Apple might finally be working on a more affordable MacBook. According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning to release a new laptop powered by the A18 Pro chip instead of its usual M-series processors. It is the same chip used in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

According to Kuo, “Apple views head-mounted devices as the next major trend in consumer electronics. The company currently has at least seven projects in development, comprising three Vision series products and four smart glasses variants. Vision Pro Roadmap

M5 Vision Pro (2025) –

Apple is said to be preparing a slightly updated Vision Pro, going into mass production in Q3 2025. While the M5 chip will be new, the rest of the hardware will remain the same. Apple is expected to ship around 150,000 to 200,000 units by the end of 2025.

Vision Air (2027) –

A more affordable version of the Vision Pro named Vision Air could arrive in Q3 2027. Kuo says it will be 40% lighter, made of plastic and magnesium alloy instead of the current glass and titanium build. It’s expected to use the “highest-end iPhone processor” but with fewer sensors to cut costs.

The image, shared by reliable leaker Evan Blass @evleaks on X (formerly Twitter) in his latest newsletter, doesn’t reveal a whole lot that’s new at first glance. You can clearly see the larger cover display, which is the main upgrade, along with a fresh blue colour variant that stands out.

But look closely, and the phone does seem thinner. If you compare the SIM tray placement between the Flip 7 and the Flip 6, you’ll notice there’s less space between the tray and the edge of the phone. That could mean Samsung has slimmed down the Flip 7’s profile, unless they somehow made the SIM tray thicker, which seems unlikely.

That would be a welcome change, especially since flip phones like the Z Flip series haven’t focused much on reducing thickness, unlike their book-style foldable counterparts.

That said, we still can’t say for sure. Earlier leaks suggested the unfolded Z Flip 7 will measure 6.84mm thick, which is basically the same as the Flip 6. Mistakes have happened in past leaks, so it’s wise not to get too excited just yet.
