Search will be available at chatgpt.com and the desktop/mobile apps.
According to the recent OpenAI update, all ChatGPT Plus and Team users along with SearchGPT waitlist users will have access immediately. Enterprise and Edu users will get access in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, all the free users can expect to get full access to the search feature in the coming months.
ChatGPT Search allows users to get real-time information from the internet. It is different from the standard ChatGPT experience, which relies on data updated only until June 2024 through the GPT-4o model.
The Search feature can find and share up-to-date details directly from the internet.
To be able to use it, users have to simply open ChatGPT on the web or app and tap the search button. Users can then enter their queries to get detailed responses based on multiple sources. These sources are linked within the answer and the results may include images or even videos.
OpenAI describes it in a blog post saying, “ChatGPT can now search the web in a much better way than before. You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for. This blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes and more.”
ChatGPT automatically decides when to search the web based on your query. Alternatively, you can manually initiate a web search by tapping the web search icon.
Meanwhile, OpenAI has been busy adding new features to ChatGPT. The platform recently introduced Video Support in Advanced Voice Mode for users to have natural video conversations with ChatGPT.
This feature allows the AI to analyse and answer questions about video content.
Moreover, Siri Integration now allows iPhone and iPad users running iOS 18.2 or later to interact with ChatGPT directly through Siri.
