Infinix Note 50x 5G+ – Unboxing

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Design and Build Quality

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Design and Build Quality

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ comes with a major design upgrade from its predecessor. The phone comes in vegan leather and metallic finishes with some cool colour options. For this review, we had the Titanium Grey colour variant in a metallic finish. At first glance, the phone looks quite premium with its polished aesthetic.

The octagonal gem-cut camera module is different from the regular square or circular modules we usually get to see in smartphones. The camera module has integrated what the brand calls Active Halo Lighting. It is a cool design choice where a light is triggered in different patterns for notifications, calls, charging and more. There is even a Halo light pattern for a countdown timer, which can be used for photography.

It seems lightweight at around 195g with a slim 7.98mm frame. There is a soft curve around the edges that makes it easier to grip. The corners are rounded to give the phone a smoother look.

The build quality of the phone is also something we have to talk about. NOTE 50x 5G+ comes with Military Grade Durability and has been designed to withstand tough situations. The phone is MIL-STD-810H certified, IP64 rated and splash-proof rated. This means the phone is capable of handling drops, dust, water and even extreme temperatures. It also supports wet and greasy touch. The build looks sturdy as well, just as the phone feels solid in hand.

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Display and Multimedia Experience

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Display and Multimedia Experience

The NOTE 50x 5G+ features a decent IPS LCD punch-hole display that seems to be a good addition to an everyday phone. It is 6.67 inches HD+ with 1a 20Hz refresh rate that according to the brand can easily support streaming or gaming needs.

Visually, we found the display quite similar to what we have already seen in the Infinix Note 40X last year. In fact, some of the specs have seen a downgrade if we compare them on the specs sheet. To be honest, we wish it was an AMOLED panel this year to enhance the overall visual experience.

The bezels are noticeable, especially the chin. It comes with a typical brightness of 560 nits and peak brightness of 672 nits. We felt this was satisfactory for indoor use, but as soon as you are out in the day time, the phone brightness hardly manages to keep up.

The 120Hz refresh rate manages to keep things smooth. We didn’t face any lags or hangups for whatever time we used to phone.

Infinix has incorporated the NOTE 50x 5G+ with Dual Speakers, DTS Audio Processing and Hi-Res Audio features to elevate the overall multimedia experience. The audio quality is good when indoors.

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Hardware, Software and Performance

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Hardware, Software and Performance

One of the key highlights of the phone is that it features the World’s 1st MediaTek Dimensity 7300 ULTIMATE processor. It promises ultra-fast performance, smooth gaming and seamless multitasking. Paired with up to 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB UFS2.2 ROM, the phone comes equipped with hardware that should be able to handle all tasks smoothly. The 128 GB internal storage does seem limited, but it appears that’s the only option NOTE 50x 5G+ users will get.

We have managed to spend a good amount of time with the phone, and it does deliver most of its promises when it comes to performance. We had the 6 GB RAM variant and it manages to stay smooth for all everyday tasks ensuring a pleasant overall experience. We didn’t face any issues in everyday use, which mostly involves internet surfing, emails, streaming, social media scrolling, UPI payments and so on. The phone hardly runs into any performance issues and can manage multitasking quite well.

Our variant scored 602713 on AnTuTu, which seems quite modest compared to many competitor phones in the segment. We also put the phone through some other benchmarking tests and below are the results for reference.

NOTE 50x 5G+ has a dedicated Game Mode and supports 90FPS gaming in ideal conditions. We tried playing some of the popular demanding games on the phone and the overall experience was good. You can expect the phone to support your gaming sessions well when played at medium graphic settings. The frame drops or any stuttering was barely noticeable, if any. It also manages thermals well. We didn’t experience any heating issues even during long gaming sessions.

image

The smartphone comes with XOS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. Now, this introduces some cool new refreshed appearance changes. The UI is clean and has plenty of customisation options for icon size, shape, and colour. There are some interesting features such as Dynamic Bar, Smart Panel and Peek Proof.

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Camera Performance

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Camera Performance

NOTE 50x 5G+ boasts a 50MP ultra-clear dual rear camera with dual LED flash on rear. It is supported with 12 photography modes and AI features to enhance the overall shooting experience. There is an 8MP Selfie camera with a front and screen flash to support video calls, selfies and other front camera requirements.

