iPhone 17e and iPad 12 Launch Timeline Leaks – Expected Features, Design Details and More

0

Highlights

  • iPhone 17e and iPad 12 are tipped to be announced via a possible press release on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
  • iPhone 17e will reportedly retain the iPhone 16e’s design with a notch (no Dynamic Island), but introduce internal improvements including the A19 chip.
  • iPad 12 will resemble the iPad 11 in design but feature an A18 chip with Apple Intelligence support and increased RAM.

Fresh leaks have shed more light on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e and iPad 12. A report has also shared new information about the two devices, pointing to incremental upgrades rather than major design changes. Here’s what the report reveals.

iPhone 17e and iPad 12 – Launch Timeline

To start with, the Japanese website Mac Otakara has revealed that iPhone 17e and iPad 12 are both expected to be released within the next few months.

Sharing a more precise date, German publication Macwelt claims Apple could announce the iPhone 17e through a press release on Thursday, February 19. Macwelt report details are available in English via Macworld.

While launching products on a Thursday is unusual for Apple, the report notes that it is still possible. Apple announced the iPhone 16e on Wednesday, February 19 last year. The Macworld report notes, Apple usually announces new products on a Monday or Tuesday, or less frequently on a Wednesday. Apple doesn’t share information about upcoming launches with case and accessory makers, but companies often use inside information to time their own releases alongside Apple’s. So while it’s possible that this is an educated guess based on simply adding a year to last year’s launch, it could also be backed up by industry rumblings.”

If the current rumour is accurate, the iPhone 17e would be unveiled exactly one year later, albeit on a Thursday.

iPhone 17e – What We Know So Far?

According to Mac Otakara, citing “reliable sources,” the iPhone 17e will retain a design similar to the iPhone 16e. While earlier reports hinted at the addition of a Dynamic Island, the latest information claims this is incorrect.

Macwelt also agrees that the iPhone 17e will not feature a Dynamic Island, but adds that MagSafe support is likely.

Instead, Apple is expected to continue using a notch, just like on the current iPhone 16e.

Apple discontinued the iPhone SE in February 2025 and introduced the iPhone 16e as its new entry-level model. The iPhone 16e comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display, A18 chipset, Apple Intelligence support, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, Action button, USB-C port, and other modern features.

The iPhone 17e is expected to succeed it with internal improvements.

The report highlights three main upgrades planned for the iPhone 17e. It is said to be powered by Apple’s new A19 chip, replacing the A18, which should deliver improved performance and better power efficiency. The phone is also expected to feature Apple’s second-generation C1X modem for 5G and LTE, which the company claims is up to twice as fast as the original C1 modem and is its most power-efficient modem so far.

Additionally, the iPhone 17e is tipped to include Apple’s N1 chip for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread connectivity. On other Apple devices, the N1 chip supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and improves features such as Personal Hotspot and AirDrop.

According to this Macwelt, the iPhone 17e will support MagSafe magnetic wireless charging at speeds of around 20W to 25W. This would be a notable upgrade over the iPhone 16e, which only supports standard Qi wireless charging at up to 7.5W. MagSafe accessories such as Apple’s MagSafe Wallet are also expected to be compatible. Macwelt further states that Apple will stick with a single rear camera on the iPhone 17e.

Beyond these changes, no major upgrades have been reported so far, suggesting that the overall look and feature set will remain close to the iPhone 16e.

In the US, the iPhone 16e starts at $599. Pricing details for the iPhone 17e have not been revealed yet.

iPad 12 – What We Know?

iPad 11. (Image credit - Apple)
iPad 11. (Image credit – Apple)

As for the iPad 12, Mac Otakara suggests that it will closely resemble the iPad 11 in terms of design.

However, it is expected to get a newer A18 chip with Apple Intelligence support. This upgrade would also mean an increase in RAM to 8GB, compared to the 6GB found in the iPad 11.

FAQs

Q1. When will the iPhone 17e and iPad 12 launch?

Answer. Reports suggest both devices will be released within the next few months. The iPhone 17e could be announced via press release on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Q2. What are the key upgrades in the iPhone 17e compared to the iPhone 16e?

