CMF Phone 2 Pro – Unboxing
CMF Phone 2 Pro – Design
Nothing is known for its ability to bring innovation and distinctiveness to otherwise severely monotonous smartphone design. CMF Phone 2 Pro follows this philosophy, following the trail of CMF Phone 1. What we have here is a clear upgrade from Phone 1 in the form of a more refined and premium-feeling budget device.
We had the Orange colour variant for the review. The phone is also available in White, Black and Light Green colours, although the texture and finish are slightly different in all. The common factors in all colours are the visible stainless steel screws, protruding alumimum camera houses and the Accessory Point at the bottom corner. The difference is that the back of the Orange variant comes in a dual finish. The top half has a plastic-like matte finish and the bottom has a metallic sheen. It definitely looks cool.
Unlike the predecessor, the back panel isn’t replaceable this time, and we wish it were. That was one modular aspect of Phone 1 that folks like us enjoyed. This also means the modular aspect is limited. Instead, you have the Universal Case (sold separately) that can be attached to the back of the phone and can be used for further attaching the accessories. You can get a MagSafe wallet, magnetic kickstand, a macro lens, fisheye lens and a lanyard for the Universal case. However, we figure most of the accessories aren’t easily available and are sold separately, which will increase the overall cost.
Phone 2 Pro is lightweight at just 185g. It feels comfortable in the hand, thanks to the soft edges and slim profile at just 7.8mm. The plastic build might not be ideal, but it looks good overall and doesn’t feel flimsy. It has an IP54 rating. While it is an upgrade from Phone 1’s IP52, other phones in the price segment are ahead of the curve.
Now, apart from the basic power button, volume rockers, SIM tray, speakers, CMF has also included the Essential Key here. Placed on the right-hand side of the phone, right below the power button, this is the same dedicated Essential Space button we have seen on the Nothing Phone (3a) series. You can use it to organise your device such as create notes, take memos and save other important stuff.
We did feel that the placement of the Essential Key was a bit tricky. It took us some time to get used to another button similar to the power button, just below it, but with a completely different function.
CMF Phone 2 Pro – Display

Phone 2 Pro comes with a 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz adaptive screen refresh rate, 80Hz touch sampling rate, Panda Glass protection, HDR10+ and 3,000nits peak brightness. Now, as much as the display feels great on paper in these specs, it feels even better in hand.
It is a flat, punch-hole, vibrant display with minimum symmetrical bezels. The visuals on the AMOLED panel look great, the colours appear rich and it gives an overall premium feel.
It also has perfect smoothness and responsiveness, thanks to the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1000 Hz touch sampling rate. The 3,000nits peak brightness makes it a great device for outdoor use. We tried using the phone in bright sunlight and there were no visibility issues whatsoever.
The HDR10+ support makes this phone a perfect device for streaming. Watching HDR content on Netflix and YouTube feels quite immersive.
It uses Panda Glass from Chinese glass maker Tengshu, which provides display protection similar to Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
CMF Phone 2 Pro – Performance

We are assuming the Phone 2 Pro gets its “Pro” moniker from the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chipset powering the device. Dimensity 7300 Pro keeps things in line and smooth. The chip uses a 6th-generation NPU that will offer 4.8 TOPS AI performance, 120 fps gaming in BGMI, 53% improvements in network and 1000Hz touch sampling rate. It promises 10% faster CPU and 5% faster CPU compared to CMF Phone 1’s Dimensity 7300 processor. The processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
The phone handles everyday tasks without any stutter. Internet scrolling, streaming, app switches, music and even minor gaming are effortless. Speaking of gaming, when we say minor gaming, we don’t mean that the Phone 2 Pro can’t handle your favourite heavy graphics games. We tried playing Call of Duty and had a pretty good experience. There were hardly any noticeable lags or jitters.
We also didn’t encounter any heating issues even during somewhat long gaming sessions.
To cover some of the basics, we tested the phone on multiple benchmarking platforms. It managed to score 663024 on AnTuTu v10.5.1, which is decent when compared to other phones in the segment. Geekbench 6 CPU ended up getting a 1014 on single-core and 2943 on multi-core.
Here are all the benchmark results –
What adds to the overall experience when it comes to this phone’s performance is the clean UI experience. Nothing OS 3.2, based on the Android 15 operating system, has a unique aesthetic.
The almost monochrome home screen looks fresh and offers a distinct appeal. The widgets are interesting and make using the phone a more fun experience.
CMF Phone 2 Pro – Camera

The camera system of the CMF Phone 2 Pro is quite versatile. On rear, we get a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Then there is the 16-megapixel sensor on the front for video calls, selfies and more. The phone uses Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 3.0 for professional-grade light and shadow rendering, according to the brand.
The result of the primary sensor is impressive for a phone in this price segment. It captures clear and vibrant images with good dynamic range and contrast levels. The colours appear natural in photos and there is no overpolishing or artificial enhancement. The camera is optimised to keep things accurate. We did feel the image processing time is sometimes a second or two longer than usual, which can result in missing the moment.

There is also a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor that shoots well-balanced pictures. We got some crisp shots in proper daylight. The ensure was able to capture fine details while maintaining overall clarity of the shots. The 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens works decently well, too.
The camera of the Phone 2 Pro was surprisingly good even in low lighting conditions. The clarity wasn’t really compromised and we got some clear shots. However, the depth of field is sometimes shallow when lighting conditions aren’t ideal.
The 16-megapixel front sensor takes decent shots with almost accurate skin textures and tones.

CMF Phone 2 Pro – Camera Day Light Video
As for the video recording, the Phone 2 Pro rear camera can capture in 4K resolution and 1080p. It uses an AI-powered stabilisation algorithm, which works well. We tried capturing regular street videos in different lighting conditions and the results were decent. Videos came out stable with good sharpness and balanced exposure.
CMF Phone 2 Pro – Battery and Charging

For a phone this lightweight, it is impressive that Phone 2 Pro has managed to offer a 5000mAh battery capacity. This is ideal for a phone in this segment and the battery performance is impressive. Even after using the phone heavily around the clock in the day, we were able to sleep with almost 35 per cent power left on the phone. This shows the phone can easily squeeze two days of power with low or even moderate use.
There is a 33W Fast Charge support, which the brand claims can top up almost a day’s worth of power in 20 minutes. Good thing, you get the charger included in the box. We tried to test this and our review unit easily perked up from under 15 per cent power to over 80 per cent in just about 50 minutes.
Apart from the fast charge, there is also 5W reverse wired charging support. There is no wireless charging but that aligns with what we get in this price segment.
Verdict – Should You Buy CMF Phone 2 Pro?

The new CMF Phone 2 Pro, even though it follows a similar design aesthetic, is quite an upgrade from what we have seen from CMF by Nothing earlier. It offers unique personalisation options and accessory concepts that promise to keep things interesting. The performance is solid, too. You get a good display, massive battery, good camera quality and overall a premium feeling smartphone, all at an affordable price range.
There are some misses here and there, but overall, if you are looking for something interesting with solid performance promise in a budget, the Phone 2 Pro could be a perfect option.
