This confirms support for satellite messaging via the BeiDou system, a milestone that isn’t just a first for the Note series, but for Redmi as a whole. Even the higher-end K and K Ultra lineups haven’t yet adopted satellite features.

Meta Revives Smartwatch Project with New Manufacturer and Possible Camera Features: Report

Some readers who follow the tech rumour mill closely would remember that there were several reports a few years ago suggesting Meta was working on a smartwatch. However, the project was reportedly shelved sometime around 2022. Now, a fresh report indicates that Meta is back in the game and may soon launch its own smartwatch. Here’s what we know so far.

Meta’s Smartwatch Plans Are Back on Track

According to a DigiTimes report via @Jukalosreve on X (formerly Twitter), Meta has secured a new manufacturing partner for its upcoming smartwatch.

As per the report, Meta is pushing forward with the development of its first smartwatch. The company has chosen Chinese firm Huaqin as its primary manufacturing partner. Huaqin is helping Meta revive the project, which is rumoured to include a built-in camera, something earlier leaks had also pointed to. The wearable is also expected to complement Meta’s upcoming AI-powered glasses.

Meta will be hosting its annual Meta Connect conference on September 17–18 in the US and it’s possible the company might introduce the smartwatch at the event. That said, the DigiTimes report isn’t entirely clear on the timing.

While the introduction suggests Meta may unveil the smartwatch at Meta Connect, it later clarifies, “It’s unclear if the smartwatch will debut at the upcoming Meta Connect event.”

A Smartwatch with Cameras and AI Capabilities?

Huaqin, Meta’s new manufacturing partner, is among the world’s leading Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs). According to its official website, the company has experience producing smartwatches and smart bands. It has previously worked with major brands like Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi, which suggests Meta is teaming up with a proven player in the wearables space.

Leaks about Meta’s earlier prototype codenamed Milan revealed a design similar to the Fitbit Versa. That prototype featured two cameras, one on the front and one on the back of the watch body.

Interestingly, the watch case could be detached from the strap, making it easier to use the rear camera. This design hints that Meta could be planning to bring camera-equipped smartwatches to market.

A built-in camera could not only set Meta’s smartwatch apart from competitors like Apple, Samsung, and Garmin but also enable advanced AI features. While details about the smartwatch remain scarce, more information is likely to surface as we get closer to a potential September launch.

FAQs

Q1. Who is Meta’s new manufacturing partner for its upcoming smartwatch?

Answer. Meta has chosen Chinese firm Huaqin as its primary manufacturing partner for the smartwatch project.

Q2. What features are expected in Meta’s smartwatch?

Answer. The wearable is rumoured to include a built-in camera and is expected to complement Meta’s upcoming AI-powered glasses.

Q3. When might Meta unveil its smartwatch?

Answer. Meta will host its annual Meta Connect conference on September 17–18, and it’s possible the company might introduce the smartwatch at the event. However, the report clarifies, “It’s unclear if the smartwatch will debut at the upcoming Meta Connect event.”

We already know that Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series this September, which means this is peak season for iPhone rumours. Based on recent leaks, it appears the upcoming iPhone Pro models could mark one of the biggest overhauls in recent years.

Key highlights may include a revamped body design, 8x optical zoom and the introduction of two physical camera control buttons. And adding to the lore, we might have just got our first live images of the iPhone 17 Pro model.

Alleged iPhone 17 Pro Spotted

image

Caption – Did we just catch the test development of the upcoming iPhone Pro out in the open? (Image credit –  @Skyfops on X)

What could be our first real-world glimpse of the iPhone 17 Pro has surfaced online. A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted images showing a man holding two iPhones, one of which is encased in a black cover and is believed to be the iPhone 17 Pro.

Although the original poster doesn’t have a history of leaking Apple products, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reshared the post, commenting, “This looks legit.” And there are some solid reasons to consider this might indeed be Apple’s next flagship.

The supposed iPhone 17 Pro features a broad, horizontal camera bar across the rear, a design detail that has appeared in multiple previous leaks. Based on reports, the left side of the bar could hold the triple camera lenses, while the right side may include a vertically arranged LED flash, LiDAR sensor and rear microphone.

The black case around the device also has cutouts that align with this layout, further supporting the rumour.

Adding to the intrigue, MacRumors observed that the second phone in the man’s hand resembles an iPhone 16 Pro with a sticker on the back. That sticker likely conceals a data matrix code Apple uses to track internal development units. If accurate, this suggests the person could be an Apple employee field-testing unreleased hardware.

However, since the original source isn’t a known Apple leaker, this sighting should be treated with caution.

New iPhone 17 Pro Camera Features Rumoured

Just a day before this spotting, three new iPhone 17 Pro camera features surfaced via an anonymous tip to MacRumors. The source, who claims to work at a video production company with Apple as a client, says the information is based on an upcoming promotional video for the iPhone 17 Pro.

According to the leak, the iPhone 17 Pro may feature –

  • A new, first-party Pro camera app developed by Apple
  • A second Camera Control button is located on the top edge
  • An upgraded telephoto lens offering 8x optical zoom, up from 5x

While the credibility of the source is unclear, the information aligns with Apple’s rumoured focus on professional camera features this year.

iPhone Pro Gearing To Be More ‘Pro’ Than Ever Before?

