Rumoured to have exclusive visual touches like decorative hinge engraving
If you thought the early launch of Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 was the end of Samsung’s foldables story in 2024, you are wrong.
The brand is obviously not done as many who keep taps of the world tech news would already know.
Samsung has more surprises for foldable phone lovers, but there are some disappointments that you should prepare yourself for.
First of all, Samsung made the right move with the early launch of two foldables.
We have seen many big brands follow suit and flood the market with a range of foldables.
We have had new devices from Motorola, Honor, Xiaomi, and Google within months.
It would have been a lost case if Samsung didn’t have its latest foldables on the shelf before these launches.
But now Samsung is gearing up to release yet another foldable phone, its third this year.
Recently, 91mobiles spotted the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, or as some industry reports suggest it could be named Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, on a Korean certification body.
The phone was spotted with model number SM-F958N and codename: Q6A.
But there’s some disappointing news as well.
According to Korean media The Chosun Daily, the Fold 6 Slim may not be available globally.
Initial reports suggest that Samsung is planning to release the device in South Korea and China only.
Additionally, the Fold 6 Slim is likely to come with a hefty price tag.
The news report reveals that it could cost around 2.8 million won in Korea (approximately $2,100 or ₹176000), which would make it more expensive than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 which currently retails for 2.23 million won (about $1,680).
The Korean media also reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim has been designed to be more impressive than the earlier released Fold 6.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to be thinner and lighter than the regular Fold 6.
While the current Fold 6 measures 12.1mm thick when folded, the upcoming Slim model will reportedly be slimmer to just 10mm.
This reduced measurement, however, comes at a cost.
Reports suggest that Samsung has removed the 0.3mm film that enables S Pen support, which means the upcoming foldable phone won’t be compatible with the stylus.
An unnamed person from the wireless industry quoted by several media stories supposedly said, “Samsung is doing everything they can to make it (the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim/Ultra) even 0.1 millimetres thinner…The global smartphone market is shifting its focus to how thin the next product can be.”
In addition to being slimmer, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to feature larger displays.
The cover screen is said to be 6.5 inches.
On the other hand, the foldable panel will measure 8 inches, compared to the 6.3-inch and 7.6-inch screens on the regular Fold 6.
The internal selfie camera may also get a bump in resolution.
It could go from 4 megapixels to 5 megapixels. Whereas, Samsung might stick to the gun and make no changes to the 10MP front-facing camera and the 12MP ultra-wide camera.
According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to debut on September 25th in South Korea.
Interestingly, this is just days after the anticipated launch of Apple’s iPhone 16 on September 20th, making for a busy month in the smartphone market.
The Samsung latest foldable could later launch in China as Samsung Galaxy W25.
This would be in direct competition with Huawei’s upcoming Mate X6 and Honor Magic V3.
There’s no confirmation on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim’s availability in other markets as of now.
