PC players of Grand Theft Auto V have finally caught up with console users. After years of waiting, Rockstar Games has rolled out a free update that brings the PC version up to speed with the Expanded & Enhanced edition that was previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Revealing the details of the update in a press note, Rockstar Games wrote, “Grand Theft Auto V on PC is getting a free upgrade with sought-after features previously only available in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online — including all the latest vehicles and performance upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works, animal encounters, and access to purchase a GTA+ Membership — along with improved graphics options, faster loading times and more.”
This update includes technical improvements first introduced on consoles along with PC-exclusive ray tracing features, provided your system meets the recommended specs. Moreover, players can now transfer both Story Mode and Online progress to the latest version.
Rockstar has delisted the original version of GTA V from PC storefronts as part of the update. Instead, the new version includes both the Expanded and Enhanced edition and a Legacy edition for players who prefer the older version.
There are also some content additions including more ambient wildlife, photography challenges, new vehicles and access to the GTA+ subscription service.
Rockstar has been working on modernising its GTA series over the years, previously releasing remastered versions of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. While fans appreciate these updates, all eyes are now on Grand Theft Auto VI, with expectations running sky-high for Rockstar’s next big release.
