YouTube is rolling out wider access to its experimental AI-powered search results carousel for more Premium subscribers, though the feature remains limited to users in the United States.

Google first introduced the AI-powered search carousel for YouTube Premium members in the US back in June. According to YouTube’s New Features page for Premium users, the feature is now available on both iOS and Android until August 20, after which the company may consider a broader release.

How Does AI-Powered Search Work on YouTube?

image

According to reports, the AI-powered search results carousel helps users discover content more quickly by appearing at the top of certain search results. For certain queries such as those related to shopping, travel, or local activities, the carousel displays a row of relevant videos paired with brief AI-generated topic descriptions.

For example, if you are searching for “Best Restaurants in Tokyo”, the results could show a curated list of videos with quick summaries. This would allow viewers to jump straight to relevant content without browsing the entire results page.

As of now, the experimental feature is exclusive to the YouTube mobile app, supports only English-language videos, and doesn’t appear for all searches. Premium users interested in trying it can opt in via this page. For now, it works only in the United States, but if testing proves successful, YouTube may expand the AI-powered discovery tool to more regions after the trial wraps up later this month.

YouTube has been experimenting with AI-powered search as it explains on the support page, “YouTube is experimenting with an AI-powered carousel of results to enhance video discovery when searching on YouTube. For certain categorical, information-seeking queries, users may see an AI-powered carousel of videos, concise topic descriptions, and other relevant information that directs viewers to specific segments of YouTube videos when they look up certain queries.”

FAQs

Q1. Who can access YouTube’s AI-powered search carousel?

Answer. The AI-powered search carousel is currently available to YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States using the mobile app on iOS or Android. Access is part of an experimental rollout ending August 20.

Q2. What does the AI-powered search carousel do?

Answer. It displays a row of relevant videos at the top of certain search results like shopping, travel, or local activities along with brief AI-generated topic descriptions to help users find content faster.

Q3. Will this feature be available globally?

Answer. Not yet. The feature is limited to English-language videos and U.S. users for now. YouTube may expand it to other regions if the trial proves successful after August 20.

Apple’s Next-Gen Siri with App Intents Now Expected in Spring 2026: Gurman

0

Highlights

  • Apple’s revamped Siri with App Intents features is now expected to launch in spring 2026 with iOS 26.4.
  • The update aims to enable Siri to perform real actions inside apps, but Apple is cautious about reliability in sensitive areas like health and banking.
  • Apple is testing the feature with select partners like Uber, Amazon, and WhatsApp.
  • App Intents will roll out gradually.

Apple’s long-awaited Siri overhaul and new App Intents feature designed to let Siri perform actions inside apps. Now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is now targeting a spring 2026 release. Initially set for launch during the iOS 18 cycle, both features faced engineering setbacks and are now expected to arrive with around iOS 26.4.

The updated Siri is meant to go beyond basic responses, enabling real actions in apps through App Intents. However, Gurman notes internal concerns remain, especially around ensuring the system works with enough apps and is reliable in sensitive areas like health and banking.

Gurman writes, “The plan now is to ship the feature alongside a broader Siri infrastructure overhaul in the spring and market it heavily. But there’s some concern inside the company, I’m told. Engineers have been struggling to ensure that the system works with a sufficient number of apps and is accurate enough to handle high-stakes scenarios. There are worries about the software failing in categories where precision is nonnegotiable, like in health or banking apps.”

Apple is working with select companies to test the system ahead of launch, and App Intents won’t be universally available at first. The company is even considering “sharply limiting what Siri can do — or excluding those areas altogether” for sensitive categories. Developers will get a short preparation window via Apple’s beta program.

Current developer documentation states, “Siri’s personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, and in-app actions are in development and will be available with a future software update.”

Some apps already have a head start. According to Gurman, Apple is collaborating with Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp, as well as testing with a few games and Apple’s own apps.

Originally announced at WWDC 2024, the overhaul has been delayed partly due to Apple’s challenge in blending new large language models with legacy Siri components. Given Siri’s already weak reputation in the AI space, Apple has much riding on delivering this upgrade without critical mistakes.

FAQs

Q1. When is Apple’s next-gen Siri with App Intents expected to launch?

Answer. Apple is now targeting a spring 2026 release. Initially set for launch during the iOS 18 cycle, both features faced engineering setbacks and are now expected to arrive with around iOS 26.4.

Q2. What concerns does Apple have about the new Siri system?

Answer. Engineers have been struggling to ensure that the system works with a sufficient number of apps and is accurate enough to handle high-stakes scenarios. There are worries about the software failing in categories where precision is nonnegotiable, like in health or banking apps.

Q3. Which companies is Apple working with to test App Intents?

Answer. Apple is collaborating with Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp, as well as testing with a few games and Apple’s own apps.

Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro Overhaul Could Be Delayed to 2027: Gurman

0

Highlights

  • Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro with M6 chip and thinner design may be delayed to early 2027.
  • The M5 MacBook Pro is now expected in spring 2026, pushing the M6 OLED models further.
  • The M6 MacBook Pro is set to offer an OLED display, a sleeker build and a smaller notch.
image

Apple’s much-anticipated MacBook Pro redesigned with an OLED display was previously rumoured for late 2026. However, now we are hearing it might not arrive until early 2027. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, the overhaul will still include a thinner design, an M6 chip and an OLED screen, but its launch could be later than expected.

Explaining the same in the report, Gurman writes, “It means I need to see something entirely new if I’m going to get excited about upgrading. And that’s where the revamped MacBook Pro with an OLED screen comes into play. It’s arriving between the end of 2026 and early 2027 and should boast the M6 chip. That Mac represents enough of a change to finally move the needle.”