Answer. The iPhone 17e will retain the same design with a notch but introduce internal improvements such as A19 chip, Second‑generation C1X modem, N1 chip and MagSafe wireless charging (20W–25W), a big step up from the 7.5W Qi charging on the iPhone 16e.

Q3. What changes are expected in the iPad 12?

Answer. The iPad 12 will look similar to the iPad 11 but feature an A18 chip with Apple Intelligence support and increased RAM (8GB vs. 6GB).

YouTube Expands Auto Dubbing With 27 Languages, Expressive Speech, Lip Sync Testing and New Viewer Controls

0

Highlights

  • YouTube’s auto dubbing now covers 27 languages globally, with over six million viewers engaging daily with dubbed content.
  • New features include Expressive Speech for natural audio, a Preferred Language option for viewers, and a Lip Sync pilot.
  • Updates add Smart Filtering to avoid unsuitable dubbing, while creators retain full control to upload their own tracks or disable auto dubbing.

YouTube has rolled out a major update to its auto dubbing feature this week. The platform is introducing broader language support and new tools designed to improve the multilingual viewing experience for both audiences and creators. According to Chandralekha Motati, Product Manager at YouTube, the latest changes focus on making dubbed videos sound more natural, giving viewers greater control, and offering creators improved management options. Here’s more on that.

YouTube Auto Dubbing Now Supports 27 Languages

image

YouTube’s auto dubbing feature now supports 27 languages and is available globally on the platform.

The company highlighted growing adoption, noting that in December, more than six million viewers watched at least 10 minutes of auto-dubbed videos every day on average. This one stat itself underlines the increased cross-language content consumption.

Expressive Speech Brings More Natural Audio

To improve realism, YouTube has introduced Expressive Speech.

This feature aims to preserve the original speaker’s tone, emotion, and delivery style when translating audio, helping dubbed voices sound closer to the creator’s natural speech rather than flat or robotic.

New Viewer Controls for Language Selection

YouTube is also adding a Preferred Language option for viewers.

While the platform already chooses a playback language based on watch history, users can now manually select their preferred dubbed language or switch back to the original audio when it is available, offering more direct control over how content is experienced.

Lip Sync Pilot Aims for Better Visual Matching

As part of ongoing experimentation, YouTube is testing a Lip Sync pilot feature.

This technology adjusts a speaker’s lip movements to better align with translated audio tracks. The goal is to improve visual consistency between speech and on-screen dialogue in dubbed videos.

Improved Creator Controls and Smart Filtering

Several updates are targeted at creators to improve how auto dubbing functions. Automatic Smart Filtering can now identify videos that may not be suitable for dubbing such as music-centric or silent content, reducing the chances of mismatched audio.

YouTube also clarified that auto dubbing does not harm a video’s original discovery performance and may help expand reach across additional languages. Creators retain manual control with the ability to upload their own dubbed audio tracks or turn off auto dubbing entirely.

Feature Availability

Auto dubbing is available to YouTube creators with support for 27 languages. Expressive Speech currently works in eight languages, which are English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The Preferred Language setting is rolling out to multilingual audiences, while the Lip Sync feature remains in a limited pilot phase as YouTube continues to evaluate its performance.

FAQs

Q1. How many languages does YouTube’s auto dubbing now support?

Answer. The feature now supports 27 languages globally, expanding accessibility for creators and audiences worldwide.

Q2. What is the purpose of the new YouTube Expressive Speech feature?

Answer. Expressive Speech preserves the speaker’s tone, emotion, and delivery style, making dubbed voices sound more natural and less robotic.

Q3. What new YouTube controls are available for viewers using auto dubbing?

Answer. Viewers can now set a Preferred Language for dubbed playback or switch back to the original audio, giving them more control over how they experience content.

iPad Shipments Surge in Q4 2025 as Apple Extends Lead, Memory Constraints Could Impact 2026, Says Report

0

Highlights

  • Apple shipped 19.6 million iPads, up 16.5% year-over-year, boosting its market share to 44.9%, well ahead of Samsung (14.7%) and Lenovo (8.8%).
  • The global tablet market grew 10% YoY in Q4 2025, showing signs of stabilisation after three years of decline.

