There’s been some speculation that Google might drop the smaller “Pro” Pixel if sales aren’t strong, but that doesn’t seem to be happening. According to Android Headlines, which cites a source familiar with Google’s plans, the smaller Pixel Pro will stay in the lineup all the way through the Pixel 13 in 2028.
Google’s Pixel lineup is expected to stay consistent for the next few years, including the Pixel a-series, a base model, two Pro models and a foldable. This strategy will reportedly continue through at least 2028.
In a surprising move, the Pixel Fold is expected to get cheaper over time. While other foldable phones are getting more expensive, Google seems to be doing the opposite. The Pixel Fold is expected to drop to around $1,500 in 2027, and by 2028, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could launch at about $1,600.
Just like in 2024 with the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel Fold is likely to launch alongside the flagship Pixel phones each August. That means we can expect four Pixel devices launching together every August, while the Pixel a-series will continue to arrive in the spring, just like it has since the Pixel 3a launched back in 2019.
The report also says the Pixel a-series will stay priced at $499 through the Pixel 12a in 2028. That’s good news, especially since the original Pixel 3a launched at $399. It helps keep the a-series clearly separated from the base Pixel models in terms of pricing, avoiding the overlap we’ve seen with phones like the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9a, which are very similar except for the price.
Lastly, the Pixel 10 Pro XL (not the regular Pro) is expected to get a $100 price bump, bringing it to $1,200. This move would create a more noticeable gap between the base model, the Pro, the XL and the Fold, giving each model a more distinct spot in the lineup.
