Samsung is preparing to expand the rollout of One UI 8, its customised skin based on Android 16, across more Galaxy smartphones. While some Galaxy devices have already started receiving the update, a newly surfaced schedule sheds light on when the broader rollout could take place.

One UI 8 and Android 16 Coming to More Galaxy Devices

According to the leaked timeline, Samsung is gearing up to deliver One UI 8 with Android 16 to a wide range of Galaxy models over the next few months. The update ensures that the most recent Galaxy phones will eventually make the jump to Android 16, though the rollout will be staggered depending on the model.

As has been the case in previous years, Samsung’s update plans can differ significantly across devices. The leaked schedule provides an early look at which phones may get the update first, offering Galaxy users a rough idea of what to expect.

The leaked roadmap has reportedly originated from Samsung and mainly covers devices in Asia.

The list as it stands today based on SammyGuru’s recent report is as follows –

  • Galaxy S25 Ultra – September 18
  • Galaxy S25+ – September 18

iPhone 17 Pro Leak Hints at Smaller Dynamic Island, Major Camera Upgrades, and New Back Design

Latest iPhone Pro and Pro Max leaks and rumours ahead of the launch.

Apple is just days away from officially unveiling the iPhone 17 lineup, but leaks and rumours continue to reveal what we might expect from the Pro models this year. Here’s the roundup of all the latest rumours.

iPhone 17 Pro Could Feature Smaller Dynamic Island

image image image

A new leak suggests Apple may finally be reducing the size of the Dynamic Island, but only for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The images were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account @that_one_g3 (via MacRumors). It shows a noticeably smaller cutout.

According to the leaker, who claims to work for a company that makes iPhone screen protectors, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will keep the same 2cm Dynamic Island as before. However, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature a 25% smaller version, measuring just 1.5cm. Such last-minute leaks are not unusual ahead of Apple’s major launch events, as final product details often surface close to release.

While the source has no track record of Apple leaks, the claim aligns with past reports hinting at Apple’s plans to shrink the Dynamic Island on its higher-end models.

Analyst Jeff Pu previously this year suggested the iPhone 17 Pro Max will most likely have a smaller Dynamic Island compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and previous models. Meanwhile, another leaker claimed Apple might go for a “metalens” for Face ID. This integrates the transmitter and receiver components in order to reduce the size and thickness of structural elements. Eventually, this would result in a smaller Dynamic Island on the device.

iPhone 17 Pro Cameras – Biggest Upgrades Yet

Apple’s camera improvements remain a major focus every year, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed what users can expect at the September 9 event. According to his report, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max cameras will see five major upgrades –

  • Video recording will receive “major enhancements”
  • Telephoto lens resolution will jump from 12MP to 48MP
  • Introduction of a variable aperture system
  • Multi-cam simultaneous video recording support
  • Selfie camera will get its “biggest-ever upgrade”

Gurman highlights video recording improvements as the most significant change, specifically mentioning simultaneous front-and-back camera recording.

The addition of a variable aperture system is also noteworthy. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously predicted it would arrive with the iPhone 18 series instead. If true, this would mark one of the standout features of this year’s Pro models.

New Back Design for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max

Beyond the display and cameras, the iPhone 17 Pro lineup may also bring a major design refresh.

Gurman notes that “the latest high-end versions, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, will have new backs that give a fresh look to the camera areas.”

He further adds, “The back of the phones look different, including a new camera area that spans the entire length of the top third of the device as well as a new cutout area on the bottom two-thirds of the phone that doubles as the wireless charging area.”

This description supports recent leaks pointing toward an aluminium-and-glass build rather than the full-glass design seen in current models. The shift from titanium and glass to aluminium with reduced glass usage could not only make the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max lighter but also set the stage for Apple’s rumoured all-glass iPhone 20.

If accurate, the redesign would be the most noticeable change to the iPhone Pro series in years, giving users both a fresh aesthetic and a more practical build.

FAQs

Q1. Will the iPhone 17 Pro have a smaller Dynamic Island?

Answer. Yes. Leaks suggest the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature a 25% smaller Dynamic Island (1.5cm), while the standard models retain the current 2cm size.

Q2. What camera upgrades are expected in the iPhone 17 Pro series?

Answer. Major enhancements include a 48MP telephoto lens, variable aperture system, simultaneous front-and-back video recording, and a significantly improved selfie camera.

Q3. Is there a design change in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max?

Answer. Yes. The Pro models may feature a redesigned back with a top-third camera strip and a bottom wireless charging cutout, shifting to an aluminium-and-glass build.

Apple India Sales Reach Record $9 Billion as Retail Expansion and Local Manufacturing Boost Growth

Highlights

  • Apple’s India revenue hit nearly $9 billion in FY ending March, up 13% YoY.
  • Apple opened flagship stores in Mumbai and New Delhi with more planned in Noida and Mumbai.
  • Rising middle-class demand and incentives like trade-ins and student discounts are boosting premium device adoption despite high import taxes.

Apple has achieved a major milestone in India with annual sales crossing nearly $9 billion in the last fiscal year, driven by strong demand for iPhones and an expanding retail footprint. The record numbers highlight the country’s growing importance for the Cupertino-based tech giant, as global smartphone sales plateau and competition intensifies in China.

Apple’s Record-Breaking Sales in India

According to a person familiar with the matter, Apple’s revenue in India grew by 13% year-on-year, rising from $8 billion to almost $9 billion in the 12 months ending March. The bulk of sales came from the company’s flagship iPhones, while demand for MacBook laptops also saw a notable increase.

This growth provides a much-needed boost for Apple, which has been navigating challenges in other key markets. While India still contributes only a fraction of Apple’s global revenue, it is quickly emerging as a strategic growth hub.

