An audio romance & friend discovery startup FRND has raised $6.5 million in Series A funding round led by South Korean gaming giant Krafton, the makers of the phenomenally popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). This Series A round also saw participation from the company’s previous investors India Quotient and Elevation Capital.

FRND is founded by three IIT Kanpur alumni – Bhanu Pratap Singh Tanwar, Hardik Bansal and Harshvardhan Chhangani. It is a first-of-its-kind dating app developed for the next billion users. It allows youngsters to connect with each other through live-streamed formats like FRND dating and audio games like Raja Rani Chor Police, Voice Match and other casual games, with focus on creating 1-on-1 connections. Users can connect via audio in a pseudo-anonymous manner and start conversations through a matchmaker. The matchmaker-led game and chat rooms on the platforms come with certain moderation systems that allow boys and girls to connect and have safe yet engaging conversations.

Vivo Y32 has unveiled in China. The device comes as a successor to the Vivo Y31, which was launched at the start of the year in India. OxygenOS 12 rollout starts again for OnePlus 9 series

OnePlus has restarted the rollout of OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 series. The tournament will qualify South Asian teams for the Split 1 Asia Pacific (APAC) Challenger Playoffs in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2022. Registrations for the much-awaited event will begin from January 6, 2022.

The tournament, which was first launched in June this year, already tops the list of ‘must-attend’ events for South Asian Valorant esports players and teams as it gives them the opportunity to hit the international esports scene. South Asia has emerged as the growing hub of Valorant with several top teams Velocity Gaming, Global Esports Enigma Gaming and Team Exploit making their mark in the region.

Government of India’s Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, IIT Madras and MapmyIndia today signed an MoU for collaboration on driver and road safety technologies, and jointly launched India’s best and Free-to-Use navigation app service for all 130+ crore Indians.

The MapmyIndia app, enhanced with the support of MoRTH and IIT Madras, provides road safety alerts to users about upcoming accident hazards while driving. By using this navigation app, users will get voice and visual alerts about upcoming accident-prone zones, speed breakers, sharp curves, potholes etc., to ensure they can drive carefully and avoid accidents. Further through the app, users and authorities can also report and broadcast accidents, unsafe areas, road and traffic issues on the map to help benefit other users, which will be analysed by IIT Madras and MapmyIndia and will then be used by the Government of India to improve road conditions in future.
