Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup will soon debut with four flagship models. According to reports, it has already been revealed that most of the upcoming iPhones are expected to see higher prices. But Apple apparently isn’t leaving the budget customers behind. It seems buyers looking for a more affordable option will have the iPhone 17e as a perfect choice. Now, a new leak suggests the phone may feature some impressive upgrades over the predecessor 16e.
After introducing the iPhone 16e as the successor to its SE series earlier this year, reports indicate Apple plans to release a new ‘e’ model each year. The affordable “e” model of the iPhone series will most likely launch a few months after the flagship iPhones.
Moreover, most of the iPhone 17e’s specs appear consistent with the iPhone 16e. Expected features include a 6.1-inch OLED display, 12MP front camera, 48MP single rear camera, and Face ID support.
As for launch, the iPhone 17e is expected in early 2026. And we now have an early look at possible improvements thanks to leaker Digital Chat Station. Three upgrades that stand out are Dynamic Island, A19 chip and Design changes.
The addition of the Dynamic Island is a notable shift. The iPhone 17e may adopt Apple’s newer display cutout earlier than expected unlike the iPhone 16e. The current phone is stuck with the older notch design,
The inclusion of the A19 chip follows Apple’s recent pattern. Just as the iPhone 16e shipped with the A18, the iPhone 17e is expected to carry the next-gen processor debuting in the flagship iPhone 17 series this fall.
As for the “design change” mentioned in the leak, details remain unclear. It could simply refer to the introduction of the Dynamic Island as a major visual update, or Apple may be planning additional changes to the device’s overall design.
