iPhone 17 launch is still nearly a year away but the rumour mill never stops working overtime when it comes to the iPhones.

Recent reports now seem to suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a smaller Dynamic Island.

According to a recent MacRumors report, analyst Jeff Pu based on Apple insights he can has confirmed that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a smaller Dynamic Island next year. Pu initially predicted the same in May, however, more specific details are surfacing only now.

In a recent note with investment bank Haitong International, Pu mentioned that Apple plans to use “metalens” technology for Face ID in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
This results in a “much smaller” Dynamic Island.

A metalens differs from traditional curved lenses by being flat and containing microscopic etchings that focus light more precisely.

Pu didn’t reveal much about the details on how Apple will integrate the metalens for Face ID.

However, he hinted that it will enable Apple to reduce the Dynamic Island area on the Pro Max.

However, this change is expected to apply only to the Pro Max model and not the other models in the iPhone 17 series including the smaller iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple introduced the Dynamic Island for the first time back in 2022 on the iPhone 14 Pro. After the first year, it quickly became a standard feature on all iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models.

The smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max could mark a significant design tweak from Apple’s 2024 lineup.

Apple is anticipated to launch the iPhone 17 series in September next year.

As the release date approaches, we may see more details emerge on Apple’s plans and iPhone 17 Key details also.

As of now, not much has been revealed about next year’s iPhone 17 Series.

Based on rumours, we have four iPhones to look forward to in 2025: the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 17 “Slim” or “Air.”

It was previously revealed that Apple is moving on from the Plus models, so there will be no iPhone 17 Plus this time.
