ASUS has officially launched the ROG Phone 8 series globally, succeeding the ROG Phone 7 lineup.
The series includes the standard ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro, and ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition.
While retaining a similar design to its predecessors, the new series introduces significant upgrades in its internal components.
Currently, the device is only heading towards the American markets although an Indian release should be on the cards soon.
“The ROG Phone 8 series has been completely reimagined, maintaining its impeccable gaming credentials while widening its appeal to anyone seeking an extraordinary everyday phone,” stated Asus.
The ASUS ROG Phone 8, with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, is priced at approximately Rs 91,400 ($1,099.99).
The ROG Phone 8 Pro, featuring 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, is available for about Rs 99,700 ($1,199.99).
The premium ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition, boasting 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, is priced at around Rs 124,610 ($1,499.99).
Additionally, the AeroActive Cooler X accessory is priced at approximately Rs 8,400 ($99.99).
These phones are scheduled for a spring 2024 rollout, with the standard ROG Phone 8 available in Rebel Grey and Phantom Black, while the Pro and Pro Edition are offered exclusively in Phantom Black.
In the realm of gaming, the ROG Phone 8 series introduces several innovative features, as it should being a gaming phone and all.
The Background Mode allows gamers to shift games to the background seamlessly, while X Capture captures crucial gaming moments.
The Al Grabber feature uses machine-learning recognition technology to grab text directly from games, offering a unique interactive experience.
For supporting top-tier games, the X Capture and X Sense 2.0 features have been expanded.
The ROG Phone 8 series is packed to the brim with advanced cooling technology.
The new AeroActive Cooler X is now 29% smaller, boasting 1.2 times higher thermal efficiency than its predecessor.
This design significantly reduces the device’s back cover temperature, enhancing gaming performance and comfort.
Aesthetically, the ROG Phone 8 series brings a visual treat with the Aura RGB Lightning logo and Anime Vision Mini-LED 341-element display.
These displays can show preset or user-created animations, adding a personal touch to the device.
A unique feature allows users to unlock secret animations by touching their phone back-to-back with another ROG Phone 8 Pro/Pro Edition, promoting a sense of community among users.
The display quality is further enhanced with a low-latency 240Hz touch rate, ensuring responsive interactions and smooth visuals.
Audio quality is top-notch with dual large stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, delivering multidimensional sound for an immersive experience.
For photography enthusiasts, the ROG Phone 8 series’ camera system is a highlight.
The primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor, complemented by 13MP ultra-wide and 32MP 3X telephoto lenses is claimed to capture detailed and vibrant images.
The front 32MP camera ensures high-quality selfies and video calls.
All phones run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platforms and in terms of software you get a personalised touch of Android 14.
Asus says that enhanced security features, along with family-friendly options, make the device suitable for a wide range of users.
The inclusion of Ready For PC in the 8GB variant allows for seamless integration with larger screens, expanding the device’s usability.
