It appears HMD is planning to expand its Aura series soon as a new budget smartphone from HMD Global has surfaced online. The upcoming device is reportedly called the HMD Aura 3 and now key specs have been leaked by a tipster on X. Here’s what we know about the key specifications, features, and expected pricing of the phone ahead of its official launch.
In a recent post, tipster HMD_MEME’S @smashx_60 on X shared images of what is claimed to be the HMD Aura 3. The images appears like official renders although we cannot verify that at the moment.
The images show smartphones that seem quite familiar to the predecessor HMD Aura 2 in terms of build and back design. The camera module, however, seems to extended to the right side covering the whole top part of the back compared to the left compressed module of Aura 2.
In terms of colours, the tipster has confirmed that HMD Aura 3 could be available in two colour options named Twisted Teal and Twilight Purple.
According to the leak, the HMD Aura 3 will feature a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate targeting users looking for a smooth viewing experience at an affordable price point.
The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Unisoc T606 processor, which is commonly seen in entry-level devices.
In terms of memory and storage, the device is tipped to arrive in two configurations that are 4GB RAM with 128GB storage priced at around ₦94,900 and a 4GB RAM with 256GB storage variant priced at approximately ₦115,900. There could also be a higher-end version with 6GB RAM, although detailed pricing for this variant has not been specified.
For photography, the HMD Aura 3 is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor along with a 0.08-megapixel AI lens. On the front, the device is said to include a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone is tipped to pack a large 6,000mAh battery, which should offer extended usage on a single charge. It is also expected to run on Android 15 Go Edition, making it optimised for entry-level hardware.
Additional features revealed in the leak include an IP52 rating for basic dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
While these details are yet to be officially confirmed, they provide a clear early look at what to expect from HMD’s upcoming budget smartphone. More details should emerge closer to the official launch.