Retail Expansion in India

As part of its retail strategy, Apple recently opened two new stores in Bangalore and Pune. The company also plans to add another outlet in Noida (Delhi NCR) and a second Mumbai store early next year.

Apple had been restricted from launching its iconic stores in India for years due to local sourcing rules. Following policy changes, Apple launched its online store in 2020, and in 2023, CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the company’s first two flagship retail stores in Mumbai and New Delhi. Since then, Apple has continued strengthening its retail presence with more exclusive outlets and premium resellers.

India’s rising middle class, higher disposable incomes, and growing appetite for premium devices have made it a crucial focus for Apple. Counterpoint Research’s Tarun Pathak notes that iPhones already account for around 7% of India’s smartphone market, where they are often seen as a status symbol.

However, iPhones remain expensive due to high import taxes. For instance, the entry-level iPhone 16 starts at ₹79,900 ($906) in India, compared to $799 in the US. To address this, Apple has introduced student discounts, trade-in programs, and bank partnerships for cashback offers, which have helped boost adoption.

Manufacturing Shift to India

Beyond retail, India is also becoming a key part of Apple’s manufacturing ecosystem. Currently, one in every five iPhones is produced in India with plans to expand further as Apple diversifies away from China. The company now manufactures iPhones at five facilities in India, including two recently launched factories. According to Bloomberg, Apple intends to make India a major hub for US-bound iPhones.

Apple did not comment on the sales report, but CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly emphasised India as one of the company’s fastest-growing markets. With expanding production, new stores, and rising consumer demand, Apple is positioning itself to make India a cornerstone of both its retail and manufacturing strategy.

FAQs

Q1. What drove Apple’s record $9 billion sales in India last fiscal year?

Answer. Apple’s India revenue rose 13% year-on-year, fueled by strong iPhone demand, growing MacBook sales, and an expanding retail presence. The country is becoming a strategic growth hub as global markets slow.

Q2. How is Apple expanding its retail footprint in India?

Answer. Apple opened flagship stores in Mumbai and New Delhi in 2023, with new outlets planned for Noida and Mumbai. The company also offers online sales, trade-in programs, student discounts, and bank cashback offers to boost adoption.

Q3. Is Apple manufacturing iPhones in India now?

Answer. Yes. One in five iPhones is currently made in India across five facilities. Apple is scaling production to reduce reliance on China and aims to make India a major hub for US-bound iPhones.

The report reveals that Counterpoint Research‘s study has surveyed over 4,500 respondents across 26 cities found that 78% of users avoid using their phones in rain, water, or extreme heat due to fear of damage. Oppo, while addressing these very same concerns, highlighted that every phone undergoes over 150 quality tests at its Greater Noida facility before hitting the market. These include drop tests from 2.5 meters, water immersion at 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, and performance trials under extreme heat, cold, and humidity.

Oppo’s product strategy team emphasised that “durability is no longer optional but a necessity.” The company is applying certifications such as SGS, TÜV Rheinland, and MIL-STD-810H-2022 to the new models, along with its 360° Armour Body design for added protection.

Counterpoint Research further noted that 79% of Indian consumers rank durability as one of the top factors when purchasing a smartphone.

Famous tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo recently disclosed in a post that the OnePlus 15 will be the first smartphone to use BOE’s Oriental X3 panel. This follows last year’s OnePlus 13, which introduced the BOE X2 display and earned DisplayMate’s top A++ rating.

The X3 panel is expected to deliver even more advanced performance with BOE likely unveiling the display ahead of the phone’s official launch, similar to what it did with the X2.

OnePlus 15 – What Else We Know?

Previous leaks suggest the OnePlus 15 will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with an ultra-fast 165Hz refresh rate, surpassing the 120Hz panel on its predecessor. However, the resolution may drop from 2K to 1.5K this time around.

As for the hardware, the phone is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, coupled with a massive 7,000mAh battery. Charging speeds are also expected to impress, with support for 120W wired fast charging.

The OnePlus 15 is also said to receive notable design changes, giving it a refreshed look compared to previous models. While global pricing and release details remain unclear, the OnePlus 13 currently retails around $873 on Amazon, and the upcoming model is expected to stay in a similar price range.

For more concrete updates, we will have to wait till October for the flagship phone’s official launch.

FAQs

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series may still be months away from launch, which will most likely be in January or February next year. But design leaks have already started making rounds online. The latest leak offers the first look at what could be the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, sparking conversations about Samsung’s next flagship lineup. Here’s more on the latest leaks.

Tech reviewer Sonny Dickson shared an image on X (Formerly Twitter), showing dummy units of the Galaxy S26 series. The largest of the three devices is easy to recognise as the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The left unit appears to be the standard Galaxy S26 or Galaxy S26 Pro as some rumours suggest. Meanwhile, the middle one is believed to be the Galaxy S26 Edge.

One of the most noticeable changes comes with the Galaxy S26 Edge, which seems to adopt a horizontal camera bar that stretches across the back panel. This marks a departure from Samsung’s traditional separate lens design and closely resembles what’s rumoured for the Apple iPhone 17 series.

The lenses remain vertically aligned, accompanied by an LED flash in its usual spot.

According to leaker Ice Universe, the new camera bar may also house additional internal components. This design change could allow Samsung to fit a larger 4,200mAh battery (up from 3,900mAh) and slim down the device’s thickness from 5.8mm to 5.5mm.

All three dummy units showcase slightly squared-off corners and a circular indentation on the rear panel. The indentation could signal support for Qi2 wireless charging with magnetic alignment, a feature already introduced with the Google Pixel 10 series.

Galaxy S26 Series – Launch Timeline

The Galaxy S26 lineup is still expected to debut in early 2026, giving Samsung plenty of time to refine the design before the official release. For now, these leaks should be taken with caution until confirmed by the company.
