.

The chipset is paired with 16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Google notes that the base 256GB version does not feature Zoned UFS, similar to last year’s model.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold Cameras

Google has upgraded the main rear camera on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold compared with the previous generation. It now uses a 48-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size and an f/1.7 aperture. This is a notable improvement over the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s 1/1.95-inch main sensor.

Google claims the new camera can capture 56 percent more light than its predecessor.

The remaining cameras are largely unchanged. The phone features a 10.5-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 1/3.4-inch sensor and f/2.2 aperture, along with a 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera featuring a 1/3.2-inch sensor, f/3.1 aperture and 5x optical zoom.

There are also two 10-megapixel front-facing cameras with f/2.2 apertures, one for the main display and another for the cover screen. The main front camera supports autofocus.

While the telephoto hardware remains the same as the previous generation, Google has increased the phone’s maximum Super Res Zoom to 30x. This improvement is likely linked to the upgraded TPU and ISP in the Tensor G6 chipset.

Foldable Features and HiLight

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold gets the same HiLight LED feature found on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL. Google has also added software features designed specifically for the foldable form factor.

These include dual-screen preview, rear-camera selfies, tabletop mode, Made You Look and Instant View. These features are designed to take advantage of the two displays and the phone’s flexible design.

Gemini AI Features and Connectivity

Google has packed the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with a range of AI features powered by Gemini. These include Gemini Intelligence, Gemini Nano, Gemini Live, Magic Cue, Circle to Search, Live Translate and Call Assist. Google notes that the availability of some features may vary depending on the country and language.

For connectivity, the foldable supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Ultra-wideband, NFC, Google Cast and USB Type-C 3.2. It also supports dual-SIM connectivity through one Nano SIM and one eSIM.

image - 2026-08-12T224002.621

Pixel 11 Pro Fold Durability and Other Features

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It also has a fingerprint-resistant coating and an aerospace-grade aluminium frame. Google has used recycled materials across several components of the phone as part of its sustainability efforts.

The device also includes safety-focused features such as Car Crash Detection, Safety Check, Emergency Contacts, Android Earthquake Alerts and theft protection. Other features include stereo speakers and support for Spatial Audio.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is positioned as a thinner and lighter foldable than its predecessor while continuing to offer strong durability. The question, however, arises as to how it holds up against another recently launched foldable, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.

One of its major differences from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the processor.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses Google’s Tensor G6 chipset, which is designed with a strong focus on AI capabilities. Google says the chip offers higher memory bandwidth, up to 3.5 times faster AI performance and an upgraded CPU for faster everyday tasks.

Tensor processors place greater emphasis on AI capabilities rather than performance. The Tensor G6 continues that approach by powering Google’s range of AI tools including Magic Editor, Gemini and Circle to Search.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8, meanwhile, uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy designed to offer a combination of high performance and AI capabilities.

Here’s a quick comparison between the two leading foldable devices –

Honor Robot Phone Officially Launched in China With 200MP Titanium Gimbal Camera

0

Highlights

  • Honor Robot Phone launches in China featuring the world’s smallest titanium 4D gimbal system with 200MP AI‑powered camera and robotic functions.
  • Specs include Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 6.3″ LTPO OLED 120Hz display, 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, up to 16GB RAM/1TB storage.
  • Price starts at CNY 9,999 for the base 12GB+512GB variant.

Honor has finally launched its much-hyped Honor Robot Phone in China after first teasing it way back in October last year. The device has appeared in several leaks and teasers sine then, while Honor has also showcased an early prototype at CES. Its biggest highlight of this unique smartphone is a mechanical gimbal camera built directly into the rear of the smartphone.

And now, the company has finally revealed the complete specifications, pricing and availability details of the Robot Phone.

Honor Robot Phone With Tiny Titanium Gimbal

The Robot Phone is a flagship Android smartphone built around its unique gimbal camera system. Honor says developing the mechanism involved more than 60 manufacturing processes and over 100 precision components.

The gimbal system is also backed by more than 100 patents. Honor claims it is the industry’s smallest titanium gimbal system and is 65 percent smaller than traditional gimbals such as those found in products like DJI’s Osmo Pocket series. The company describes it as the industry’s smallest 4D gimbal system.

At the heart of the mechanism is an ultralight 2.6-gram titanium gimbal motor that is only 6mm thick. Despite the complicated camera mechanism, the complete system fits within the phone’s 9.6mm-thick body. The Robot Phone weighs 248 grams, however, making it considerably heavier than many conventional smartphones.

200MP Gimbal Camera with AI tracking

The main gimbal camera uses a large 1/1.28-inch sensor with 200-megapixel resolution and an f/1.6 aperture. It supports video recording at up to 4K resolution and works with Honor’s H1 imaging chip.

Users can also control certain gimbal functions through voice commands. For example, they can ask the phone to rotate the gimbal or focus on a particular point.

The camera system also uses AI-powered subject tracking with real-time auto-framing and tracking features designed for vlogging, livestreaming and video calls.

Honor has designed the gimbal to do more than simply help users record videos. The company has integrated it with its Yoyo AI assistant, which allows the Robot Phone to observe and interact with its surroundings and carry out certain tasks on its own.

Honor has also given the gimbal more than 100 facial expressions and movements including nodding and peeking. It can even dance along with music, adding to the phone’s robot-like personality.

First Honor Phone from ARRI Partnership

The Robot Phone is also the first product to arrive as part of Honor’s partnership with ARRI, the renowned German cinema equipment company.

As part of the collaboration, the phone supports native Log-C3 video encoding and LUT colour grading with the latter processed directly on the device. It also includes a dedicated cinema mode designed to reproduce the visual style and feel of ARRI cinema cameras.

The gimbal camera is joined by two other rear cameras. These include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera that also works as a macro camera.

Honor Robot Phone – Other Key Specifications

Moving beyond the cameras, the Honor Robot Phone features a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2,640 x 1,216 pixels. The panel supports a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, allowing it to adjust according to the content on screen. The display can reach a peak local brightness of 6,800 nits. Honor has also added its AR anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and improve visibility.

The Honor Robot Phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It is available with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

On the software side, the smartphone runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.

It gets a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Honor Robot Phone – Price and Availability

The Honor Robot Phone sale in China is scheduled to start from August 18. It will be offered in Silver and Grey colour options in China.

As for China pricing, the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant is priced at CNY 9,999 (around $1,482), while the higher-end 16GB RAM + 1TB storage version costs CNY 12,999 (around $1,927).

Honor has not yet revealed when the Robot Phone will be launched in other markets.
