HTech founder Madhav Sheth has just announced that Alcatel smartphones are officially on their way to India. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his excitement about the launch and revealed a collaboration with the Nxtcell team to make it happen.

According to Sheth, this partnership isn’t just about launching new phones, it’s about bringing advanced tech to India, encouraging patent-based innovation, and supporting local manufacturing. He emphasised that the goal is to align with India’s push for tech self-reliance, a growing priority in the country’s mobile industry.

Sheth added that the technology agreements are already in place, and the focus is now on local production. This could also open the door for exports and help strengthen India’s position in the global tech space.

“We have successfully signed technology agreements, and our local manufacturing initiatives are poised to significantly boost India’s tech ecosystem and enhance exports,” Sheth wrote in his post.

We’re still waiting for details on the Alcatel models, launch dates, and sales strategy, but those updates are expected soon. Earlier this month, Alcatel also announced a partnership with Flipkart, confirming that the phones will be available on the platform and even via Flipkart’s quick delivery service, FK Minutes.

HONOR Set to Launch 5 New Products in India

That’s not the only announcement Sheth, who is also the CEO and co-founder of HTech, made. He also announced that HONOR has received approvals to launch five new products in India. He didn’t share any product names just yet, but fans are already speculating.

Earlier this year, HONOR teased the launch of the HONOR X9c in India, though the product page was later removed from Amazon. With HONOR 400 Lite now available globally, it could be one of the five products coming to India. We might also see the HONOR 400 and HONOR 400 Pro, both of which are expected to launch internationally later this year.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that some HTech employees from realme have recently left the company, adding another layer of curiosity around the upcoming product launches.

GTA 6 Much-Anticipated Second Trailer In May? Fans Hope for Big Reveal Soon

0

Highlights

  • Fans speculate that Rockstar Games may drop a second GTA 6 trailer or new screenshots around May 15, 2025.
  • With major game launches in August and September, GTA 6 could target November 2025.
  • Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addresses potential tariff issues, raising concerns that GTA 6’s price could exceed the debated $70 mark.

It’s been quite a long time since Rockstar Games released the record-breaking trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI and fans have been vocally losing patience. Since the teaser dropped back in December 2023, there haven’t been any big updates. All we have got are inaccurate leaks, false rumours and lots of fan theories. Not to swell hopes, but there’s a good chance that could change soon.

New Trailer In May 2025?

Right now, the only official info we have is that GTA 6 is set to launch in Fall 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S. Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, held a financial earnings call in February, and their next one is scheduled for May 15, 2025. This has fans speculating that we might get some fresh GTA 6 news on that date.

There’s also buzz about a second trailer dropping around that time or at the very least, some new screenshots. On X (formerly Twitter), fans are speculating that Rockstar will wait until after the May 15 earnings call to release anything new.

According to X user @GameRollGTA, Borderlands 4 is expected to get its own State of Play, and the next Mafia game is rumoured to have a showcase on May 8. If those titles are getting major updates, many believe Rockstar will give GTA 6 a similar spotlight soon after.

There’s also some chatter about the overall release timeline. One report suggested that Mafia: The Old Country could launch in August, while Borderlands 4 and NBA 2K26 may drop in September. Since August and September are already crowded, fans think Rockstar might go for a November 2025 release for GTA 6 to avoid competition and maximize sales.

In the meantime, it seems fans are rewatching the original GTA 6 trailer, which now has over 250 million views and more than one million comments on YouTube.

Here’s the trailer, if you haven’t seen it already –

Take-Two CEO On Tariffs and Game Pricing

While Rockstar keeps things quiet, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick did speak up about a few important things like pricing and international trade concerns.

In an interview with GamesIndustry, Zelnick talked about tariffs and whether they could push the price of GTA 6 even higher than the already-debated $70 mark. “Like everyone else in business, I’m somewhat concerned about the possibility of trade wars,” Zelnick said.