Overall, the camera performance of the NOTE 50x 5G+ is decent for a phone in this segment. It takes clear pictures in broad daylight with minimum noise. The colour balance in the pictures is good. However, what’s surprising is how the phone manages to do an impressive job in low light conditions as well.

You will notice that in most of the pictures above that the end result is quite natural. There is no over-smoothening or artificial elements in the shots. The dynamic range is also impressive.

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – AI Features

We tested these features and most of them work better than one would expect from a phone in this segment. The Wallpaper Generator is a fun feature, the AI Eraser does a decent job and even Folax seems to be quite fine-tuned.

Here are some nice wallpapers we created using the Infinix AI Wallpaper Generator.

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Battery and Charging

Infinix NOTE 50x 5G+ – Battery and Charging

The phone comes with a high-capacity 5500mAh SolidCore (semi-solid state) battery. The semi-solid battery means you get more capacity without making the phone too heavy. It is good to get you through the entire day with average or even moderate use. However, with heavy usage, such as long gaming sessions or streaming content, you can expect the phone to offer around 5 to 6 hours of screen time.

For situations when you need power tops, Infinis is packing 45W Type-C Fast Charging support that delivers rapid power-ups. The good thing is that Infinix is bundling a 45W adapter inside the box, which so many brands today don’t care for.

The All-Round FastCharge 3.0 gives features like Wired Reverse Charging, Bypass Charging, Smart Charge mode, and Low-Temp Charge mode. There is also 10W Wired Reverse Charging. Moreover, Infinix claims up to 2300 Charge Cycles, which means a battery life of approximately 6 Years.

GTA 6 and disappointment seem to be synonymous now. 25th March was another day of disappointment for GTA 6 fans, who have been displaying next-level patience at the moment. So, here’s what happened in the last few days, if you weren’t aware.

After waiting for what feels like an eternity, players were hoping that March 25th would bring a new trailer. They shouldn’t be blamed for keeping hope alive since rumours were everywhere.

But in classic Rockstar Games fashion, nothing happened. No Trailer, No Updates, NOTHING!!!

When we talk about disappointment and fans’ patience, we have to look at the timeline to get some perspective. GTA 5 was launched in September 2013, and that’s over 12 years ago. Delays and vague updates have left fans frustrated and restless. While Take-Two Interactive has confirmed GTA 6 will arrive later this year, the road has been anything but smooth.

Reddit was flooded with sarcastic comments like “Oh dear, I am flabbergasted.”

One user wrote, “WHAT?!?!?! NO GTA 6 UPDATES. WHO COULD’VE GUESSED.”

“They’re releasing it after the game comes out in 2190,” another added.

One user summed up the recent 25th March rumour fiasco perfectly. They wrote, “No way really? The random guy in a comment section everybody chose to believe for no reason was wrong?”

However, a few hopeful fans tried to stay optimistic. One pointed out, “But what if it was actually later in the day? The day is not yet over.”

GTA 6 – What We Know?

While Rockstar Games has kept mostly everything related to the release under wraps, here’s what’s confirmed so far:

  • Consoles – Launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. No word on PC yet.
  • Location – It is A return to Vice City, but set in modern times and not the ‘80s version. Rockstar Games calls it “the biggest, most immersive evolution” of the series.
  • Characters – Lucia is GTA’s first female protagonist. Seen wearing prison attire in the trailer, hinting at a storyline involving legal trouble.

NPCI Bhim Services Ltd, a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has launched BHIM 3.0, bringing new features to make UPI payments easier and more convenient. Here’s everything that you should know about the BHIM 3.0 app.

BHIM 3.0 – What’s New?

The latest update introduces several user-friendly features, including:

  • Bill Splitting – Easily split expenses with friends and family.

BHIM Vega – Instant In-App Payments

A major highlight of BHIM 3.0 is BHIM Vega, an in-app payment system that lets users pay merchants instantly within the app, without switching to third-party apps.

Speaking at the launch, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive director Vivek Deep emphasised the importance of customer satisfaction and a strong support system to retain users.

“Efforts should continue to be focused on monitoring customer satisfaction and ensuring that suitable address mechanism is available to those who are already onboarded so that they do not move away to other places,” Deep said.

NPCI Bhim Services CEO Lalitha Nataraj is optimistic about the app’s growth.