Traditionally, Apple’s ‘Pro’ branding was more to indicate “premium,” “more expensive,” or simply “better than non-Pro.” It wasn’t really “for professionals” as many people generally assume. This seems to be changing now.

The iPhone 17 Pro could lean even more heavily into its professional-grade identity this year. Previous reports have already hinted at multi-camera video recording as an exclusive feature. Other upgrades reportedly include a larger battery, at least on the Pro Max model, enhanced thermal management and potentially an anti-reflective display.

These upgrades will likely appeal to power users and content creators. On the other hand, they might not resonate with every user.

Apple’s rumoured iPhone 17 Air might hit a sweet spot for many. It’s expected to bring some Pro-level hardware like the A19 Pro chip and 12GB RAM, all packed into a sleek, ultra-thin new design that feels fresh and forward-looking.

FAQ

Q1. What new camera design is rumoured for the iPhone 17 Pro?

Q2. What professional camera features might the iPhone 17 Pro include?

Answer. Rumours suggest the iPhone 17 Pro may offer 8× optical zoom, a second physical camera control button on the top edge, and a new first-party Pro camera app developed by Apple.

Answer. The device may include multi-camera video recording, a larger battery (especially in the Pro Max), improved thermal management, and an anti-reflective display, targeting content creators and power users.

Oppo is gearing up to release the Oppo Reno 14 FS 5G and reports suggest it will be a slightly upgraded version of the Reno 14 F. While Oppo hasn’t confirmed anything officially, leaked renders, specifications and pricing details have already surfaced online. So, here’s what to expect from the upcoming device.

Oppo Reno 14 FS 5G – Expected Features

The Reno 14 FS 5G sticks to a slim and elegant profile. It features a 6.57-inch flat AMOLED display with a 2370 × 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Bezels are kept minimal and the back panel follows the Reno series’ signature style with a smooth and wavy finish.

At 158.2 x 75 x 7.76 mm and 181 grams, the phone remains lightweight despite its sizeable battery.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and a substantial 512GB internal storage. The phone runs Android 15 with ColorOS 15 on top.

One of the most notable features is the 6,000mAh battery, impressive for a phone this slim. It supports 45W fast charging, promising quick top-ups. Oppo’s typical battery optimisations in ColorOS usually pair well with large batteries, so light-to-moderate users can expect up to two days of usage.

The camera setup is familiar. On the rear, there’s a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor with OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro lens. The 32MP front camera should be more than adequate for selfies and video calls. While there’s no telephoto lens or cutting-edge AI camera tricks, the setup aims to deliver sharp daylight shots and stabilised video performance, good value for its expected price.

The Reno 14 FS 5G covers all standard connectivity needs including dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 5, USB Type-C and NFC.

It also includes an IP69-rated water and dust resistance, in-display fingerprint scanner, staying in line with Oppo’s focus on bringing premium features to the mid-range segment.

Oppo Reno 14 FS 5G – Price and Expected Launch

The leak suggests that the Reno 14 FS 5G could launch in Europe for around €450, positioning it as a direct competitor to phones like the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Nothing Phone (2a).

Colour options are said to include Green and White. While there’s no official launch date yet, the device is expected to debut in August, likely via an online release rather than a full-scale launch event.

Apple could be preparing for its most significant camera upgrade yet with the iPhone 17 Pro series. According to a leak shared with MacRumors by an anonymous source, the upcoming Pro models are set to introduce several advanced camera features.

The leak originates from someone claiming to have details about a commercial reportedly shot by Slovenian production house Division Film, which lists Apple among its clients. Here’s what we know.

iPhone 17 Pro Latest Leak

One of the key upgrades expected is a new telephoto lens with up to 8× optical zoom, a marked improvement over the 5× zoom currently available on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This enhancement would allow for significantly more flexibility when capturing distant subjects.

The upgraded telephoto lens is also rumoured to feature continuous zoom across various focal lengths, potentially bringing the iPhone’s zoom capabilities closer to those of a DSLR camera.

Apple may also debut a dedicated pro camera app, designed to provide users with more advanced photo and video tools. This app is expected to rival popular third-party apps like Halide and Filmic Pro, though it remains unclear if the app will be limited to the iPhone 17 Pro models or rolled out to older iPhones as well.

Back in February, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted Apple would shift its focus toward improved video recording features on the iPhone 17 Pro.

Gurman explained, “In past years, Apple has focused more heavily on the camera’s photo-taking abilities. This year it will stress improvements to video recording. One of the goals for 2025’s iPhone line is to get the vlogging community and other video creators to move away from standalone cameras and use the iPhone for even more of their work. Look for Apple to more heavily than ever tout these video recording capabilities when the new iPhones debut in September.

Echoing this video-centric shift, Jon Prosser from Front Page Tech claims the iPhone 17 Pro’s Camera app will let users record video using both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.

In line with this creator-first approach, Apple is also reportedly considering the addition of a second camera control button, this time located on the top edge of the phone. That said, this move seems unlikely given ongoing speculation that Apple is steering toward a button-less design. The original camera button, after all, didn’t receive overwhelmingly positive feedback.

While a new pro camera app is one possibility, the source also suggests Apple could instead deliver a major update to the existing Final Cut Camera app.

Outside of camera features, the leak mentions that the iPhone 17 Pro might come in a copper-like finish and could feature a centered Apple logo on the back panel, departing from the current off-centre design.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September. As for the leak, MacRumors report clarifies that it has not independently verified the information.
