HUAWEI has officially introduced the Nova 14 series in China, launching it alongside the new MateBook Fold. The Nova lineup includes three models, the Nova 14, Nova 14 Pro and Nova 14 Ultra. While sales in China are expected to begin on May 23 with no word on global availability as of now, here’s everything we know about all three devices.

Nova 14 Ultra – Key Features

The Nova 14 Ultra is the top-tier model in the series and is also the world’s first non-foldable smartphone to come with HarmonyOS 5 pre-installed. It offers a sleek design, upgraded AI tools, satellite messaging and a powerful camera setup.

The phone features a 6.81-inch OLED display with curved edges, a resolution of 2860×1272 and LTPO technology that enables a smooth 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It also includes 2160Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain and reaches up to 5,500 nits of brightness for better visibility outdoors.

Although Huawei hasn’t confirmed the processor, early reports suggest it’s powered by a Kirin-series chip. Thanks to HarmonyOS-level optimisations, the phone handles multitasking, AI photography, and real-time tasks efficiently, with better thermal and memory management.

The nova 14 Ultra is the first bar-style phone with HarmonyOS 5, built on Huawei’s Pangu AI model and DeepSeek technology for improved responsiveness. The upgraded Celia assistant now supports natural voice commands, gesture control, and smarter call handling. Photo editing tools like Magic Eraser and AI Magic Cutout are also built into the OS.

The Ultra sports a quad-camera setup on the back –

All main lenses use Huawei’s RYYB filter and support up to 100x digital zoom. The front has a 50MP ultra-sensitive portrait camera and an 8MP zoom portrait lens, offering 2x optical and 5x digital zoom for detailed selfies.

Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording and offer various modes like HDR Vivid, night mode, macro video and AI-assisted portrait enhancements.

The phone supports Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.2 with LDAC and L2HC codecs for high-quality wireless audio. It also features NFC and dual-mode satellite messaging via BeiDou and TianTong, allowing for both text and image-based location sharing.

Additional features include –

The Nova 14 and Nova 14 Pro are aimed at users who want premium features in a sleek design. Both come with HarmonyOS 5, upgraded cameras and satellite messaging support.

Nova 14 comes with a 6.7-inch flat display, 2412×1084 resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. On the other hand, the Nova 14 Pro features a 6.78-inch curved display, 2776×1224 resolution, LTPO technology with 1–120Hz dynamic refresh.

Both displays are designed to reduce eye fatigue during long use.

Huawei hasn’t confirmed the chips inside, but both phones are optimised for smooth multitasking, real-time image processing and low-latency tasks. HarmonyOS 5 brings in multiple features such as Live Window multitasking, Tap-to-share and One-click Huawei ID login.

The Celia assistant is also upgraded with more natural AI responses.

Both models shoot in 4K and come with AI tools like Magic Eraser, 3D facial contouring, and beautification features. The Pro model also includes a smart control key, a first for the Nova series.

Both phones carry a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging, using the included Ice Crystal 100W charger. They support dual-mode BeiDou satellite messaging for sending images and location data. Both also work with NFC-enabled E-Ink display cases that let users customise their phone’s cover with text or images.

Nova 14, Nova 14 Pro and Nova 14 Ultra – Pricing and Availability in China

The HUAWEI Nova 14 Ultra is priced at 4,199 yuan (around $582) for the 256GB Kunlun Glass version. The 512GB variant costs 4,499 yuan (around $624), while the top-end 1TB model is priced at 4,999 yuan (around $694). It will be available for purchase starting May 23.

The phone comes in four colours, Floating Gold, Floating White, Flowing Purple and Obsidian Black.

The standard Nova 14 starts at 2,699 yuan (approx. $373) for the 256GB version. The 512GB model is priced at 2,999 yuan (approx. $415), and the 512GB Kunlun Glass edition costs 3,199 yuan (approx. $443). Sales begin May 30 with colour options including Feather Sand Black, Frosted White and Ice Crystal Blue.

The Nova 14 Pro is available from May 23, starting at 3,499 yuan (approx. $483) for the 256GB model. The 512GB version is priced at 3,799 yuan (approx. $524), while the Kunlun Glass edition comes in at 3,999 yuan (approx. $551).
