Action camera maker Insta360 has unveiled its latest flagship model – the X4.
And the headline feature is an incredibly high 8K video recording resolution, blowing past anything else in the action cam market right now.
At this 8K level, the X4 captures video with vastly improved sharpness and fine detail compared to standard 4K.
It allows zooming and reframing shots after filming without losing quality.
8K recording maxes out at 30fps, but super smooth 5.7K 60fps and 4K 100fps slow motion modes are also available.
But the X4 isn’t just about pushing resolution boundaries.
Insta360 has designed it as a flexible two-in-one device that can also act as a traditional wide-angle action cam when needed.
Its “Single-Lens Mode” disables one of the dual fisheye lenses to shoot standard video just like a GoPro or similar.
And clever “Me Mode” automatically keeps the user in frame while filming hands-free 4K footage.
Other top features include a larger 2.5-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen, removable scratch-resistant lens guards, and hugely improved battery life up to 135 minutes at 5.7K 30fps.
Specialist modes like 8K TimeShift hyperlapse and 240fps Matrix-style Bullet Time expand the creative possibilities.
The Insta360 X4 is available to order now direct from Insta360 priced at $500 in the US and £500 in the UK.
An incredibly capable all-in-one camera for capturing ultra high-res video and more.
The Insta360 X4 action camera sets a new standard by offering 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, providing extraordinary detail and clarity that surpasses traditional 4K cameras.
Yes, the X4 features a Single-Lens Mode that disables one of the dual fisheye lenses, allowing it to operate just like a conventional wide-angle action camera, such as those from GoPro.
The camera includes several specialist modes like the 8K TimeShift hyperlapse for stunning time-lapse videos and a 240 frames per second Bullet Time effect for dramatic, Matrix-style slow-motion shots.
The Insta360 X4 is equipped with a larger 2.5-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen, which offers increased durability and makes navigating the camera’s menu and reviewing footage more user-friendly.
The X4 features significantly enhanced battery life, capable of recording up to 135 minutes at 5.7K 30fps, ensuring that users can capture more content without worrying about frequent recharges.