“But I’m encouraged that we seem to be avoiding those with Mexico and Canada through discussion and negotiation, and I’m cautiously optimistic that that will lead to a good result,” he added.

He also mentioned the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), saying the gaming industry is working with policymakers to avoid trade issues. Some are hopeful the industry will get the same kind of support Apple has received in similar situations.

FAQs

Q1. When is the second GTA 6 trailer expected to release?

Answer. Fans speculate that Rockstar might drop a second trailer or new screenshots around May 15, 2025, following Take-Two’s earnings call.

Q2. When will GTA 6 be officially released?

Answer. GTA 6 is set to launch in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. Some believe Rockstar may opt for November 2025 to maximise sales.

Q3. Could GTA 6’s price be higher than expected?

Answer. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick raised concerns that tariffs could push GTA 6’s price beyond $70, though negotiations may help avoid trade-related price increases.

Instagram Launches ‘Edits’ Video App, Former CEO Testifies Zuckerberg Saw Instagram as a “Threat”

0

Highlights

  • Instagram Launches ‘Edits’ App as the new video editing tool designed to rival TikTok’s CapCut.
  • The new app features AI-powered effects, advanced editing features, Reels-friendly options, integration with Instagram’s music library and watermark-free exports.
  • Ex-Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom says that Zuckerberg saw Instagram as a threat to Facebook’s growth.

Instagram is officially rolling out its new video editing app called Edits, which is meant to compete with TikTok’s popular editing tool, CapCut.

Meta first teased the app earlier this year, just as TikTok and other ByteDance apps were temporarily removed from Apple and Google’s app stores. Now, as questions around TikTok’s future continue, Meta is pushing ahead and hoping to attract more creators to its platforms with this new tool.

You can now download Edits from both the App Store and Google Play.

The app offers much more advanced editing features than what Instagram has had so far. With the in-app camera, creators can record up to 10 minutes of video in “enhanced quality.” It also includes fan-favourite effects like green screen, plus access to Instagram’s massive music library.

And since AI is a big part of Meta’s current strategy, Edits comes with some AI-powered tools too. The “animate” feature turns still photos into short videos, and “cutouts” lets you isolate people or objects with detailed tracking.

One major plus over CapCut is that Edits doesn’t add a watermark to exported videos, something Instagram avoids since watermarked videos often get downranked on the platform.

Even though CapCut is already back online in the U.S., Meta is making Edits more Instagram-friendly to draw in Reels creators. That includes in-app analytics for posts and the option to use audio tracks saved in Instagram.

And this is just the beginning. Meta says Edits is “the first step,” and that it plans to work closely with creators to build even more features in the future.

Ex-Instagram CEO Says Zuckerberg Thought Instagram Was a “Threat”

In other Instagram news, the company’s former CEO and Co-founder Kevin Systrom testified this week in Meta’s ongoing antitrust trial. His testimony gave an inside look at the rocky relationship between Instagram and Facebook after Meta (then Facebook) bought Instagram in 2012 for $1 billion.

Systrom, who led Instagram until 2018, said that Mark Zuckerberg saw the photo-sharing app as a direct competitor. “He believed we were a threat to their growth,Systrom testified, and added that Zuckerberg wasn’t investing enough in Instagram, even as it grew rapidly.

According to The New York Times, Systrom said Instagram had far fewer employees than Facebook, even after hitting 1 billion users. He also noted that Zuckerberg felt strongly about whether Instagram might be seen as better than Facebook, saying, “As the founder of Facebook, he felt a lot of emotion around which one was better, meaning Instagram or Facebook.”

While past reports have covered tension between Instagram’s founders and Zuckerberg, this is the first time Systrom has spoken publicly and in detail. He said those tensions were part of what led him to leave the company, and claimed Zuckerberg thought Instagram was “hurting Facebook’s growth,” according to Bloomberg.