The earlier roadmap suggested a minor MacBook Pro refresh with the M5 chip at the end of 2025, followed by a full redesign with the M6 chip and OLED in 2026. However, with the M5 MacBook Pro now delayed to spring 2026, the M6 OLED version might also shift, potentially to early 2027.

Last month, Gurman noted that Apple was considering pushing the M5 MacBook Pro release to 2026, which could explain why the OLED M6 models may also be postponed.

There is precedent for multiple MacBook Pro updates within the same year. Apple launched M2 Pro and M2 Max models in January 2023, then followed with M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max models in October 2023. If Apple follows that pattern, the M5 lineup could debut in January 2026 with M6 models arriving in October 2026.

In any case, if you can wait, it may be worth skipping the M5 generation altogether. The M6 MacBook Pro models are expected to bring more substantial upgrades, including OLED displays, a sleeker build, and a smaller notch. Just be prepared for the possibility that these changes might not arrive until early 2027.

FAQs

Q1. When is Apple expected to launch the OLED MacBook Pro?

Answer. The OLED MacBook Pro, originally rumoured for late 2026, is now expected to launch in early 2027 due to delays in Apple’s chip roadmap.

Q2. What upgrades will the M6 MacBook Pro offer over previous models?

Answer. The M6 MacBook Pro is anticipated to feature a thinner design, OLED display, a smaller notch, and Apple’s next-gen M6 chip, marking a significant overhaul compared to the M5 generation.

Q3. Should I wait for the M6 MacBook Pro or buy the M5 version?

Answer. If you can wait, skipping the M5 generation may be worthwhile. The M6 models are expected to deliver more substantial upgrades, though they might not arrive until 2027.

Huawei Mate 80 RS Leak Hints at Dual-Layer OLED Display and Titanium Alloy Frame

0

Highlights

  • The Mate 80 RS is rumoured to feature a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display and a 50MP main camera.
  • It may include a titanium alloy middle frame and ceramic-textured glass back, enhancing durability and a lightweight feel.
  • The Mate 80 lineup is likely to launch in October 2025.

It is no surprise that Huawei often releases a premium RS variant alongside the standard and Pro models of its flagship devices. Following the same strategy, the Huawei Mate 80 RS is most likely on its way as a sub-variant of the upcoming flagship lineup. If there was any uncertainty about that, a new leak has released some key details about the phone almost confirming the model. Here’s what we know so far.

Huawei Mate 80 RS – Key Specs (Rumoured)

Famous Weibo tipster named Digital Chat Station has now revealed key details about this special edition device.

image
Digital Chat Station’s Weibo post. (Translate via Google Translate)

According to DCS’s post, the Mate 80 RS is tipped to feature a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display, the same advanced screen technology first introduced on last year’s Mate 70 RS. Dual-layer OLED stacks two light-emitting layers, delivering higher brightness, lower power consumption, and improved longevity compared to conventional single-layer OLED panels.

However, the technology is costly to produce, with even Apple reportedly exploring it for future iPhones.

Premium materials will be another highlight. The engineering prototype is said to use a titanium alloy middle frame, building on last year’s high-gloss titanium basalt design for enhanced durability. On the back, Huawei is reportedly opting for a ceramic texture finish, a special type of glass that mimics the smooth, jade-like feel of ceramic while being lighter.

Hardware-wise, the Mate 80 RS is expected to share much of its DNA with the Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro+, including a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, similar in size to the one on Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro. While smaller than the 1-inch sensor on Huawei’s Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra, it’s built on a 22nm process and features 1.2μm pixel size.

Reports suggest the Huawei Mate 80 series is all set to debut in October 2025.

FAQs

Q1. What is unique about the Huawei Mate 80 RS’s display?

Answer. The Mate 80 RS is rumoured to feature a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display, which stacks two light-emitting layers to deliver higher brightness, lower power consumption, and improved longevity compared to traditional single-layer OLED panels.

Q2. What materials are used in the Huawei Mate 80 RS’s design?

Answer. The engineering prototype reportedly uses a titanium alloy middle frame for enhanced durability and a ceramic-textured glass back that mimics the smooth, jade-like feel of ceramic while being lighter.

Q3. When is the Huawei Mate 80 RS expected to launch?

Answer. The Huawei Mate 80 RS, along with the rest of the Mate 80 series, is expected to debut in October 2025.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL has surfaced online in a major leak just weeks before Google’s next major hardware event. It is giving us the most detailed look yet at the flagship’s design.

Shared by WinFuture, the promo images showcase the Pixel 10 Pro XL in two colour options, which are Moonstone and Obsidian. The design stays close to last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL and the smaller Pixel 10 Pro, retaining the pill-shaped triple-camera bar with its flash and temperature sensor. It features a polished aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protecting both the front and back. On the right side are the power and volume buttons, now with a glossy finish to complement its premium build.

It features a 6.8-inch OLED display, which is most likely supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and reaching a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. This is a notable improvement for outdoor viewing. While the leak doesn’t confirm internal changes, it reaffirms Google’s sleek, refined design approach.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is expected to run on the new Tensor G5 processor, offering improved performance, efficiency, and enhanced Gemini AI capabilities. Camera hardware remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, which was a 50MP (1/1.31″) main sensor, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto (1/2.55″) setup. But it comes with software refinements aimed at better low-light results.

Battery capacity has increased slightly to 5,200mAh (from 5,060mAh), alongside 30W wired charging support. With most of the hardware now revealed, the remaining surprises may lie in Google’s software and AI upgrades still under wraps.
