Apple is getting ready to announce a major round of updates at WWDC this year, which kicks off on June 9. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this year’s event will bring major design changes, not just for iOS 19 but also for watchOS, tvOS, macOS 16 and even visionOS.

We already knew that iOS 19 for iPhone and iPad would feature a big visual refresh. Now it looks like Apple is planning to update the design across all its platforms, creating a more unified and modern look.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says that both the Apple Watch and Apple TV software will get significant redesigns. He also notes that visionOS will receive some UI “adjustments.”

This means Apple is aiming for one consistent design style across all its devices. Expect more transparency, glass-like effects, updated icons and changes to how you navigate inside apps.

Hints of this new look can already be seen in the WWDC 2025 artwork, which shows a shiny, reflective 3D icon of the Apple Park rainbow stage. That same translucent, glassy feel is expected to show up across Apple’s platforms.

While Apple Watch software has seen several updates over the years, Apple TV’s operating system tvOS hasn’t changed much since it launched in 2015. Right now, it still feels visually different from iOS. But that’s about to shift as Apple works to bring all its software into visual alignment. Gurman calls it the biggest OS redesign since iOS 7.

A lot of the upcoming changes are inspired by the sleek interface of visionOS, introduced last year with the Apple Vision Pro. Even so, Apple plans to fine-tune that UI as well to better fit this broader design push.

All these updates will be officially revealed in just two weeks. The WWDC 2025 keynote begins at 10 AM Pacific Time on June 9.

Apple’s Smart Home Hub with 7-Inch Display Could Launch by Year-End, Says Gurman

Highlights

  • Apple HomePod-style smart home hub with a 7-inch display could launch by the end of this year.
  • The device will reportedly include a built-in camera, rechargeable battery, a new homeOS operating system, FaceTime support, deep integration with Siri & HomeKit and full Apple Intelligence compatibility.

It has been reported multiple times in the last few months that Apple is working on a new smart home device for a while now. This all-new HomePod-style device is designed to be a central hub for smart homes and will feature a square 7-inch display, Apple Intelligence support and deep integration with Siri and HomeKit. In any case, a new report from one of the trusted Apple sources now confirms the expected launch timeline.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his recent newsletter, reports that we could see it hit the market before the year wraps up. This device might finally launch “by the end of this year” is what Gurman wrote to be precise.

The device was originally supposed to launch in the spring, but delays mainly around Apple’s AI efforts have pushed the timeline back.

Apple’s Smart Home Hub – Why Delay?

The delays reportedly stem from Apple’s earlier AI struggles. The new device was supposed to rely on improved Siri capabilities and App Intents, expected to be ready with iOS 18.4. But technical setbacks pushed things out. Apple has since confirmed that the new Siri features with Apple Intelligence will roll out “in the coming year.”

To help refine the product, Apple even launched an internal testing program earlier this year, allowing select employees to use the device at home.

Some earlier reports had suggested this smart hub might not arrive until 2026. So, if Apple manages to release it by the end of this year, it would be a big shift from those earlier expectations.

Apple’s Smart Home Hub – What to Expect?

Here’s a quick look at what’s rumoured so far –

  • A 7-inch square display with thick bezels
  • A camera positioned at the top
  • A built-in rechargeable battery
  • A new operating system called homeOS
  • FaceTime and other video-focused features
  • Support for a range of Apple apps
  • A dashboard similar to StandBy
  • Easy smart home control features
  • Full support for Apple Intelligence

Another Smart Home Product in the Works

According to Gurman, Apple is also working on a second smart home device, a more advanced display with a robotic arm and a “unique AI personality.” This one is said to be a “major priority at Apple” but is expected to launch a “year or two later.”

To meet that timeline, Apple has apparently “pulled some bolder features” from the robotic version. Gurman says these may return in future hardware upgrades, though no further details are available for now.

FAQs

Q1. When will Apple’s Smart Home Hub launch?

Answer. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that we could see it hit the market “by the end of this year.” Initially, it was supposed to launch in spring 2025, but AI-related setbacks delayed the release.

Q2. What features can we expect in Apple’s Smart Home Hub?

Answer. The device is rumoured to have a 7-inch square display, a built-in camera, rechargeable battery, a new homeOS operating system, FaceTime support, deep integration with Siri & HomeKit, and full Apple Intelligence compatibility.

Q3. Is Apple working on another smart home device?