“See, when you put up a clean UI UX and give a customer experience, there will be an organic growth in market share. And we will continue working on retention, because all this while, we were not putting this out as a commercial app, we were looking at it more as a reference app. So I’m sure organic acquisitions and retentions will continue. And as we see the adoption, then we will be able to draw out a meaningful business plan,” Nataraj said.

BHIM 3.0 App – Rollout and Availability

BHIM 3.0 will start rolling out in April 2025 in a phased manner. Users can update the app on Android and iOS via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Google has introduced Gemini 2.5, its latest AI reasoning model family designed to pause and “think” before responding to questions. The new model is part of a next-generation AI family focused on improving reasoning capabilities.

To kick things off, Google is launching Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, a multimodal AI model that it calls its most intelligent model yet. It will be available in Google AI Studio and the Gemini app for users subscribed to Google’s $20-a-month Gemini Advanced plan.

Moving forward, all new Google AI models will come with built-in reasoning abilities, aligning with a growing industry trend.

AI reasoning models are designed to take extra time and computing power to verify facts and analyze problems before generating answers. Since OpenAI launched the first AI reasoning model o1 in September 2024, other companies including Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google and xAI have been racing to develop their own.

These models have been particularly useful for tasks like math, coding, and autonomous AI agents, but they also come with higher computational costs.

Paytm Payments Services Discontinues Ties With Third-Party Platforms, Transitions To Direct Processing

0

Highlights

  • PPSL will discontinue third-party payment orchestration platforms like Juspay.
  • Merchants will have to process transactions directly through PPSL, effective April.
  • The move aligns with actions by fintech firms like PhonePe, Cashfree Payments and Razorpay
  • Juspay is making its payment orchestration layer open-source, allowing merchants to self-host and integrate with payment gateways.

Paytm Payments Services (PPSL) is making a big shift by asking merchants to stop using third-party payment orchestration platforms like Juspay. According to sources, this change will take effect in April, meaning all transactions will be processed directly through Paytm’s own business-to-business payments arm, without any external routing services.

Paytm’s decision follows a trend set by other fintech companies like PhonePe, Cashfree Payments, and Razorpay, which made similar moves about two months ago.

Paytm and Juspay don’t have a direct relationship, merchants use Juspay’s payment routing services because it connects with multiple payment aggregators (PAs). This orchestration helps merchants achieve better transaction success rates by dynamically selecting the best PA based on factors like downtime and transaction costs.

Now, Paytm wants merchants to integrate directly with PPSL instead of relying on Juspay or similar platforms.

A senior fintech executive shared, “We have understood that Paytm will also levy a one per cent additional fee on its merchants after they move away from Juspay. It indicates that companies are increasingly trying to enclose customers within themselves.”

This move aligns with Paytm’s competitors but it comes at a time when Juspay is trying a different approach, making its orchestration layer open-source so businesses of all sizes can use it as in-house software instead of relying on a third-party router.

Juspay stated, “Merchants can self-host the solution in their own infrastructure, plug into the growing diversity of payment innovations globally, integrate with their preferred payment gateways, and define their own transaction rules with complete transparency and flexibility.”

However, industry experts are skeptical about how much of Juspay’s stack has truly been open-sourced. “When Juspay speaks of open source, it should first be understood what critical elements of the stack the company has opened,” another fintech executive noted.

Juspay claims its open-source model includes an advanced success rate optimisation algorithm, automatic failover for downtime protection, and rule-based routing with over 100 configurations.

This shift marks a significant change in the digital payments space, with companies either locking merchants into direct processing (like Paytm) or offering open-source solutions (like Juspay) to stay competitive.

FAQs

Q1. What changes is Paytm Payments Services (PPSL) implementing for merchants?

Answer. PPSL is asking merchants to stop using third-party payment orchestration platforms, like Juspay, and transition to direct transaction processing through PPSL starting in April.

Q2. How does this decision align with industry trends?

Answer. Paytm’s move follows similar actions by fintech companies like PhonePe, Cashfree Payments, and Razorpay, which have also shifted to direct processing to enclose customers within their ecosystems.

Q3. What is Juspay’s response to this shift in the industry?

Answer. Juspay is offering its payment orchestration layer as open-source software, allowing merchants to self-host, integrate with preferred payment gateways, and define their own transaction rules flexibly.