Apple recorded a strong performance in the global tablet market during the fourth quarter of 2025. iPad shipments rising sharply even as overall market growth showed early signs of cooling, according to a new report from research firm Omdia.

iPad Shipments Rise as Market Stabilises

Omdia’s data shows that Apple shipped 19.6 million iPads in Q4 2025, marking a year-over-year growth of 16.5 percent. This was the second-highest growth rate among major tablet brands, behind Lenovo, which reported a 36.2 percent increase on shipments of 3.9 million units during the same period.

image

Despite Lenovo’s faster growth rate, Apple strengthened its dominant position in the market. The company gained 2.6 percentage points in market share, reaching 44.9 percent in Q4 2025. Samsung followed at 14.7 percent, while Lenovo captured 8.8 percent.

Huawei and Xiaomi accounted for 6.9 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively, with other tablet manufacturers making up the remaining 18.3 percent of global shipments.

Strong Demand for New iPads Drives Growth

Omdia noted that Apple outperformed the broader tablet market in the final quarter of the year. The report stated, “Apple had robust demand and grew their lead as the top tablet vendor, delivering 19.6 million iPads, representing a 16.5% increase, driven by strong demand for the iPad 11th Generation and the M5-powered iPad Pro lineup.”

Global Tablet Market Sees Modest Recovery

image

Looking beyond Apple, the overall tablet market grew by around 10 percent year over year in Q4 2025, slightly exceeding the growth recorded in 2024. This indicates a gradual stabilisation following three consecutive years of decline after the pandemic-era surge in demand.

Himani Mukka, Research Manager at Omdia, highlighted the role of memory supply challenges in shaping recent shipment trends and warned of potential headwinds ahead. Mukka said, “In 2025, the tablet market delivered its highest annual shipment volume since the pandemic-driven demand boom of 2020. […] Seasonal holiday demand, combined with vendor pre-build activity ahead of anticipated memory constraints, provided a meaningful uplift to shipments in the final quarter. However, tablet demand will come under increasing pressure in 2026.”

While Apple closed 2025 on a strong note, Omdia suggests that supply-side challenges, particularly around memory availability, could weigh on tablet demand across the industry in the coming year.

FAQs

Q1. How did Apple perform in the global tablet market during Q4 2025?

Answer. Apple shipped 19.6 million iPads, marking a 16.5% year-over-year growth, and increased its market share to 44.9%, strengthening its lead.

Q2. Which iPad models drove Apple’s strong growth in Q4 2025?

Answer. The growth was fueled by strong demand for the iPad 11th Generation and the M5-powered iPad Pro lineup.

Q3. What challenges could impact the tablet market in 2026?

Answer. Omdia warns that memory supply constraints may pressure tablet demand in 2026, despite the strong performance seen in late 2025.

Additional design highlights include an extra-large R-angle structure, an AG micro-frosted back cover with AF coating, and a low-temperature matte metal frame. The phone also ships with an L-shaped capsule charging cable designed to avoid obstruction during horizontal gaming use.

iQOO 15 Ultra – Key Features

The iQOO 15 Ultra comes with a 6.85-inch flat 2K+ AMOLED display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and 8T LTPO technology. The panel uses Samsung’s M14 luminous material and supports 2160Hz full high-frequency dimming, a 3200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, and a 360Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. It delivers up to 2600 nits of brightness in HBM mode and peaks at 8000 nits.

According to the company, the phone uses 2K LEAD OLED technology, which enables lower power consumption, higher brightness, a slimmer profile, and improved environmental efficiency. It also introduces the world’s first Pleasing Eye Protection 2.0, offering a non-polarised natural light display, hardware-level gaming eye protection, and an industry-leading minimum brightness of 1 nit.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, optimised in collaboration with Qualcomm. iQOO claims the device scores over 4.51 million points on AnTuTu V11 benchmarks. The gaming-focused Q3 chip supports true 2K gaming visuals, simultaneous 2K+144FPS output, and native super-resolution and super-frame features across seven officially supported games.
