The upcoming Apple iPhone 17e has surfaced in fresh leaks, offering an early look at what the company may unveil in early 2026. The new reports suggest that Apple is quietly preparing this more affordable model, which could debut alongside a new iPad and a new MacBook. Here’s what we know so far.
According to early reports, Apple may rethink its usual chipset strategy. Instead of using the A18 chip, the iPhone 17e is reportedly set to feature the A19 processor paired with 8GB RAM. This hardware combination is expected to support all Apple Intelligence features without limitations.
Apple is also said to be moving away from Qualcomm modems. The iPhone 17e may introduce Apple’s in-house C1 cellular modem, marking a major shift for the brand. Additionally, a custom N1 wireless chip may power enhanced connectivity features including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
One of the key upgrades could be the transition from the notch to the Dynamic Island. It could be bringing the iPhone 17e in line with Apple’s modern design language. However, the company is likely to retain the 60Hz refresh rate, keeping costs in check.
A report from South Korea, citing supply chain sources claims that BOE will produce most of the panels for the iPhone 17e. In the meantime, Samsung Display and LG Display will supply the remainder. The device is expected to keep its 6.1-inch OLED panel. BOE reportedly cannot manufacture LTPO displays for the 17-series yet and will instead offer LTPS TFT panels, similar to those used in the iPhone 16e.
Leaks suggest a notable upgrade to the selfie camera. The iPhone 17e is rumoured to feature an 18MP front camera, the same sensor used in the higher-end iPhone 17 models. This should deliver sharper video calls and improved portrait capabilities. On the back, Apple may retain a single rear camera, helping maintain product differentiation within the lineup.
With these upgrades, the iPhone 17e appears to be shaping up as a more capable and future-ready entry-level iPhone ahead of its expected 2026 launch.