FAQs

Q1. What is Instagram’s new Edits app, and how does it compare to CapCut?

Answer. Instagram’s Edits app is a video editing tool designed to compete with TikTok’s CapCut. It offers AI-powered effects, watermark-free exports, and better integration with Instagram’s platform, making it appealing for Reels creators.

Q2. Why did Meta launch Edits now?

Answer. Meta introduced Edits as TikTok and other ByteDance apps faced temporary removal from app stores. With TikTok’s uncertain future, Meta aims to attract more creators by offering advanced editing features.

Q3. What did former Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom say about Zuckerberg?

Answer. Systrom testified that Mark Zuckerberg saw Instagram as a “threat” to Facebook’s growth and wasn’t investing enough in it. He also noted that tensions with Zuckerberg contributed to his decision to leave the company.

iPhone 17 Air Hands-On Video Shows Ultra-Thin Design, iPhone 17e Heads Toward Production

0

Highlights

  • iPhone 17 Air appears in a new hands-on video revealing its strikingly slim profile at just 5.65mm thick.
  • It sparks concerns about durability but impresses with its futuristic feel.
  • A trusted leaker confirms that Apple is already working on the budget-friendly iPhone 17e.
  • It confirms that production lines are being set up and that trial production is nearing completion.

Months away from any word becoming official, we are flooded with reports, rumours and speculations around the next iPhone series. The iPhone 17 Series has repeatedly maintained its presence in tech headlines, as recent news has been about the slimmest and entry-level iPhones. Here’s what we know.

iPhone 17 Air Hands-On Video

A new video gives us a closer look at the iPhone 17 Air and it’s turning heads especially when you see just how thin it is.

We’ve known the dimensions for a while, but seeing someone actually hold the iPhone 17 Air dummy model is a whole different story. In a new video from Unbox Therapy, Lew Hilsenteger gets hands-on with the full lineup of iPhone 17 dummy models and the standout is clearly the Air.

As soon as Lew picks it up, he reacts with surprise, saying, “That feels futuristic.”

image

He also expresses concern about how thin it is and whether it might bend too easily. Using a caliper, he measures it on camera and finds that the thinnest point is just 5.65mm. That’s a big drop from the 8.75mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro Max model, which he also shows. “It feels like half. It’s not half, but it feels like half,” he confirms.

Although concerns about bending remain, Lew admits that once people get a feel for the iPhone 17 Air, they might not be interested in Apple’s other models anymore.

iPhone 17e Already in the Works, Says Leaker

image

Meanwhile, a trusted leaker has shared some updates on Apple’s more affordable model i.e. the iPhone 17e.

Apple previously used the “SE” name for its budget phones, which gave them the freedom to release updates whenever they wanted. That’s why the first SE came out in 2016, the second in 2020, and the third in 2022. But when Apple switched to the iPhone 16e name, it seemed like they were moving to a yearly update cycle.

Back in February, a leaker known as Fixed Focus Digital said that it was exactly the plan.

Now, that same leaker is back with more news that confirms that Apple is already working on the iPhone 17e. According to the source, “A source shared a little information: ‘e model’ is likely to be available in the next generation. At present, a new project code has been seen, which is suspected to be 17e.”

The source adds that Apple is currently setting up the production line for the 17e and it’s almost ready for trial production. “The setup of the 17e production line is being planned. This answers the question: There will be a 17e next year, and now it is almost in the trial production stage,” the source adds.

The term “Trial production” here is the stage when Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn creates a small-scale version of the full production line. It is also sometimes known as the “new product introduction. They use this phase to spot and fix any problems and to look for ways to make the process smoother before full-scale production begins.

In its recent report, 9to5Mac notes, “First, Apple has in the past kept older iPhone models on sale as more affordable options, so the company clearly isn’t afraid to have ‘outdated’ model numbers in its line-up. The launch of an iPhone 17e doesn’t necessarily imply a new model every year. Second, Apple experiments with non-core models. [….] The company may well have current plans for the e models to be an annual update, but everything will depend on how well it sells.”

