Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will continue to feature a dual-camera system on the back.

They will have a primary wide camera offering 1X and 2X zoom, and a secondary ultra-wide camera for .5X zoom.

A notable change, however, is in the design.

With the iPhone 16, we are getting a vertical alignment of the camera modules.

This is a clear departure from the previous diagonal arrangement.

The primary camera will remain a 48MP sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and 2X optical telephoto capability, just as in previous models.

However, the ultra-wide camera will receive a significant upgrade with a faster f/2.2 aperture, improving performance in low-light conditions.

Additionally, these non-Pro models are expected to support macro photography for the first time.

The primary sensor remains unchanged at 48MP with an f/1.78 aperture, capable of delivering 2X optical-quality 12MP telephoto shots with 1.22-micrometer pixels.

A major enhancement for this year’s Pro models is the introduction of a 5X telephoto lens, previously exclusive to the Pro Max model.

This lens will replace the 3X telephoto lens found in the iPhone 15 Pro and will feature a 12MP resolution with an f/2.8 aperture.

MacRumors recently reported, “The iPhone 16 Pro Max could feature a super telephoto periscope camera for a dramatically increased optical zoom. The information comes from a Weibo account that has provided accurate information in the past, but it has not yet been backed up by a second reliable source.”

The ultra-wide lens on the Pro models will also see a substantial upgrade, increasing to 48MP and featuring pixel-binning technology similar to the primary camera.

It will offer .7 micrometre pixels at full resolution or 1.4-micrometer pixels in quad-pixel mode.

Users will be able to capture 48MP ProRaw photos with this upgraded lens, providing greater flexibility in post-processing.

First of all, remember that this is an opt-in feature where users have to permit the app to cross-post.

It requires users to toggle on the Threads sharing button when posting an image.

New iOS Bug Reported: Typing These Four Characters Crashes iPhone

A security researcher recently uncovered a peculiar bug in iOS.

User Konstantin @kpwn@infosec.exchange on Mastodon revealed iPhones and iPads crash when a specific set of characters is typed in certain search bars.

However, the user gave credit for the update to a certain “bird app.”

Mastodon user posted, “Apparently, you can crash your iPhone Springboard pretty easily: On your iPhone, swipe left past all your Home Screen pages to get to App Library. Then search for “”:: Do at your own risk.”

The issue occurs when you swipe to the App Library and type “”:: into the search bar at the top of the screen.

This action causes SpringBoard, the built-in Home Screen manager to crash.

Interestingly, the bug isn’t limited to the exact character combination of “”::.

According to other users commenting on the Mastodon researcher’s post, the crash can occur as long as the sequence starts with “”:, with any fourth character triggering the crash.

In a separate report, Online Tech News Publication TechCrunch also reported and confirmed that the same issue can also be found in the Settings app.

If you scroll up and type these characters into the search bar there, the app crashes in a similar way.

Fortunately, this bug doesn’t pose any security risks as per what iOS security researcher.

Ryan Stortz, an iOS security researcher, confirmed to TechCrunch that this isn’t a security bug.

Meanwhile, there’s no evidence that this bug can be triggered remotely on someone else’s device.

We do not have any official response from Apple on this particular bug yet.

The “Effective Power” bug in 2015 caused the Messages app to crash and iPhones to reboot when a particular text was received.

This was a more serious problem as someone else could send you the message and repeatedly crash your iPhone.