Answer. Yes, Apple is also developing a more advanced display with a robotic arm and an AI personality, described as a “major priority.” It is expected to launch a year or two after the smart hub’s release.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Core Leak Reveals Bigger Battery and Possible Redesign

  • The Samsung Galaxy Buds Core is rumoured to feature a 100mAh battery in each earbud and a 500mAh charging case.
  • Speculation suggests a stem-style design similar to the upcoming Buds 3 lineup along with improvements to ANC and Ambient Mode.

Samsung seems ready to refresh its budget TWS lineup with the new Galaxy Buds Core. As per reports, this will most likely replace the Galaxy Buds FE that launched in 2023 for around $100. Leaked info hints at a major upgrade, especially in battery capacity. Here’s what we know.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Core – Big Battery Upgrade (Leak)

According to a leak from @TheGalox_ on X (formerly Twitter), each Buds Core earbud will pack a 100mAh battery, while the charging case will come with a 500mAh battery.

If true, that will be a 66% jump in earbud battery capacity compared to the Buds FE’s 60mAh, and a slight increase over the 479mAh case on the FE.

This could mean significantly longer battery life. The Buds FE already offers 6 hours of playback with ANC on and 21 hours with the case. With bigger batteries and possibly a newer chipset, the Buds Core might even beat that and could get close to what the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offers with its 515mAh case and 48mAh buds.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Core – Rumours

There’s also talk that the Buds Core might feature a stem-style design similar to the upcoming Buds 3 lineup. Along with this, you can expect upgrades like better Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and improved Ambient Mode.

The Galaxy Buds Core (model SM-R410) has already appeared on Samsung’s support pages and received certifications like BIS and Nemko, pointing to an upcoming launch, possibly at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025.

With BIS certification confirming an India launch, a global release also seems likely. If the leaked battery specs and design updates are accurate, the Galaxy Buds Core might shape up to be a strong budget option for Galaxy users. More leaks and official images are expected soon as the launch approaches.

FAQs

Q1. What battery capacity does the Samsung Galaxy Buds Core offer?

Answer. Each Buds Core earbud reportedly features a 100mAh battery, while the charging case comes with a 500mAh battery, marking a significant upgrade over the Buds FE.

Q2. Will the Galaxy Buds Core have a new design?

Answer. Leaks suggest the Buds Core may adopt a stem-style design similar to the upcoming Buds 3 lineup, along with improvements to Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Ambient Mode.

Q3. When is the expected launch of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Core?

Answer. The Galaxy Buds Core has appeared on Samsung’s support pages and received certifications, indicating a potential launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025.

Xiaomi is back on top of the global wearable band market, beating Apple to become the number one vendor in Q1 2025, according to new data from Canalys.

The research firm says Xiaomi’s stronger and more refined ecosystem helped it reclaim the lead it last held in mid-2021. In contrast, Apple’s wearable strategy is starting to feel outdated.

Canalys reports that the overall wearable band market is bouncing back. Shipments grew 13% year-over-year to hit 46.6 million units in Q1 2025. Most of this growth came from basic wearables, which are more popular in emerging markets, where Xiaomi has a strong presence.

Noting this, Canalys Analyst Jack Leathem said, “Xiaomi has upgraded its Mi Band and Redmi Watch series with refreshed designs and advanced data capabilities, bringing comprehensive features down the price segments, boosting its value proposition. Its growth has also been supported by effective multi-category coordination and competitive pricing, particularly in emerging economies. (…) Samsung has also increased its focus on its basic bands to grow its presence in emerging economies.”

Xiaomi shipped 8.7 million units in the quarter, marking a 44% increase from the same time last year. A big driver was the Redmi Band 5, but Canalys credits the brand’s wider success to its HyperOS platform, which links phones, wearables, and smart home devices.

Apple, on the other hand, had a relatively quiet quarter. It shipped 7.6 million units, a 5% increase taking a 16% market share compared to Xiaomi’s 19%. These figures match up with recent findings from Counterpoint, which noted that the Apple Watch has been on a global decline for the past two years.

The report reads, “With 2025 marking the Apple Watch’s tenth anniversary, Apple is expected to regain momentum in the second half of the year with a big portfolio update, leaning on its mature and tightly integrated health-focused ecosystem.”

Huawei held onto third place with 7.1 million units sold, boosted by its GT and Fit series and the expanding reach of the Huawei Health app.

Samsung came in fourth but posted the highest growth among the top five, up 74% to 4.9 million units. The company focused on both affordable bands for emerging markets and premium smartwatches for other regions.

Garmin took fifth place with 1.8 million units shipped, marking a 10% year-over-year growth.