FAQs

Q1. How thin is the iPhone 17 Air, and how does it compare to other models?

Answer. The iPhone 17 Air is just 5.65mm thick, significantly slimmer than the 8.75mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This ultra-thin design has raised concerns about durability, but its futuristic feel has impressed early reviewers.

Q2. What is the current status of the iPhone 17e?

Answer. A trusted leaker confirms that Apple is already working on the iPhone 17e, with the production line being set up and trial production almost ready to begin.

Q3. What does Apple’s shift from “SE” to “e” branding mean for budget iPhones?

Answer. The move to “e” branding suggests that Apple is shifting to a yearly update cycle for its budget models, unlike the irregular release pattern of the previous SE lineup.

Instagram’s AI Age Detection Will Flag Teen Accounts Pretending to Be Adults

0

Highlights

  • Instagram is testing AI-powered age detection to identify teens falsely claiming to be adults.
  • The AI looks at interactions and comments to flag users and allow wrongly classified users to adjust their settings if needed.
  • Parents will be notified and given guidance on discussing age honesty with verification steps.

Instagram is stepping up its efforts to protect young users. The Meta-owned platform has announced in a blog post that it’s testing AI-powered age detection tools to identify teens who’ve set their account age as 18 or older. If flagged, these users will be moved to Teen Accounts, which come with extra protections against online risks like harassment and abuse.

image

Instagram AI Age Detection

This is part of Instagram’s ongoing Teen Accounts initiative, which first launched in 2024. The company is now going further by proactively using AI to detect teenagers pretending to be adults.

According to Instagram, the new AI tools look for clues like who the user interacts with (teenagers often follow and engage with other teens) and comments such as “happy 14th birthday” on a profile that says the person is 20.

The feature is currently being tested in the US.

Instagram says it has used AI-powered age detection before, mainly to personalise the user experience and show age-appropriate content and ads. But this new use to reclassify suspicious accounts as Teen Accounts is a first.

Instagram admits the tech isn’t perfect and could make mistakes. So, if someone is wrongly identified as a teen and placed in a Teen Account, they’ll have the option to change their settings.

However, this brings up a concern as teens pretending to be older might not want to be restricted by Teen Account settings and could try to reverse the changes. Currently, if a user tries to change their birthdate from under 18 to over 18, they must go through multiple verification steps.

This can include recording a video selfie, uploading a valid ID or even asking other users to confirm their age.

Instagram hasn’t confirmed if these same steps will be required for accounts flagged by the new AI system.

Along with these changes, Instagram is also notifying parents of teens. The app will encourage them to check the age listed on their child’s account and offer tips on how to talk about age honesty on social media. These tips were developed with the help of pediatric psychologists, according to the company.

FAQs

Q1. What is Instagram’s new AI-powered age detection feature?

Answer. Instagram is testing AI tools to identify teenagers falsely claiming to be adults, moving them to Teen Accounts with enhanced protections against online risks.

Q2. How does Instagram’s AI detect accounts misrepresenting their age?

Answer. The AI looks at interactions, comments, and engagement patterns, such as users following other teens or posts saying “happy 14th birthday” on profiles claiming to be 20.

Q3. What happens if someone is mistakenly placed in a Teen Account?

Answer. If wrongly classified, users can adjust their settings, though changing their birthdate to over 18 requires verification steps like video selfies or ID uploads.

iQOO Z10 Turbo Series – What’s New?

The Z10 Turbo Pro is shaping up to be one of the first phones to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. This chip is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and uses an all-big-core architecture, which reportedly delivers better performance than both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and MediaTek Dimensity 9300+.

The standard Z10 Turbo will run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400, the same chip found in the base model of the Redmi Turbo 4 series. In contrast, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, so this launch clearly sets the stage for a tight competition between the two brands.
